God - answer with fire!

A nation that had declared witchcraft or voodoo as the official religion. Japan is also an idolatrous nation, they adore Buddha and there is a lot of Hinduism and there are other eastern religions.

And brothers, I believe that in this last hour God is speaking to the whole world. If you believe it with me, give Christ a round of applause. If you are convinced that eschatology or the study of end things, we who study are seeing what happened in Libya, what happened in Egypt, all these are prophecies that are being fulfilled to the letter.

How many say amen to this? But brothers, in all this the church exists and God has established, when the church is born, it is born with a very specific purpose and when it was born on the day of Pentecost, the Bible says that 120 were gathered in the upper room praying, 50 days later from the death of Jesus Christ and brothers, there the Bible says, that the church was born with a great noise, and they were baptized with what? The church was born with a spiritual purpose, elbow your brother and say so, the church was born with a spiritual purpose, and I believe, brothers, that we have to understand that since it is a spiritual purpose, we also have to understand that there are two very important things in life. How many enjoyed these two weeks of prayer? And I believe, brothers, that God has something special and specific for his church. We have seen, brethren, that great revivals have always begun when God's people pray. Everyone say it's time to pray. And I believe, brothers, that many times it is not the problem to pray. How many like to pray? Come on. How many like to pray? I am going to invite them to come on Saturdays at 5 in the morning to see if they like to pray. Because when you like something, you look for it.

I believe that the Bible teaches us that the flesh does not like to pray. But the spirit does like to pray. Amen. How many say amen to this? In these weeks, the pastors have focused on prayer topics, how God speaks through prayer, how to pray. But on this day the Lord gave me a message of the answer to prayer. How to receive answer? Because many of us pray but there is no answer. We pray and pray and pray, but nothing happens. How many know what I'm talking about and move on if you've prayed and prayed and nothing seems to happen?

But today, brothers, I want to talk to you about a very important topic and we are going to open our Bibles to the book of James, Chapter 5, verse 17 and I am going to be reading from the international version that has lately entered my system. I started with the old version of the '60s, the Reina Valera of the '60s, but lately I am updating a little bit to a little bit more modern language, but you can follow it, James 5:17, it will be the first verse that I want this morning to leave with you as a foundation the topic that we will be discussing. Open it together with your heart and from here, brothers, let's go. If you've already buckled up, you'll understand why right away. If you already have it, say amen, brothers. Says the Bible.

“…Elías was a man with weaknesses, ─ another version says with passions ─ like ours…”

Everyone say weaknesses like ours. But says:

“…he prayed fervently that it would not rain and it did not rain on the earth for three and a half years…”

Everyone say three and a half years.

"... He prayed again and the sky gave its rain and the earth produced its fruits..."

God speaks through nature. God uses nature to speak to us, tsunamis, earthquakes are also ways that God speaks to God's people. Soon, brothers, we will be there and this is where we are going to get the message. The topic that we are going to deal with today is God still responds with fire.

Let's see, say it with me. And in First Kings, Chapter 18, verse 24, we are going to be breaking down Chapter 18 of First Kings, if you like, you can leave your Bible there open to Chapter 18, and that is where we will be, brothers, concentrating and trying to get what God has given me for you. And I want you, brothers, to hear the voice of God through Chapter 18 of First Kings, a well-known Scripture. Much is said about the encounter of the prophet Elijah with the prophets of Baal. In verse 24 of First Kings he says:

“…Then they called on the name of their God, Elijah told him and challenged the land and the people of the people of Israel and also the non-people who said, and I will call on the name of the Lord and the one who answers with fire is this the true God…”

Let's see say it with me, whoever answers with fire this is the true God. This was a very big challenge that God used the prophet Elijah and we want, brothers, on this day before entering Chapter 18, to tell you a little about the historical background, why he got to this point.

