God speaks today Sunday | July 27, 2025

In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. (2 Chronicles 1:7)
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (John 14:14)
Charles Spurgeon

Am I asking what Jesus approves of?

The promise of "something" from God is vast and covers all our needs. We should always ask in the name of Jesus, which is a powerful argument before God. We must only use His name for prayers that Jesus himself would say. If we ask in accordance with His will, we will receive what we ask for. This comes from The Bank of Faith Checkbook by Charles Spurgeon. Read more...

Efigenia Vidal : The reminder of the Word in the devotional strengthens the tenacity of the power of God's Word by reminding us when to pray according to His will, not ours. Only God knows what is appropriate for the moment and what is not. The Holy Spirit prepares us for everything we have to receive, because God commands us in Proverbs 3:5 to trust in Him, not in our own understanding, for God knows what is appropriate. Praise God for His holiness, power, and glory. God bless you.
What a beautiful comment, Efigenia. It's true that the key is to ask the Lord according to His will, as Charles Spurgeon's devotional reminds us. It teaches us to seek what Jesus would approve, to put His seal on our prayers. As you mention, trusting in God and not in our own understanding is fundamental, as Proverbs 3:5 urges us. What a privilege it is to be able to come to the throne of grace knowing that God will provide "something" for us, according to His perfect plan! May the Lord's blessing be with you always. God bless you!
Francisco Diaz S.: Let us always accept God's will. The Lord has plans for our lives, and many times we ask for things that the Lord has not planned for. Perhaps the Lord has better things for us than what we ask for or long for. Let us remember Jesus' prayer on the Mount of Olives: "Father, if it is possible, remove this bitter cup from me, but let your will be done, not mine." Let us trust in the Lord; He watches over us and protects us.
What an insightful reflection, Francis. It's true that sometimes we may ask for things that aren't aligned with God's perfect plans for us. Your reference to Jesus' prayer on the Mount of Olives is very timely, where He Himself accepted the Father's will above His own. Trusting in the Lord and surrendering to His will is an act of faith and humility that brings us closer to His purpose for our lives. What a beautiful reminder of the importance of trusting in God and allowing His will to be fulfilled in us! May the Lord continue to guide and protect you on your journey. God bless you!
Lucy Milena Molina : Excellent word from the Lord today. Right now, it has touched my heart, as I am meditating on the cleansing of the soul, and I ask God, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, to cleanse my paternal and maternal lineage, and also health and life for my loved ones, my husband, and my children. I also ask for His response to the new results of the tests I will undergo in August, as they have revealed metastases in my liver and abdomen. But my faith in God doesn't allow me to believe that this is within me.
Lucy Milena, your words reflect a deep faith and trust in God, despite the difficult circumstances you are facing. It is inspiring to see how your heart leans toward prayer and how you seek cleansing of the soul and healing for your loved ones in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ, just as Charles Spurgeon's devotional teaches us. It is beautiful to see how, despite the trials, you keep your faith rooted in God's promise. May He strengthen you in this time of uncertainty and may His peace, which surpasses all understanding, fill your heart. Let us remember that, as John 14:14 tells us, if we ask anything in Jesus' name, He will do it. May God's grace and love accompany you every step of the way. Stay steadfast in your faith, Lucy Milena. May God sustain and strengthen you! 🙏
Sabino Marroquin Lopez: God is my true love amen.
What a beautiful statement, Sabino! Recognizing God as our true love is an act of surrender and devotion that fills the heart with peace and joy. As John 14:14 mentions, when we seek Him in the name of Jesus, He works in our lives in wonderful ways. May your love and relationship with God continue to grow stronger day by day, and may His love flood every aspect of your life. God is faithful, and His love for you is endless! May His presence and love guide you always, Sabino! God bless you! 🙏
