And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh. (2 Kings 6:30)
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: (Ephesians 4:31)

God is not done dealing with the leaders of our nations

The King of Israel in this story is an impious ruler who blames Elisha for the misery his nation is going through, rather than acknowledging their sin and seeking mercy from God. However, even though he rejects God, he still has a kernel of faith that can be exploited. The Church is being called to speak to the instinctive fear of God that is still present in our rulers and nations, and use it to call them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. May the time come when the Church has the power of God to declare His judgment on the nations and bring about repentance. Read more...

Comments:

Carlos A. Borja Flores: How timely this devotional is to make us reflect for those of us who are part of the Church of Christ in Ecuador. I will mention two comments made by Dr. Roberto Miranda: "... The Church is being called at this time to speak to the heart, to speak to that instinctive fear of God that is in the rulers and in the leaders and in the nations, in the people as well, and that we use that little flame..." "Right now we have the opposite: A powerless Church, a Church that no one takes into account, a Church that no one respects and even less fears because we do not have the power of God and we have to ask God to lower His prophetic power so that we can once again disturb the nations with the Word of the Gospel." May God give us the wisdom and strength necessary to fulfill the mission to which we have been called.
What a beautiful comment, Carlos. It's true that the call to the Church is very relevant in these times, as Dr. Roberto Miranda mentions in his devotional. It's essential that as believers we focus on speaking to the hearts of authorities and leaders, reminding them of that instinctive fear of God that is present in their lives. Furthermore, it's crucial that as a Church we can access God's prophetic power to impact the nations with the Gospel. May divine wisdom and strength accompany us in this important mission we have received. May God continue to bless the work of the Church in Ecuador and around the world!
Julio Saturnino Ardura López : Very good teaching. It's very sad that we gather together and listen to the blessed Word of God, but we don't see any significant changes; it's like a routine. And we have a lost world around us, and rulers, due to their failure, allow many things that are unbiblical and ungodly. They're only interested in being voted in and thus doing and undoing. With their example and the people's, they allow it and say, "NOTHING IS HAPPENING" here. Tremendous truth! The Word of God tells us that we must pray for those who govern. Amen. Many blessings. God bless you always. Amen.
Julio, what an important reflection you share with us! It's true that sometimes we fall into a routine of listening to God's Word without seeing any significant changes in our lives. It's crucial to remember that as believers, we must pray for our leaders, who play a key role in society and in making decisions that affect everyone. May God's blessing continue to accompany you, and may we continue to strengthen our faith and commitment to make a difference in our communities. May God bless you abundantly!
Rodolfo Manuel Quirós Ramirez : What a blessing it is to wake up and thank the Lord God. And this message is for many rulers of different nations. That instead of doing good for their people, they instead punish and mistreat them. As Proverbs chapter 29 verse 2 says: When the righteous rule, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan. For example, here in Costa Rica, the Lord God gave us an excellent president, who has opened our eyes to the corruption that the corrupt political parties previously held us in. May God bless them always.
Rodolfo, what a beautiful expression of gratitude to the Lord! It's true that the devotional's message is relevant for many leaders in various nations who, instead of looking out for the well-being of their people, act in ways contrary to their own. It's important to remember the importance of having just leaders, as you mention in Proverbs 29:2. It's a great blessing to have leaders who seek the common good and fight against corruption. May God continue to guide the leaders of Costa Rica and all leaders around the world to act with justice and wisdom. May God's blessing be upon you and your nation always!
Francisco Diaz S.: Jesus Christ comes to put an end to the evil of the wicked who rule and enslave peoples, those who deify themselves and place themselves above all things, those who have no mercy but pride and arrogance. Jesus comes to bring justice, to rescue those who suffer, to establish his kingdom which is above all kingdoms because God the Father has established it that way. Yes, we have hope, because good will prevail over evil. Let us glory in the Lord.
Francis, your words reflect a profound conviction in the transforming power of Jesus Christ over evil and injustice in the world, especially those ungodly leaders who oppress people. It is comforting to remember that Jesus comes to bring justice and rescue those who suffer, establishing His kingdom that will prevail over all. In the midst of difficulties, we maintain hope that good will triumph over evil. Let us glory in the Lord, who is in control and will bring justice in His time! May hope in Christ continue to strengthen your faith and your witness. May God bless you abundantly!
Luis Alfredo Ramírez Cano: 1 Timothy 2:1-2. First of all, then, I exhort that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men—for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and dignified in every way. We must pray for all our rulers, and we must ask God for wisdom in choosing them today, when in the vast majority of countries we have the democratic right to vote and elect them. The wickedness of all of them today is largely the result of a people consumed by ignorance, greed, corruption, a lack of the fear of God, and a desire for individual favors that overrule the common good. Selfishness, a lack of love, and responsibility. Our task is to make the Holy Gospel known to all nations, to be multipliers of the truth, to promote the common good, and to teach everyone the love of God.
Luis Alfredo, your comment highlights the importance and biblical mandate to pray for our leaders, as mentioned in 1 Timothy 2:1-2. It is essential to remember that our responsibility as believers includes not only praying for those who govern us, but also asking God for wisdom in choosing those who will lead our nations. It is true that evil in the governmental sphere often reflects the erroneous values of a society consumed by greed, corruption, and a lack of fear of God. Your call to spread the Gospel, promote the common good, and teach God's love is a vital task for all believers. In the midst of difficulties and challenges, let us remember our mission to be bearers of the truth and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ at all times. May God strengthen us to faithfully fulfill the calling He has entrusted to us. Blessings in your work of sharing the Gospel and promoting God's justice and love in all nations!
Sabino Marroquin Lopez: My faith, my trust and my hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ, that I may do well with my work, to help helpless children, amen.
Sabino, what a beautiful expression of faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. It's inspiring to see how your desire to progress in your work has a generous purpose: to help disadvantaged children. May the Lord continue to guide your steps and bless your work, so that you may be an instrument of His love and mercy in the lives of those who need it most. May your faith and your commitment to helping the most vulnerable be abundantly rewarded. May God strengthen and guide you in your noble work! Amen!
