We desperately need wisdom

Summary: Instead of making superficial New Year's resolutions, we should strive for a revolution in the search for wisdom. We need to be connected to God and ask for wisdom every day in order to make wise decisions in all areas of our lives. By using God's wisdom, we can bring blessing to others and expand the Kingdom of God. We must constantly renew ourselves in wisdom and view life through the lenses of Christ. Wisdom is knowing how to discern between good and bad and doing what pleases God at the right time and in the right way. The wisdom of God can be seen in creation and divine providence, and we should strive to be wise and seek wisdom in all aspects of our lives.

The hand of God's wisdom is seen in nature, divine providence, and the plan of salvation. We must align ourselves with God's purpose to receive supernatural wisdom. The wisdom of the world is in conflict with the wisdom of God, and we must discern between the two. God knows our hearts, and if we are willing to obey Him, He will give us what we need, even if we have made unwise decisions in the past. James 3:13-18 contrasts the wisdom of God with earthly wisdom, and we can judge someone's wisdom by their fruits. We must seek wisdom from above and not be deceived by the wisdom of the world.

There are two types of wisdom: earthly and from above. Earthly wisdom is selfish and leads to envy and bitterness, while wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, kind, and full of mercy. The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace. To obtain divine wisdom, we must cultivate communion with God, nourish ourselves with His word, and ask for wisdom. A wise person continually recharges their spiritual batteries, cultivates a teachable spirit, and consults God at all times. The challenge is to seek wisdom and manifest its fruits in our lives.

I challenged my audience to go beyond superficial resolutions and instead seek a revolution in their lives by pursuing wisdom and manifesting its fruits. I prayed for God to grant them wisdom and enlightenment so that they may know his purpose for them and for his power to work in their lives. I asked for God to give wisdom to those in both times of peace and anguish and to keep them from being contaminated by the wisdom of the world. Finally, I thanked God for his mercy, forgiveness, and purposes in our human frailty.

Many of us have the habit at the beginning of the year of making resolutions, what we call the resolutions of the beginning of the year. And in fact one time a child asked another, he had heard a lot about resolution, the resolution from his parents at the beginning of a year and he asked his little friend, “What is a resolution?” and the little friend very wisely replied, "It's something that our parents talk about a lot for the first two weeks of the year," and then many times that happens, we make a resolution but very soon we put it aside because it becomes difficult , because we are doing other things and we abandon them.

Many people have resolutions and they firmly have a few steps to follow and they achieve them. Others of us just kind of throw wishes into the air, ah, I would like that this year, I would like the other, but we don't really strategize how to achieve those resolutions. We say it in passing. And others don't even take care of it, we take care of making resolutions because we have had bad experiences in the past. We once set out to lose weight and instead we gained weight. We set out to channel our anger appropriately and we didn't. We decided to make better use of our time and instead of watching one hour of television a day, we ended up watching three a day. Or we set out that I'm not going to be on Facebook as much, but what we did was make progress in the use of Facebook.

And so that's why many people simply don't even set a vision and a goal for the year. So what do you say this year instead of just making superficial resolutions to change a habit or that other habit, instead what do you say if instead of making a resolution we propose that there be a revolution. And you will ask, but a revolution in what? And the answer is, a revolution in the area of wisdom, of the search for wisdom.

There is a well-known verse in Psalm 90:12 that many of you may know by heart, it says, “so teach us to number our days that we may bring wisdom to our hearts.” My wish is that this year that is the cry of our hearts, to be so connected to the Lord that we can be sure that he is going to teach us every day. Because life is made up of each day. Many times we think long-range, and that is good, but we have to see every day what I am going to do with the time that God is giving me now, because tomorrow I am not sure but what experiences, what is happening to me? teaching him today that he is going to bring wisdom to my heart. Because my brother and my sister, we each of us desperately need wisdom. No one doubts it here, right?

