SUMMARY: Many people suffer because they prefer to do things on their own and don't seek wisdom from God. King Jehoshaphat learned the hard way and went to God for help. It's better to admit you're afraid and seek help than to insist on using your own inadequate resources. James 1 says to ask God for wisdom, and Psalm 32 promises that God will teach us the way we should walk. The Holy Spirit is our Instructor, leading us to all truth. Trust in God and commit your way to Him.

Many people suffer because they prefer to do things on their own. They look to God as a last resort. They do not take advice, and do not seek wisdom from Him. They insist on doing things their own way, using their own inadequate resources.

As we can see from the Bible, King Jehoshaphat himself sometimes made the mistake of relying too heavily on his own reasoning, with dire consequences. In this case, the very desperate nature of the situation forced Jehoshaphat to go directly to the throne of God to ask for help and to receive wisdom. Verse 3 informs us: “Then he was afraid; and Jehoshaphat humbled his face to consult Jehovah ”… Do not be afraid to admit that you are afraid!