Brothers, there was King Acaab had, brothers, allowed a frank rebellion. Everybody say rebellion. It had happened that the people had forgotten the commandments of God and, brothers, they were serving the Baals. Now we will talk a little about what these baals are. And brothers, because of this open rebellion, and not only open rebellion but the Bible says, what a hardness of heart the Lord began to realize that the people of God, brothers, let's say progressively, subtly, this rebellion began to enter, this Liberalism began to come in, this need to rebel against God and against one another. And the hardness of heart began to arrive, brothers, in God, then seeing this he sent the prophet Elijah. The name Elijah means lord is my God. He sent Elijah to tell King Acaab that it was not going to rain, that God was going to stop the rain to speak and recognize, let's say, that this rebellion had reached the throne of God, there was rebellion, they did not want to serve God, they no longer wanted to Follow God's principles.

This rebellion entered subtly, it entered progressively, it did not happen overnight. He began to enter and through the rebellion the man and the woman began to forget God, to forget to pray, to forget to offer sacrifices to God and the Lord began to understand that the people had, their hearts were hard. Then Elijah lifts him up and tells him, go and prophesy to the king and tell him that it is not going to rain.

And when it doesn't rain, what is called a drought begins to arrive, the land dries up. And when there is no water, there is no fruit. Plants, agriculture does not produce food. A great drought came but, brothers, I want to tell you that in this drought God sent the prophet Elijah to a stream where there was water. That means that God, his people, is never forgotten, in struggles and in trials the church continues walking because God has promised to be with us through thick and thin.

The prophet was not in a drought, he was close to a stream and he sent the ravens, not the doves, the unclean animals, the non-believers to feed him. I want to tell you that this drought caused problems, a lot of problems. The people began to die, there was much rebellion but the man did not want to admit that he had rebelled against God.

Then the hardness of the heart led the people to start worshiping the Baals. The word baal in ancient Aramaic simply means Lord or teacher. And they called him a teacher. The baals meant with fertility, with fire, with nature, with rain, they were baals, they worshiped them and did rites and ceremonies for these pagan gods.

And, brothers, the people of God forgot their God and began to follow these traditions. Chop your brother's rib and tell him, beware of traditions. Tell him with more certainty, be careful, danger with traditions.

Now, I want to tell you something, the cults of Baals were very similar to the worship that the people of Israel did. They shouted, danced, praised, did other things, it was all similar. How many know that the devil tries to imitate the things of God? The devil is a great actor, a great hypocrite, he knows how to imitate the things of God, but there is a big difference. The prophets of Baal also had, notice that the Baals also had prophets who performed the same ceremonies, but nothing happened. They prayed and prayed, they rejoiced in the flesh, they had tremendous joy, meals, orgies, oh, the party they threw was tremendous, but nothing happened in their spiritual life. There was spiritual and natural drought.

God in his great mercy says that once again after he prophesied in Chapter 17, Elijah, he prayed. What strikes me is that Santiago mentions him, that he was a man with divinities, with passions like us, but God had chosen him. I believe that sometimes, brothers, the wrong impression has been given to think that God only listens to the prayers of those who are very holy, of those who serve God very rigorously, but here the writer tries to emphasize that Elijah was one like ours, he was one just like us, with divinities, he was human, but he had trusted in the Almighty and he knew that God heard prayer and answered it.

He not only listened to her but responded. So, the Bible teaches us that God raised this man up again after three years and tells him, go again to Ahaab. Ahaab had given that freedom of rebellion. I want to tell you, brothers, another Jezebel woman appears there, she was also the one who led the false worship, she killed the prophets, but God always, brothers, in his great mercy there was someone close to Acaab and Jezebel, abbeys that he He had hidden prophets, he trusted God and knew that he had to choose and hide prophets so that when there was a need, those prophets would preach the word of God, which would be received by the people.

So he hid them in caves, but this Jezebel was also a woman who had a spirit of rebellion. Tell your sister that you are by your side, beware of the rebellion. How many know that children are rebelling against parents? If you know a son who has rebelled against a father, say glory to God. If you know a wife who has rebelled against a husband, say amen. Brothers, don't look at your wife. If you know a wife, a husband who has rebelled, say glory to God.

Do you know that there is rebellion in the world right now? How many know that there is a spirit of Jezebel rebellion in homes, in marriages, in schools? An 8-year-old boy was recently arrested in Florida. Now brothers, there is no limit, there is death, there is homicide. We see that strange things are happening. There is a spirit of rebellion but I believe that at this moment God is raising as he raised Elijah, a church, a people that can prophesy and say, it is time to return to God, it is time to return to God, it is time to return to God so that God answers with fire.

