Summary: Lot's wife disobeyed God's warning not to look back and lost her blessing. We should forget our past and focus on our future, trusting that God has a better plan for us. God has already forgotten our past sins and we should too. Our memories of the past may be hindering our present and future blessings. We should forget the things that belong to the past and go after the things that await us. God will restore what we lost and has plans for us that are good. We are new creatures in Christ and should walk forward with our heads held high, trusting in God's promises.
Lot's wife lost her blessing for a moment of weakness; perhaps out of melancholy, or out of love for what he left behind in his past. For one reason or another, Lot's wife disobeyed, and she paid dearly for her disobedience.
The Lord does not want us to live remembering the past, looking at what we left behind, as Lot's wife did. He wants us to forget, if necessary completely, the past, and look at our future; always trusting that God has a better future for us.