We desperately need wisdom. We never know what life is going to bring us. We often have plans, designs of where we want to go, what we want to do, but many times the things that happen to us are totally unexpected. Sometimes they hit us so hard that they take the air out of us and for the moment we are in a situation and we say, what do I do now? Those are the moments that if we have asked the Lord to teach us to count our days in such a way that we bring wisdom to our hearts, we are going to know, perhaps even with fear and trembling, but we are going to know what to do, because we are going to be guided by the wisdom of God.

How many conversations if they were treated with wisdom could lead to blessing, and on the contrary when there is no wisdom they can degenerate and bring something worse. How many conflicts are presented to us, difficult situations that unless we treat them wisely can explode in our faces. All of us have been in such situations and so we desperately need to acquire wisdom. Our heart has to be overflowing with wisdom.

Because imagine what would happen if each one of us really believed that God is a wise God, if we really believed it, that wisdom is in him. What would happen? What would happen if you and I appropriated for ourselves the wealth of wisdom that God generously wants to give you and me? What would happen if we set out to use wisdom to make all of life's decisions? Not only those big ones, but even the little ones that are teaching us along the way. What would happen if we used the wisdom of God to make those decisions, to expand the Kingdom of God, for everything we have to do? It is that we need it for everything, to choose a partner in a business, to choose a husband or wife, to know what date we accept or not, to know how to use our money, everything, in everything we absolutely need wisdom.

That must be the cry of each day of us. For me it is, so I do every day without fail, I ask you, Lord, for wisdom. Even when I go to an appointment at work, Lord, wisdom, because I don't know what I'm going to find and if I already know it's going to be a difficult situation, all the more reason.

Before entering to advise, my cry is always, Lord, wisdom, your presence, wisdom. Do you know why? Because I know that in me there is no wisdom. The wisdom that I have comes from above, therefore I have to be connected with that wisdom all the time. And the important thing is that we grow in wisdom as we embrace God's wisdom, but we need to renew it day by day.

If you think of King Solomon, what was said of him? That he was the wisest man on earth, but how did King Solomon end up? No wisdom, he made many bad decisions, including having 800 concubines instead of only one wife. That's the biggest. So if he who talked so much about wisdom, who was consulted for his great wisdom, if he also turned away from it, it can happen to us too. We have to always keep renewing ourselves in wisdom.

What would happen if we renewed our understanding in such a way that we learned to see life through the lenses of Christ and not through the lenses of our own flesh? Because the human heart, says the word, is deceitful. Sometimes we believe that we are doing the right thing but we are deceiving ourselves, that is why we need to continually renew ourselves in wisdom.

Imagine what would happen if every word that came out of your mouth and mine was passed through the sieve of God's wisdom, that would be wonderful. How much blessing would there be in the world if all the corrupt words, not by that I mean bad words, but corrupt words, said out of time, where the intention is not a pure intention of the heart, if all those words were not given and instead of them there would be silence when there should be silence, or there would be a wise word, how different the world would be.

We see it. Just look at the road, all the problems that are taking place on the road of what they call rage, car rage, why? Because someone acted without wisdom or someone else responded without wisdom and in the end there was a disaster. God wants to save us, he wants to protect us from all that with his wisdom. So what would happen if all those things were done according to wisdom. What would happen would be that there would be a revolution, within us there would be a revolution, our life would be revolutionized. God could use you with greater power, God could help you so that the call that he has placed in your life materializes in all its splendor.

Many of us have callings and yet the lack of wisdom leaves us lame and dwarfs instead of helping us to continue growing, because we need wisdom all over the world, it desperately needs wise men and women, young people, children and I say children because even a well-bred child in the wisdom of God is wise. Sometimes I have heard wonderful things from the words in the actions of a child, so that even from childhood we can already be manifesting the wisdom of God.

If we were to compare the results of worldly or earthly wisdom with God's wisdom, God's wisdom is enduring, lasts, brings lasting joy and peace, while earthly or worldly wisdom for a while gives you joy, apparently gives you peace but in the long run it does not bring that, it is fleeting, it goes away and often leaves fruits that hurt us. So that's why we have to seek the wisdom that comes from above.

