But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
(2 Kings 5:11)The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
(Matthew 8:8) A treatment for pride
There are two types of servants in the Church of Jesus Christ: those who are religious and only know the literal part of the Bible, liturgy, religiosity, and rituals but do not know the supernatural power of God, and those who do know the supernatural power of God and want to be part of that supernatural people. God is preparing a scenario where the Church of Jesus Christ will exercise very powerful authority in the world and be a source of a word of wisdom and a solution to the nations. Elisha discerns the arrogance of the king of Syria and Naaman and wants to show them that the God of Israel cannot be treated as a mere provider of miracles. God requires a humble, simple, broken approach. Naaman is scandalized when Elisha sends his servant to tell him to go to the Jordan River and lie down seven times to be healed. Naaman thought he deserved a grandiose scene but God wants to deal not only with our need but also with our personality. God's plans are comprehensive, and He wants to work in a much more comprehensive way in our lives and use us as His instruments on a large scale.
