Summary: The speaker urges the audience to examine their hearts and discern areas that need healing and forgiveness. The lack of forgiveness can lead to roots of bitterness and hinder one's relationship with God. Forgiveness is a decision that opens the way to healing and inner healing. The speaker emphasizes that God's forgiveness is complete and includes all sins, but individuals must also learn to forgive themselves and others. Self-condemnation can also lead to bitter roots, but the speaker encourages the audience to let go of the past and embrace the new life in Christ. The speaker recommends that individuals ask for forgiveness and forgive others before presenting offerings or adoration to God. Forgiveness is key to a healthy heart and soul, and the lack of forgiveness can even lead to illness.
Forgiveness is essential in our lives, as lack of forgiveness separates us from God and affects our personal relationships. Bitterness can make us sick and affect our children, spouses, and even lead to vengeful spirits. We need to forgive ourselves and others to heal from past wounds and live a life free of bitterness. The word of God and science teaches us the importance of forgiveness in our lives. We must learn to forgive just as Jesus forgave us, and let go of all bitterness and unforgiveness.
I want to invite you to ask yourself if you really feel the forgiveness of the Lord in your heart. I was saying that I am not a prophet from the point of view that one assumes to be a prophet in these times, because the question that I am going to ask or the observation that I am going to make can be made in any church, in any place at any time.
But I believe that here the Lord is putting in our hearts, in someone, in some people, the need to understand that there is a lack of forgiveness in the heart. That there is an attitude of resentment, of roots of bitterness, that have not yet been fully surrendered before the Lord. I want that with our eyes closed, and in a totally honest attitude before the one who sees everything, knows everything, in front of the one who created us, we can discern in our hearts those areas that need to be healed, because someone hurt us, because someone cursed our lives, because someone abused us. The Lord wants us to be free.
Look carefully, lest anyone fail to reach the grace of God, that sprouting some root of bitterness hinders you and by it many are contaminated. Hebrews chapter 12 verse 15. "Take heed lest anyone fail to reach the grace of God, sprouting some root of bitterness hinders you and by it many are contaminated." Lord, I commend this word Lord through your Holy Spirit to the heart of each one of us, that we need to review the areas of our lives, of our hearts, in front of you, in the name of Jesus, I ask you to Your Holy Spirit bring conviction, bring discernment, bring repentance, and bring restoration, in Jesus name, amen, amen.
For what reason can we remain or have roots of bitterness in our lives? And probably one of the most important causes, perhaps the most defined or defining causes for which roots of bitterness can remain is a lack of forgiveness. Forgiving is a key to healing and inner healing, which opens the way to the healing of the soul. You know, forgiving is a decision, and the lack of forgiveness causes roots of bitterness to remain within us. In Ephesians chapter 4 verse 32 he tells us: "Rather be kind and compassionate to one another, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ." You know, today talking about forgiveness is not so easy, someone will say look pastor, you probably have not gone through the experiences that I have gone through, you have not been persecuted, you have not been abused, you probably have not suffered violence, probably not You have suffered from indifference, you have not been rejected, you have not been in need for any physical or mental cause, but it is interesting how the Lord did not even look at each of our weaknesses or our sins to die on the cross of Calvary for each one of us. of us, with each of our differences, with each of our sins and forgave us all equally.
Probably I do not have the experience of the deep wounds that life can cause in some people, but that is not why the word of the Lord ceases to have authority to be able to recommend that the roots of bitterness bring anxieties, bring illnesses, bring situations to our soul that can cause many to be contaminated.
You know, I am speaking to a heart, to a person, to a group of people today, who somehow have not yet understood that God's forgiveness means I no longer remember their sins. Sometimes we have not even traveled the path of forgiving or of feeling forgiven, not even we have forgiven ourselves, we know that the Lord forgave us, we know that He shed His blood on the cross of Calvary for the forgiveness and remission of sins, it does not exclude nothing, no circumstance, neither very simple nor very extreme, He died on the cross of Calvary to bring us forgiveness, remission of sins, give us salvation and give us eternal life.
Many of us are clear about that, but even so, many of us have not yet been able to forgive ourselves for those things that are in the past. The word of the Lord tells us that if we do not forgive God does not forgive us. Someone once said that to forgive is to remember the offenses in peace. I do not think so. We can assume to forgive the person who offended us but don't mention it to me anymore in my life. There was a political phrase from the country where I come from that said, "neither forgive nor forget", that was all that had to be done. There is no forgiveness without justice. You know, it's good that we can measure this need to scrutinize, to discern within our hearts, the Lord's forgiveness is showing, it is showing through our own forgiveness for our own actions.