I want you to consider these questions. We are in 2016, one year ago, at the beginning now in 2016, are you any wiser than at the beginning of 2015? Because that's what it's all about, right? We do not want to stay in the same place, we want to continue advancing in the grace, in the power, in the wisdom of God. Do you consider yourself wiser today than a year ago? If you had a difficult situation recently, months ago, can you say that you resolved it wisely? Did you use the elements of wisdom of the word, of the spirit of God to solve it?

And those who know you more than wax, if someone asked them, is your mom wise? Is your husband wise, is your wife wise, are your children wise, is your uncle wise? Could you answer in the affirmative, yes, it is wise? Do people go to you for advice, for direction in different areas of life because they consider you a wise person?

He knows that all of us are competent ministers, we all have to speak at the right time, we all have to advise at the right time, we are all called to that. That is not only for pastors, for leaders. No, each one of us has that responsibility because the leaders are not going to cope, the pastors are not going to cope, however someone can go to you and receive the fresh water that their soul needs, and receive wise advice in the appropriate moment.

And what is wisdom? How could we define wisdom? Well, much more than knowledge, it is much more than common sense, which they say is the least common of the senses. It's much more than that. Wisdom is looking at life and looking at life's challenges through the perspective of Christ, not through our own human understanding that can fail but through the eyes of Christ. That is wisdom, it is knowing how to discern between good and bad. That would perhaps be the best definition, a wise person knows how to discern between good and bad, knows how to discern between good and the best, knows how to discern between the desires of the flesh and what truly wants and pleases God.

We could also say that wisdom is doing what pleases God at the right time and in the right way. And God is the origin of wisdom, its essence is love, we know that God is love, but God is wisdom. There is nothing higher than the wisdom of God and his wisdom is embodied in everything we see. One is creation, how wonderful, as Psalm 19, verse 1 says, "the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament announces the work of his hands." Everything around us, everything that we see in nature announces the work of God's hands, the wisdom of God even in creation.

Who among us has not been stunned by the landscape of a sunset with all those beautiful colors? Who among us has been stunned by the magnificence of the sea, the mountains, the vegetation, something that I love is listening to the song of a stream crashing against the stones, that is so precious. And that is the creation of our God. Who has not been amazed by a new life, with a baby, to think that he was in his mother's womb for 9 months, each thing being formed in due time and then seeing that precious result and seeing it develop in such a specific way and following a specific design.

Who has not marveled at so many other things. The human body itself, I have always been fascinated by the eye. The eye is a small sphere of less than an inch and yet within that small sphere wonderful things happen. And there are at least 40 different structures within that tiny thing that is the eye and through which we receive sensory stimuli that go to our brain and allow us to enjoy all the beauty of creation.

So all, wherever we put our eyes we are going to see the wise hand of God in his creation. There we see the wisdom of God. Another place where we see it is in what we would call divine providence. How many of us have not had situations that later on we realized that God was working behind the scenes. We saw one thing but later we realized that it was another.

I'll give you an example from our own congregation. We bought the original building in 1993 and we were located in Cambridge before, we thought that in a maximum of two years that would be resolved and we were going to move. Do you know how long it took? They were 4 years of long wait, and Mario Ulloa who was in this process from the beginning knows how long those 4 years were. And one thinks, well, what a waste of time, one would get upset, get anxious. I remember days when we didn't sleep because of the economic provision that wasn't there to do this job, that we had to buy that, that the city demanded something else. It was a very arduous process and it was a 4-year process. And once again we were concerned about the length of this process, but later we realized that the Lord had a purpose with it, at that time the people, our church, gradually strengthened its identity and God was preparing it for the next stage. . So it was not a waste of time, many good things happened in that time that solidified the congregation so that we could move here.

