Psalms 133:1-3 • Luke 2:14
We stand here weary on a tower of stone Trying to build a way to Your throne Stacking our bricks with trembling hands Hoping to reach the Promised Land We think if we strive, if we climb just enough We’ll find the peace that we’re dreaming of But the higher we build, the harder the fall And silence answers our desperate call
But grace flows down, it doesn't climb up It fills the valley, it fills the cup Like the precious oil on Aaron’s head Running down the robes, just as You said Like the dew that falls on Hermon’s peak To water the dry, to strengthen the weak We don’t have to build a bridge to the sky Your love rains down from the Most High
The angels sang it on a holy night Not a prize for the strong, or a trophy for might But peace on the earth, and favor to men A gift that descends again and again So why do I struggle to manufacture The unity here, the holy rapture? When Jesus the Head has anointed the whole And the Spirit is gravity for the soul
Yeah, grace flows down, it doesn't climb up It fills the valley, it fills the cup Like the precious oil on Aaron’s head Running down the robes, just as You said Like the dew that falls on Hermon’s peak To water the dry, to strengthen the weak We don’t have to build a bridge to the sky Your love rains down from the Most High
So put down the bricks, put down the tools Stop playing by all of these heavy rules Glory to God in the highest place Who bends strictly down with the gravity of grace From the crown of the Priest to the edge of the hem Life forevermore is coming to them
Oh, grace flows down, it doesn't climb up It fills the valley, it fills the cup Like the precious oil on Aaron’s head Running down the robes, just as You said Like the dew that falls on Hermon’s peak To water the dry, to strengthen the weak We don’t have to build a bridge to the sky Your love rains down from the Most High
It flows down (like the morning dew) It flows down (refreshing you) Stop the climbing, start the catching Rest in the love that’s everlasting
