Faith Displaces Fear

Psalms 121:1 • James 1:3

I've looked up to the mountains high, And wondered where my help would lie. When shadows fall and faith grows thin, A heavy heart lets despair in. Lost hope, a burden hard to bear, Adds pain and sorrow to the prayer. Bitterness knocks upon the door, Leaving us empty, wanting more.

Oh, this is where my help comes from, My steadfast God will overcome. For faith can move the heaviest stone, And lead me to Your light, Your throne. It lifts my eyes above the fray, And washes all despair away. Perseverance makes us strong, Where we belong.

I heard a tale, of a soul so frail, Thirty years her body's jail. In humble room, her life confined, By pain and cruelty left behind. Yet on her face, a radiant smile, "Joyful in the Lord," all the while. Her spirit bright, her heart ablaze, Through endless nights and weary days.

When trials test and paths grow steep, A choice we make, a promise keep. To let perseverance take its hold, A story brave, in faith unfolds. Why do we fear, why do we shrink? Before His love, what can we think? For faith dispels the deepest dread, On wings of hope, our spirits fed.

Oh, this is where my help comes from, My steadfast God will overcome. For faith can move the heaviest stone, And lead me to Your light, Your throne. It lifts my eyes above the fray, And washes all despair away. Perseverance makes us strong, Where we belong.

My help comes from the Lord above, Sustained by His unfailing love. So let your faith rise, let it bloom, Dispelling every trace of gloom. Joyful in the Lord, we stand, Held by His ever-faithful hand. Amen.