Later, shortly after our desire was to buy the building next door, the one on the corner, and that building was in legal dispute for many years and the owners wanted to sell it, they were desperate to sell it but they couldn't because there were lawsuits laws that did not allow it. But the eyes of the congregation were on that building. And when our congregation was already in faith, ready to be able to buy the building, the legal dispute was resolved there and on the same day it was put on the market, in fact, not the same day, at the time it was put on the market. Roberto found out, someone providentially warned him, we don't know why, someone warned him, "Look, it's available." At that very moment he went immediately, not even with a lot of money, he put the deposit on faith and in fact within minutes other offers came, after they accepted it, other much bigger offers came, but we already had it.

So what did God do? He put the building on [inaudible] for us, by the time it was ready, there was the congregation ready, there it was. And likewise God works in our lives, we think we are wasting time, we get frustrated but that is where God's wisdom enters us, and trust in God. Lord, I trust you. This wait is long but I trust that you have a purpose at the end.

Do you remember Romans 8:28? It says, “and we know that those who love God all things work together for good, that is, to those who are called according to his purpose.” It is not for everyone, the first part is very nice to say, but it is for those who are called according to his purpose, it implies aligning ourselves with the wisdom and purpose of God.

So we have already seen that wisdom is manifested in nature, it is manifested in his providence and it is also manifested in the wonderful plan of salvation. Who would have come up with such a plan of salvation? Where he sent his Son out of love to be born of a virgin, to be born in a manger, to preach among his people, and then to die on a cross. Only God could have come up with that. and the point is that it was a complete sacrifice and no human being can add anything to the sacrifice of Christ. Is complete. The death and resurrection of Christ is a complete work that opened the way for each of us to have access to the Father. Only God could have thought of such a plan.

So our God is definitely wise, no doubt about that. He created all of nature, acts providentially, and maintains his plan of salvation until the end of time. And if we know that he does all this, we have to have confidence, he will also give me wisdom.

Romans 8:32 says "He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also give us all things with him?" That includes wisdom. Supernatural wisdom is a gift and cannot be hidden. It has to manifest itself in fruit, it has to be seen. If someone says, I am wise, but does not act wisely, no matter how much he says he is not wise, it is seen in the works. The fact that a person memorizes the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, that he is in all the ministries of the church, that he has spiritual gifts, that does not ensure wisdom. This is much more than that, it involves a sincere search of the heart to grow in the area of wisdom.

And I'm going to share an example. A man in our congregation from many years ago always had… he was a walking Bible, there was no one to tell him that he couldn't tell you the verse from memory and where it is in the Bible. That was continuous, it was almost like a machine. He had great ambitions in terms of ministry within the church, however, he used that very word that he used that he so easily quoted, he used it to hurt and verbally abuse his family, his wife and his children, even today it has not yet been possible to heal that. It was abuse and continuous control. So his family life was chaotic and unhappy, and despite his failure as a husband and as a father, he complained here in the church that the church did not allow him to exercise his gifts. He, such a wise man, and so understood in the word. And that's why he left our congregation.

So, a person like that, obviously, even if he knows a lot of things, even if he can recite the word to you and sometimes use it correctly, that does not ensure that there is wisdom. We have to judge who is wise and who is not. because the wisdom of God and the wisdom of the world are in conflict. We see it from the creation of the human being.

In Genesis what do we see? We see God who sets a wise limit. What was the limit? It was to prohibit eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. It was a limit that God put on him, but He had told him, “You are stewards of all creation. Name the animals, this is for you to be the stewards.” But he set that limit for them, a wise limit, just like we do with our children. Son, you can do such a thing but we put a limit on it because we know that it is for your benefits, for your protection. But what happened? Satan in the form of a serpent, approached Eve and challenged the limit that God had placed on her wisdom, questioned the limits established by God.

Because one of Satan's strategies is to create doubt in us about God's character. If we analyze ourselves, we can many times that when we make an erroneous decision, a decision we did not know, many times what is behind it, if not always, is disbelief. We have not fully trusted God, we have not fully believed God. And then Satan came to Eve, planted a seed of doubt about the character of God, and not only did that, but he also planted a seed of greed.

