All effective prayer is born from a recognition of one's essential helplessness and a turning towards God for mercy and assistance. Without God's intervention, life can be chaotic and overwhelming. Psalm 124 expresses this overwhelming awareness that without God's intervention, we would easily succumb to the enemy.
