Your Pardon is Joy

Psalms 4:3 • 2 Peter 2:9

I call to my mind that warm Sunday in Jan When all of my pride fell apart in my hands I felt so empty, so dirty and weighed down By the wreckage of sin that I carried around The shame bound me tight, and it clouded my sight My weary soul gave up the fight.

It was a dawn with no eyes, and no sleep Where I died to myself, in the silence so deep A howl from my spirit, a cry so sincere I said "Lord, I need You," and You drew me near.

I acknowledged my sin unto You, oh Lord I did not cover my guilt or ignore I said, "I confess my transgressions to Thee" And You took the weight of my sin from me Wash me completely, and cleanse every stain Your pardon is joy, healing all of my pain.

Like light blinding Saul, Your love struck me down An infinite peace turned my life all around If we walk in the Light, as He is in Light The blood of the Son makes us pure in His sight He who covers his sins will never succeed But confess and forsake, find the mercy you need.

Let them be like chaff that is blown by the wind! The fear and the guilt of the life where I sinned If we will confess, He is faithful and just To cleanse us from wrong, in Him we can trust A life that is new, a path that is true Your grace floods my heart, I am anchored in You!

I acknowledged my sin unto You, oh Lord I did not cover my guilt or ignore I said, "I confess my transgressions to Thee" And You took the weight of my sin from me Wash me completely, and cleanse every stain Your pardon is joy, healing all of my pain.

No longer a slave, I have found my release It is the purest balm... The joy of Your peace.