He said, maybe you have everything but God is holding something even better. you can have more. That many times gets us into serious trouble too. When we have what God has given us and we want more or are not satisfied, there is no contentment in our hearts and sometimes that gets us into trouble.

So this is happening from the beginning, from Genesis we see that this is the strategy that Satan had established. And today the world, society, invades us with all kinds of lies or half-truths that, in the long run, a half-truth is a lie, it is not the absolute truth. And more than ever we are bombarded with the wisdom of the world by all means. We continually have to be discerning, is this from God or is it not from God? This seems to be good but what is the motivation behind it?

That is the way we have to be working every day because otherwise we lose the protection of God's wisdom and we cannot do that. because what the world teaches us is to nourish the flesh, to nourish carnal pleasures, it does not motivate us to seek God, to seek wisdom and to look up, it focuses our eyes on the here and now, and if not we take advantage of it we are afraid of losing something that we can value.

That is what the wisdom of the world tries to do. And many times it is difficult to discern between one thing and the other if we are not careful. Everywhere what society tells us. He tells us follow your heart, that is a very slogan... follow your heart, believe in yourself, everything is in you, in you, do what you want, nobody has to tell you what you have to do, nobody You have to set limits. That is what we are bombarded with, what our children continuously receive, what our young people are taking from that water of your all you can, there is no consequence. But we know that when we emphasize the flesh, when we feed the flesh at the expense of the spirit, this always has serious consequences and if not in the short term, it will have them in the long run.

And we know, if we are sincere, we know how easy it is to get distracted from the search for truth and wisdom. I return to the example of Solomon, a man so wise and yet he allowed distractions in his life that kept him from manifesting fruits of wisdom in his life. The word of God encourages us in many verses to seek wisdom.

And the fact that you have acted without wisdom in the past, distant or recent, that does not prevent you from renewing yourself and changing the course of your life and starting to act and bear fruit of wisdom from above. That is the great thing about our God. In God there is forgiveness, in God there are all the resources that we need to amend our ways and walk where God wants us to walk, because we cannot live without it. And neither can we accept one wisdom and another, that is, we cannot dance to the sound of earthly wisdom and wait for the fruits of wisdom from above. That's impossible.

We can't stay neutral either. What we have to do is seek hard for the wisdom of God. In this there is no happy medium, look for the medium, here I combine wisdom of the world with wisdom of God. That does not exist. We are fooling ourselves if we try to do that.

And I must clarify that God is so wise, he knows our hearts. Sometimes there are people who, after accepting the Lord, and even years later, are going through difficult times and sometimes they don't make the best decisions. But God knows how sometimes the ropes of the world entangle us, some more than others. There are others who are so entangled that they need God to come with giant scissors and loosen their ropes and set them free as happened with Lazarus in the grave. God knows your heart.

If you are giving some reels, because I always like to say not only that God says, but understand the mercy and the heart of God. If you are not acting wisely but God knows that your heart is willing to obey him, then he will look at you with thanks and he will give you what you need at this stage of your life. So if you're giving loungers of some kind or have given them recently, don't stop there. Ask God for wisdom to get out of there, even if it takes you a long time, that doesn't matter, the important thing is that you keep moving forward, that you don't stay where you are and obviously don't go back, but that you keep moving forward with a sincere desire to be transformed by God.

It is wonderful what one sees when a person truly bows his being before the Lord and submits to his grace, to his judgment, to his discipline. It is wonderful what God can do. Many of you are a clear example of this, that you are in a totally different place, in a place of peace and grace because one day you invited the wisdom of God into your lives and you have been able to leave where you were.

Let's go to a passage that contrasts the wisdom of God, found in James 3:13 to 18, and the earthly or worldly wisdom.