Many times people who have practiced certain things such as abortions and have felt the forgiveness of the Lord, still have not felt forgiven, they have not felt the conviction of feeling forgiven themselves. Men who have been cruel, violent in some way, and have felt the Lord's forgiveness for their abuse, still feel that in their lives these memories come and make them feel bad. But if I was like that, but if I lived like that, but if I did this, I know that the Lord forgave me but I cannot forget myself. You know, the Lord is calling us so that we can understand that the forgiveness that we receive through having received Jesus Christ is a complete forgiveness that transcends the body, the soul, and the spirit, and each one of us must learn to experience that. .
Forgiveness above all is something that must happen in our hearts. When we forgive, we forgive within us, and the person we have to forgive does not necessarily need to be there, why do we say this? Because sometimes we can only forgive in memory. Probably the person we hurt or hurt us doesn't even exist anymore, still we must seek forgiveness to have a life in us. Forgiveness is something that is within us, it arises from us towards those people who have passed through our lives and hurt us. Eventually, in our daily lives we will always meet people who are going to do something that will make us feel bad, and every day we must practice that forgiveness.
Another reason why bitter roots sprout is self-condemnation. We must not continue to condemn ourselves because the Lord has already forgiven us. We must not continue to reproach ourselves for our previous behavior because the Lord has already forgiven us, and when we have that conviction, then we can say that everything that is past is already old. Second Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17 says that: "So if anyone is", where?, in Christ, not in the evangelical religion, not in a particular church, "So if anyone is in Christ", what And who is Christ?, the rock, the cornerstone, the place where we stop and begin to walk firm, the one who gave his life for us on the cross of Calvary, "So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature , old things have passed away, and behold, all things have become new", including the wounds of the soul, including those who once mistreated you.
I have a case in my church, he told his testimony, this boy came from another church, he accepted Christ a few years ago, but they never told him that he had to understand that he was not guilty of his situation, and that he had to forgive himself . At the age of five they kicked him out of his home in Guatemala, at the age of five they told him we don't want you and he clearly remembers how his parents told him we don't want you, since he was five years old he lived on the street, he's been around twelve or thirteen now years that he came to the United States, I believe that his family does not even know that he is here, and he lived introducing himself to alcohol, into a life that God does not like, until one day he understood that the Lord Jesus Christ had called him and forgave him , and also told him it's not your fault either, forgive yourself, don't punish yourself, don't hurt yourself because they didn't want you in your house, you don't know why they didn't want you, sorry, if you can't go and forgive, forgive from here, with eyes closed, and let the Holy Spirit work in your life.
You know, this boy has changed, this boy has understood that now, feeling forgiven with the conviction of the Lord, he can even forgive himself for his bad decisions and can say that old things have passed away, behold, everything has become new, so, in Hebrews chapter 8 verse 12 says that: "I forgave their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more." This is a new covenant, the Lord will no longer keep our sins in mind, we repented and forgave us, we are in a new stage, we started a new life in Him and He is giving us this new life through Jesus Christ. Is there anyone here who still does not experience that life in Jesus? Is there anyone here who still needs to understand that their life can be a totally and utterly different life?
Just opening your heart and saying Lord Jesus forgive me. Lord, wash me with your blood, Lord restore my life, even the author in the book of Hebrews says that we must not allow any root of bitterness to develop in our hearts. How many want to remain in the grace of the Lord? How many want to remain there in the presence of the Lord?
You know, the New Testament tells us about a merciful God, He is much more present, and He wants each one of us to forgive ourselves, he wants us to be able to come before Him with a clean heart, without wounds, without roots, that our adoration flows powerfully before Him. In Matthew chapter 6 verses 12 to 14 he says this prayer: "forgiving our trespasses as we also forgive our offenders, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for if you forgive men their offenses, your heavenly father will also forgive each one of you". There is a necessary consequence, we must open our hearts, if someone hurt us, if someone mistreated us verbally, if someone abused us and you know his name, if you know what his image is, in the name of Jesus declare forgiveness, above all things so that your heart, so that your soul, so that your life is free and you can worship the Lord with all your might.
You know, the Lord still wants us to arrive, he recommends that we arrive with one of our offerings, but before reaching the Lord, let's be careful if we have to ask someone for forgiveness, he says go to your brother, ask for forgiveness and then come to the altar and offering. I'm not just talking about money, your adoration, your praise, your service, your work within the church, many of us for years have identified with being present within the church and many of us know how it lives and how it works , but also many times we forget that we need to be with a healthy heart every day, if we offended someone, if someone offended us and our hearts received it, even before presenting an offering, even before presenting adoration, even before presenting an action of Thank you, come on, let's apologize, let's forgive.
