Samuel Acevedo: Associate Pastor Social Ministries
Samuel Acevedo is Director of the Academic Resource Center (HERC) of Congregación León de Judá. In addition, he serves as the part-time Executive Director of the Hispanic Pastoral Fellowship of New England (COPAHNI). Since its inception, HERC has provided diverse academic services to thousands of minority students in the city of Boston. COPAHNI promotes collaboration between Hispanic pastors in New England, in addition to providing services that strengthen the Hispanic Church in this region.
Pastor Acevedo was born in New York City in October 1963. The son of Puerto Rican pastors, he lived in the Hispanic sections of Harlem and the South Bronx until he and his family moved to Orlando, Florida in 1972. He attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. He graduated in 1985 with a BA in English Literature. Pastor Acevedo then attended Boston College Law School, graduating Cum Laude in 1993. After graduation, Samuel worked as a prosecutor in the juvenile branch of New York Family Court. .
Samuel returned to Boston in November 1999 to begin his work as Director of the Boston Academic Resource Center. In addition to his work as director of the Center, Samuel serves as an assistant pastor, assisting in preaching and pastoral care, especially working with men in rehabilitation. He is a member of various boards of community organizations in the city.