"Who is wise and understanding among you? Show by good conduct your works in wise meekness. But if you have bitter jealousy and contention in your heart, do not boast or lie against the truth, for this wisdom is not that which descends from on high, but earthly, animal, devilish, for where there is jealousy and contention there is disturbance and all work. perverse, but the wisdom that is from above is firstly pure, then peaceful, kind, benign, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty or hypocrisy. And the fruit of justice is sown in peace for those who make peace…”

So there we see contrasted two types of wisdom. The passage begins with a question, who is wise and understanding among you? Answering that question can be difficult, how can we know if a person is wise or not. I think he answers it by saying, show your works in wise meekness for good conduct. So we will always know if someone is wise or not by their works, by the fruits that their behavior bears.

We need wisdom to discern between who is wise and who is not. There are two types of wisdom at work in our lives, make no mistake, not just one, there are two types of wisdom. One is the wisdom from above, as the passage says, and the wisdom of the earth. And what this means is that within each one of us there is a battle, there is a war to win our hearts and our minds. Within each of us there is war, there is conflict, because there are two opposing sides and each of them calls itself wisdom.

However, there cannot be two types of wisdom. We know there can be only one. So within us there is a struggle to follow the wisdom from above and to protect ourselves and not fall into earthly wisdom. That is a struggle that every believer has, Paul himself talks about it, in a verse he says that he does what he does not want to do and the opposite. In other words, that is in our carnal being is earthly wisdom.

But the good news is that the more we walk in wisdom the path becomes easier. Sometimes surprises come to us that take our breath away, but it's easier. That's like encouragement to us. Keep seeking wisdom and as time goes on it will become easier for you. And what characterizes these two types of wisdom? If we start with earthly wisdom, verse 14 says, “But if you have bitter jealousy and contention in your hearts, do not boast or lie against the truth, for this wisdom is not that which descends from on high, but earthly, animal, devilish. .”

Auch, to think that this description is within each one of us. Some wisdom that is earthly, animal and devilish. And that is marked by the idolatry of the self, it is a selfish wisdom and it is a wisdom that in the long run leads us to competition, to envy, to bitterness. Everything that we do not want to have. And it is the wisdom that society encourages us to follow. There are the idols, the celebrities, many of them live lives like this, where they are the center and seek their own pleasure, what their heart desires, that's what they seek. That is the wisdom of the world, which is totally harmful to our faith.

And we must turn away from it completely. We would like to believe that we do not practice it, but wherever there is unforgiveness, wherever there is gossip, wherever there is slander, broken relationships, bad attitudes, all kinds of disorders, wherever there is that, it means that there is a wisdom that is not from above, is earthly, animal and diabolical wisdom.

And many of us have wisdom on the outside, Christianity on the outside, but on the inside there is still… the flesh is too alive and we have to seek wisdom so that God will lead us to live a life that brings more joy to him.

And James in that passage contrasts false earthly wisdom with wisdom that comes from on high. In verse 17 it says; "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, kind, benign, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty or hypocrisy."

Wouldn't you like, wouldn't I like to have that wisdom? May that be what prevails in my life, what guides my life, a wisdom like that. And notice that in this passage the earthly wisdom was focused on me, on what I want, on my desires, on fulfilling my ambitions, while the wisdom from above has its eyes on God. As I said before, it is what gives us a different perspective. We are no longer looking through the eyes of the flesh, and our flesh is subject to the lordship of Christ. That is the wisdom from above.

Verse 18: “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace.” That is the fruit, if we seek and live in the wisdom from above, then we have fruits of peace and wherever you are, even if it gives you work, the peace of the Lord will prevail. That is the wisdom that you and I want.

The word of God highly values wisdom and I am going to share with you a single verse about that, a passage in Proverbs 3:13 to 15. Look what peace says about wisdom:

"Blessed is the man or the woman who has wisdom and who obtains intelligence because his profit is better than the profit of silver and its fruits more than fine gold, more precious than precious stones and everything you can desire cannot be can compare to her.”