God still answers with fire. If you believe it, give the Lord a louder round of applause. One of the things that happened when the Lord sent Elías again abbeys see him, find him, he was looking for grass for his animals, the drought was already quite serious. Said the king, go and search to see if we saved the cows and mules, the horses, because he is getting sad and skinny. And there is Badías who believed in God. The prophet was found.

I want to tell you friend and brother, if you believe in God, God will send you someone who will talk to you about God. And I told her, well, thank God that God used her so that you come here next door and tell God. How many know that God uses people to speak into our lives? If you know, give glory to God.

Give more glory to God, brothers. If you know that God still speaks, give honor and glory to that God. Then God sends Elijah and he challenges the people and we see, brothers, this very clear challenge in Chapter 18, in verse 20 and he says:

Elijah summoned the people and told them something so powerful that we read it in verse 17 when he tells them, well, if you are undecided right now, you have to choose, you have to make a challenge and the God who answers with fire, that will be God and that we will continue.

Tell your brother the God who answers with fire is the one we are going to follow. Note that he did not ask for anything else, but to follow him. And something very tremendous happened that the prophet Elijah did some steps that I want to emphasize this morning. But before that when he challenged them, he went and talked to them first, and he says in verse 20:

"... Until when are you going to continue undecided if the true God is God, the Lord, we must follow him but if it is baal, follow him..."

You can not serve to two lords. So, he makes this statement to them. Think about it well, decide who you are going to follow, if God is the true God follow him, but if he is baal you have to follow him.

But the Bible says that the people did not say a single word. They were silent. Sometimes silence is a very clear answer, brothers. And sometimes the silence is, I'm not sure, I don't know what I'm going to do. And sometimes silence also implies that we are convinced of what we want to do.

I want brothers, quickly, time is running out, but when he challenged the people, we see that they didn't say anything. He told them you have to make a decision, but they didn't answer him. So he gave them a challenge. Tell your brother, God is giving you some time and he told them, well, look, we are going to do something, we are going to do the challenge, and the God who responds with fire is the one we are going to serve.

So, let's do something. And the prophet Elijah proposed to them, you offer a sacrifice to your gods, to the gods of Baal and I am going to offer a sacrifice to my God. But we are not going to set fire to it, we are going to let God answer and whoever answers with fire we are going to serve.

Then the town took courage and said, all right. I believe that in my human mind they were thinking very comfortably, and nothing is going to happen here, and we are going to continue in the pari that we have here with the Baals. Studying history, some historians say that they were tremendous parties, that they were for whole weeks, that the Brazilian carnival, that was pari, brothers. How many like to party, as we Mexicans say. Brothers, it was partying every day. We go to baal and worshiped the moon, the stars. They were looking for a reason to put baal and this, baal and this, a reason to perform these ceremonies.

When Elías told them this they stayed, wow, nothing is going to happen and we continued with our pari. That's why they accepted. OK that's fine. let's get it done. Let's do it. But they had a big surprise. How many know that God surprises us? Turn to your brother and tell him, God is going to surprise you.

I sometimes think that God has a sense of humor that sometimes says, I'm going to wind it up and then I'm going to pull it. I'm going to let him do this and then I'm going to talk to him. How many has the Lord spoken to you like that? When you least remember, God comes and appears to you. Thus, there was the mercy of God and the grace of God.

You know the story, he challenged the prophets of baal and told them, look, bring 450 of the prophets of baal and there were some of Jezebel's who were also around there who supported, another 400. Bring them also and he said, I am the only one left here. He felt alone. He did not know that God had others hidden there. But he said, I am the only one, but I am alone against you. I, a prophet against 850 false prophets, am going to do this challenge.

Something very interesting happened. Pay attention because I believe that here are some spiritual principles that will help you so that when you pray, God answers your prayers. The first principle was that he told the prophets of Baal, bring firewood, bring the holocaust, the sacrifice and call your god, call him, as you know how to call him. Interesting and he told them since there are more of you, you go first. Go ahead.

