Summary: The Lord humbled himself and became a slave to God, obeying the Father's Will even to the point of death on the cross. This attitude of total surrender and humility is what every child of God must follow, acknowledging that they owe everything to God and have no right to demand anything from Him. God can do whatever He wants with us and in us. We must accept everything that comes from the Hand of God, with the attitude that we are mere instruments in His hands. This attitude allows God to do everything He wants to do in our life. Our posture should be: "Father, Your Will be done in my life." This attitude brings great dignity and power to our lives.

The Lord did not cling to his privileged condition but he stripped himself of it and became like a man, and not just any man but a doulos, a slave of God, of the Father, doing the Will of the Father, and was obedient. To what extent was he obedient?

To the point of ascending to the cross and dying the death of a sinner although He was perfect in all His ways and His character, but up to that level came the subjection, the total surrender of Jesus to the Will of His Father, and Paul says That must be the same attitude that must be in each one of you as well, an attitude of total surrender to the Lord.

It is also interesting in that passage from Philippians chapter 2 that I have just quoted that, as we have said before, that posture of total fragility, total surrender to the Lord, total disposition to what God wants to do in our life that brings us to this point of to be almost like slaves of God is the starting point for the most extreme blessing as well, for the dignity of the man and woman of God. Until we humble ourselves to the bottom we cannot be lifted to the top.

In Philippians chapter 2, after Paul tells us that the Lord became obedient even to death, and death on the cross, in verse 9 of Philippians 2 notice what he says: "For this reason God also exalted him to the utmost and He gave a name that is above every name, so that in the name of Jesus every knee of those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth may bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. "

We see then as we said before, that when the Lord humbles himself to the point of experiencing a shameful and terrible death, for that reason he says: "for which God", for that reason to humble himself to that point and become a mere slave God, God exalts him and gives him a name that is above every name, God exalts him says to the utmost, to the utmost, to the point that every knee must bow before the majesty and Lordship of Christ, and every tongue come to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the ultimate glory of God the Father.

And that is the same path that every child of God must follow. First, a total humiliation, an acknowledgment that we are nothing before God, that we owe everything to God, that we have no right to demand anything from God or protest before God about anything He wants to do in our lives, because After all, and that's what we have to understand, God can do whatever He wants with us and in us.

Paul in another passage says: "Doesn't a potter have the right to take a mass of clay and if he does not like the result of a glass, he is simply taking that glass, and while the clay is malleable, make it a ball of clay, and then make another pot if he wants? " The answer: obviously, of course you have the right. And Paul says: well, that's the way we are too. We are like vessels in the hands of the potter and God can make us whatever He wants.

Many times we also sing that chorus that says: "I want to be, Lord, lover, like clay in the hands of the potter. Take my life and do it again. I want to be a new vessel." We sing that but we don't understand what we're saying.

That idea is based on the other idea that we are servants totally at the disposal of our Lord. He has every right in our lives, He can pass us through any experience He wants, He has the right to form us in the way He wants, and we should never be bitter against God because He did not give us something we wanted or gave us. something we didn't want. Our posture should be like Job's in the Old Testament who says when they take away his children, take away his wealth, his health, he says: Hey, God gave, God took away, the Name of the Lord be glorified. And he says to his wife: hey, will we only accept the good things of God and not the bad things? the idea is that we have to accept everything that comes from the Hand of God.

So this idea of that owner of our lives who uses us as He wants and who does not have to give us an account of anything that He does or even have to thank us for what we do, and that our position should be: hey , everything I do I do because that is my situation, that is my condition and God does not owe anything to me nor do I have the right to question or demand God, I am simply an instrument in His hands, that attitude when we We internalize it and make it the starting point in our whole life and in everything we do, when that attitude is in the background of our conscience and of our Christian life that attitude is tremendously powerful because then it allows God to do everything He wants do in our life.

And that is the feeling of all Scripture, and that must be our own feeling as well. Father, Your Will be done in my life. When trials come, when tribulations come Lord, I am at Your disposal. If that is what You want from me, be Your Name glorified. If I want to live a type of life and for some reason that is not given and I have prayed to You, and I have asked You, and what I have wanted is not given to me, Father, Your Will be done because I am a mere servant of Yours. I am a mere creation of You and You have already redeemed me with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and that is more than enough for me. Everything else is secondary and I must be totally surrendered to Your Will.

May God that this is the powerful attitude that governs our lives, in that attitude there is great dignity and great power. And in our next meditation I am going to take another passage, this time from the Apostle James, who invites us again, to always keep in mind: I do not rule myself, God has total lordship over my life. God bless you and until our next meditation.