Imagine, there is nothing in this world, there is not a billion dollars, there is no joy, there is nothing in this world that can compare to having wisdom, that's why we have to search for it with all our being. And how can we obtain divine wisdom? Firstly, cultivating communion with the source of wisdom that we said is God and only God through prayer, adoration, congregating with others, interceding, having friendship with God. That is the best way that we can obtain wisdom.

Proverbs 2:6 says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom." There is no other place where we find wisdom but in the fear of Jehovah. How else can we? Feeding ourselves with the word of God. I say if God took care to leave a life manual for us, which is the Bible, one assumes that it must be essential to read and study it because he took care to leave it. There is a reason for that.

Psalm 119 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” That is what the word is. I remember many years ago when we had a little cabin and from the cabin to where the bathrooms were, which were separated, there was a significant distance and sometimes at night I had to leave the house and take the girls, and I remember once I started the On the way from the house to the bathrooms and I had a little flashlight, one of those little ones that one puts in the car, which perhaps used only a battery and I was grabbing with the girls and the flashlight and taking very slow and laborious little steps because I didn't know I could see nothing with the flashlight. And my husband, who always has good ideas, immediately went into the house, looked for a huge flashlight, with one of those very heavy batteries, and he gave it to me and said, "Take it so you can get there better," and with that powerful flashlight we saw many feet ahead and instead of going with fearful steps, we went with a safe step and there was no stumbling block.

It happened to us as proverbs 3:23 says "then you will walk on your way with confidence and your foot will not stumble." Because that is what wisdom gives you, it allows you to walk confidently on the path so that your foot does not stumble. So we saw that through communion with him, through nourishing ourselves with his word and also we can simply obtain wisdom by asking for it, just asking for it.

James 1:5 says, "And if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives abundantly to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." When you and I ask God for wisdom and he sees in you a sincere heart and willing to act according to his wisdom, to his response, you provoke God's generosity. God has no choice but to give it to you.

I have experienced that in my life continuously. When I don't see solutions and I put it before the Lord and I wait on him, I trust that he will give me the answer, and there it is. It's not because of magic, it's not because I deserve it more than anyone else, it's because that's what it does, you provoke God. Going before him asking for wisdom, he says, "yes, of course, how can I not give it to you, if I gave my Son, how can I not also give you all things in him, wisdom."

Those are 3 ways that we can receive wisdom from God. And a wise person continually recharges his spiritual batteries. As I told you today, this is not just yesterday and taking a vacation, it is every day we have to do those things to recharge our spiritual battery, recognizing that wisdom can only come from him, there is no other source of wisdom.

There is a verse in Isaiah 50:4 that is one of my favorites, it says like this: "The Lord, the Lord, gave me the tongue of the wise to know how to speak words to the weary, he will wake up morning after morning, he will wake up my ear so that I can hear like the wise men." .”

How wonderful that every day you can wake up with the confidence that when you ask for wisdom the Lord will speak wisdom in your ear and because you have heard God's wisdom then you can speak and act with wisdom. A wise person also cultivates a heart, a teachable spirit.

The word encourages us to do this, to listen to advice, to seek wise advisers. If we think I know everything, I don't need correction, no one has to come to tell me how I should act, then we are going to remain dwarfed, we are not going to grow in the Lord. We have to have a teachable spirit. We have to practice knowing and examining ourselves even if it hurts. We have to recognize, I have these weaknesses of character, I have these temptations and ask God that he enters even those dark places of our being. Because otherwise we are not going to grow and we want to grow, we want to be exquisite instruments in God's hands.

Another thing that the wise do is that they consult God at all times. When difficult situations come, instead of acting impulsively, instead of reacting, we will consult God, we will make a truce, if it is a difficult family situation, for example, we will make a truce and we will consult God. What does God want? Instead of adding more salt to the wound, instead of making things worse, let's stop and consult God.

How many times in my life have I practiced that and the next day I have realized what a serious mistake it would have been to do what I thought was the wise thing to do. Because? Because I took the time to consult God and ask for his advice. And we can apply that in all areas of our lives.

