God is not done dealing with the leaders of our nations

The King of Israel in this story is an impious ruler who blames Elisha for the misery his nation is going through, rather than acknowledging their sin and seeking mercy from God. However, even though he rejects God, he still has a kernel of faith that can be exploited. The Church is being called to speak to the instinctive fear of God that is still present in our rulers and nations, and use it to call them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