None of us is perfect, none of us. None of us can say that we cannot forgive, none of us can say that we should not feel forgiveness, each one of us needs to reckon with the line of love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Even Matthew chapter 18 verse 21 says: "Peter approached him and said: Lord, how many times will my brother sin against me and I will forgive him?", we say I put up with one, the second I close one eye and the third I close both probably. In a world where extremes are normal, I either love you or I hate you, we still bring those habits to the church, we still bring that way of living to the church, there are still people in the church who need to understand that the forgiveness of Jesus Christ is already there. in your life, therefore get rid of all those things that God does not like and that are hurting your soul. Still not only the word of the Lord teaches it, even science teaches that the man who lives bitter, with lack of forgiveness, even becomes ill.
There are people who are bitter, suffering, young people, and you see them and throw them twice their age, I'm not going to look at anyone. We still need to work on those areas of our lives, the Lord wants to rejuvenate us, the Lord wants us to renew ourselves, the Lord wants to give us his life every day, his breath of Spirit, but his joy cannot dwell in hearts that only live in bitterness, that They only speak bitterness, they only complain, they only bring bitterness to the world. I want to speak to your heart, and I want to tell you to put aside everything that has put you in trouble because of the roots of bitterness, even if it is difficult, even if forgiving is the last sacrifice in this battle, try to forgive, try open your heart, and even though the damage has been great, let the Lord Jesus Christ restore your life, let Him show you His love, let Him bring His blessing upon you, do not delay, let the Holy Spirit run freely , that when you raise your hands despite all those wounds from the past, the balm that is the anointing of the Holy Spirit comes over you, those wounds pass, they heal and take on another color, another shape, there is no infection anymore, there is healing.
So don't live on memories. The word says in Colossians: "bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, above all have fervent love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins." Lack of forgiveness separates us from God, we cannot praise God freely, it affects us in our personal relationships, in church or at home, we are not a blessing, do you know why? Because only seeing a person who He has bitterness in his heart, it brings sadness, it brings gossip, it brings complaint.
Bitterness, the root makes us sick, it brings health problems, it affects our children, our husbands or wives, we plant seeds of unforgiveness, everything comes together in our house, vengeful spirits can be born, and we are a hindrance for not forgiving . We cannot let the root of bitterness get in the way of our relationship and closeness with God and Father who is in heaven. The one who provided us with the instrument of salvation, our Lord Jesus Christ. So if there is any root of bitterness in your heart, I want to invite you to close your eyes now, forgiving others makes us great, strong, and you know the best?, that the benefit is for ourselves. Let's pray.
And begin to declare forgiveness, over whom you think you need to forgive, even we pastors who are exposed to speaking all these things, even in the silence of our home, when you see us preaching, many of these things that have also affected in our lives, we need to feel forgiven, we often need to forgive the offenses of others. Even we must confess that we are not perfect, that there are still wounds in our hearts that have to be healed, because the Lord has already done it, what was that that has marked you all your life that today needs healing? What was that situation, who was that person, what was that circumstance that even today every few hours or every few days of the month comes to your mind, and it brings you bitterness, and it brings you sadness?
Today is the day that the Lord created so that you get rid of that, so that you heal from it, so that you can tell the Lord, Lord, take out every root of bitterness from my heart, take out every word of curses from me. mouth, take out everything that has hurt my life or that with which I have hurt others, teach me to forgive just as You forgave me, despite the condition of my life. Teach me Lord to arrive with clean hands, with a pure heart, with a pleasant smell before you, because you now dwell in me, because you dwell in us, you no longer dwell in temples by the hands of men, but we are your living temple Lord. Lord I pray for that specific situation in the hearts of my brothers, of violence, infidelity, mistreatment, sometimes words of curse that were transferred from childhood, Lord I pray that Your forgiveness is completed my God and strengthens my heart so that we still understand, that we must learn to forgive ourselves, and we must learn to forgive others, thank you Lord, because Your word is alive, because Your word is effective, because Your word is sharp and penetrating like a double-edged sword, that penetrates to split the soul and reaches the marrow of the bones.
And I ask that this word penetrate the hearts of those who need it today, that this word be introduced into the marrow of each bone, Lord, and that Your Holy Spirit make flow, make new blood flow, the blood of Jesus Christ in each one of their lives, thank you Lord, thank you Jesus.