So I don't think there is anyone here who doubts the need for us to discern between what is false wisdom and what is the wisdom that comes from above. And we have to actively commit to looking for it. If we do, our homes will be transformed. Imagine, a home where there is wisdom and that is transferred to the children, they are taught to think wisely, to discern wisely, that is the best gift you can give them. It is a blessed inheritance that you are passing on to your children. It is not only Bible, it is also wisdom.

My son-in-law and my daughter have a practice with Caleb, our oldest grandson, who is 7 years old, but since he was very little, almost learning to speak, they taught him to say… they asked him, “Caleb, what are you?” and he answered, "I am a wise, prudent and self-controlled child." I love that. And what happens then when he does something very wise, very good, they congratulate him, they say, “Wow, Caleb, you really are a wise, prudent, self-controlled boy.” And when he strays from the path and does something he shouldn't, they correct him and say, "But, daddy, what are you?" "I am a wise, prudent and self-controlled child." "Well, then what do you have to do?" and then he himself gives the answer of what he has to do and admits his mistake.

That is part of our identity. We should consider ourselves to be wise people. Your wisdom can be the tool that God uses to transform the life of another, even to save a life, to give advice that comes at the exact moment that makes a person make a good decision or avoid a disaster. It is a great thing to have wisdom.

Wisdom will bring order and stability to your life, even when there are difficult circumstances, you will feel that you are at peace in the midst of the storm because that is what God's wisdom brings. Wisdom will also allow you to be continually in an attitude of vigilance in terms of your own defects, what you have to do to improve and to discern the subtle machinations of the enemy of our souls who wants to divert us from the right path.

The enemy whispers many things in our ears that if we listen to them we will go against the wisdom of God and we are aligning ourselves with earthly wisdom. But true wisdom helps you discern, helps you see it from afar. Evil does not have to come to your door, it does not have to touch you, from afar you can discern sin, discern temptation and take measures that help you overcome in the name of the Lord.

Dear brothers, you cannot live without wisdom. I cannot live without wisdom. You have to look for it as the greatest treasure there is. Let you walk so that you don't stumble. Allow wisdom to illuminate your path so that your step is as God wants it and that you do not stumble along the way and look for it so that there is peace and true joy in your life, not the passenger that the world gives but the true joy and peace that only God can give.

At the beginning of my message I told them that I wanted to extend a challenge to them. Do you accept the challenge of not more superficial resolutions at the beginning of the year but a revolution in your life and mine in the search for wisdom and in the manifestation of the fruits of wisdom? Do you accept the challenge?

We stand up. I want to bless you with a word that is in Ephesians 1:17 to 19. This is a prayer that Paul spoke about the Ephesians and I want at this moment to extend it to my own life and to you.

“I ask that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know him better. I also ask that the eyes of your heart be enlightened so that you may know to what hope he has called you, what is the richness of his glorious inheritance among the saints and how incomparable is the greatness of his power in favor of those of us who believe. That power is the great and effective force that God exercised in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.”

So brother, today you can leave here with complete assurance that if you seek God's wisdom and invoke it in all areas of your life, he will give it to you. Father, we seal this word, we seal your purpose for this day, Lord, thank you because you are not a petty and selfish God, you share everything you have with us, with your children. Lord, you share your wisdom. Lord, let this be the light that illuminates our mind, our heart, our spirit, Lord, so that we can take safe, stable steps in life and that nothing separates us from the purposes that you have for us.

Lord, give wisdom to each one of my brothers, those who are in times of peace and where there are no big problems in their lives, and also to those, Lord, who are in anguish at this moment and need a word from you, they need your wisdom. Lord, that each one of us knows where to look, that none of us be contaminated with the wisdom of the world, but that we always go to you. May our liking, our pleasure, our passion be to seek you, seek your wisdom, to connect with you every day, Lord.

Thanks, Dad. Thank you for your mercy, for your forgiveness, for your purposes even in the midst of our human frailty. Thank you oh god. Amen.
