Jeremiah 18:6 • Romans 9:20
I was a lump of the heavy clay Stiff and cold in the light of day I wanted to walk my own way home To build a kingdom of stick and stone But the Potter came with a heavy hand To shape the silt and the shifting sand He threw me down on the spinning stone And said "My son, you are not your own!"
So round and round the wheel goes spinning Every end is a new beginning! Break me down, Lord, make me new I’ve got no rights when I talk to You! I’m the clay and You’re the King I’m just the echo, You’re the song I sing! Reshaped for glory, come what may I am the vessel, You are the Way!
Now who is the pot to the Potter’s face? To ask the why, or the time, or place? "Why did you make me short or tall?" "Why did I rise? Why did I fall?" Even the Savior, the High King’s Son He prayed the prayer: "Let Thy will be done" He took the form of a servant slave And he danced with death right out of the grave!
You give and You take away (Blessed be the Name!) You give and You take away (Blessed be the Name!) I bow the knee to the Sovereign plan I am the dust, and You are the Man! You owe me nothing! I owe You all! I stand ready to answer the call! HEY!
You are the Way! I’m just the clay! Have Your way!