They say that the one who goes first is the one who wins. Not always, brothers. He told them, go get ready. And I imagine that these prophets were there, they took off their royal garments, they took everything out, they got ready, the prophet Elijah was there, he knew he was seeing them and he began to make fun of them.

They began with their pari, note that they sang. Do you know that the devil likes to sing? How many know that the devil likes to sing? And he knows how to sing well, brothers. And he likes to sing and he sang and the Bible says, they shouted, they danced. It got to the point that they started, brothers, with a lot of emotion until they cut themselves off. They did rites to see if this baal would answer the prayer.

But the Bible says that he was there, he said, shout louder, maybe he's asleep. Maybe go on a trip. He even started making fun of them. Because how many know that there is power in the name of Jesus? How many know when you ask in the name of Jesus, you have to be sure that something is going to happen in your life?

He was, I imagine Elías, they say he was bald, just like me, that handsome too. Omar sat there and he was, wow, keep dancing, and they danced and shouted and I think he just said, Lord, I can't wait my turn. I can not wait. I think he was like a racehorse, when, when, let him. And they hit him, and they hit him, and they hit him and nothing happened.

Here is a very powerful principle, brothers. We pray, we pray, we adore, we adore, watch out, watch out, because God is looking for worshipers who will worship him. Say it again. When we worship God in spirit and in truth, something always has to happen in our lives. If you believe it, give Christ a big round of applause.

Some are not convinced. Many times, brothers, the devil imitates the worship that we do, he even sings the same songs. Lately there has been a lot going on that assimilates into the church. Brothers, let's be careful, the prophets of baal sang, shouted, danced and prayed, it was a lot of emotion, a lot of smoke, but no fathom. God was not with them.

Oh, brothers, let's be very careful because when there is rebellion in the nation, also in the church, the devil begins to bring in rebellion. Pique your brothers and tell them, beware of the rebellion. It is a good opportunity to invite you to the inner healing meeting, sister Delmi, for those who have rebellion in their home or in their mouth. I'm not going to tell him, who do you think you are? Because you are my husband you cannot say that I am not your slave. If the shoe fits, say amen.

No, no, that's for me. I am very humble. I don't say anything in the house. They surprise me. There are some men there in prayer who look like little angels, they just lack their wings. Pastor, oh how I love my family. Hallelujah!

I am surprised. What happened? This brother only lacks the wings to fly and the halo. But what's up, brothers? That God sees the heart. I said that God sees the heart. Rebellion is a terrible thing. The Baals were, brothers, infiltrating the people of God. Their adoration, their songs, their dances, no longer produced anything. It was just a religious thing, hollow and empty ceremonies. But they had forgotten that when sacrifices were offered, the sofas were blown, sacrifices were offered and the presence of God was felt, something wonderful always happened. When you praise God in spirit and in truth something great is going to happen in your life.

Brothers, we have to be very careful. We want God to respond with fire, we have to see the steps that Elijah made. He let them dance, shout and do everything. Brothers, I praise and bless God. I have traveled a lot, I have preached in many places, I have seen everything. And brothers, many times there are people who have the whole team, they have all the best singers, they can sing like canaries, but you don't feel anything when you go to those places.

But, brothers, I have been in humble places, like in Africa, where there was not even a microphone. The sisters who are here, I thought they had an orchestra, they had nothing, a leather drum, but when they began to sing and praise God, the power of God was felt, the power of God was felt. You felt the power of God. Because God dwells in the midst of praise. I said, that God dwells in the midst of praise. God dwells in the midst of praise.

If you are here praising God you have to feel the power of God. Why don't you praise him, why don't you praise him? Why don't you raise your hands and let him bless your life?

The baal prophets did the same but felt nothing. We are going to see something very interesting. Elias, after they had done everything, he said, ok, now it's my turn. You already wasted a lot of time and nothing happened. They already prayed, they shouted, but their god does not answer them.

I imagine, if he could take him with his mind to that altar, he says, ok, he hadn't done anything yet, he hadn't done anything. He let them do everything, but it is his turn and the first thing he does in verse 21 says it very clearly, it really catches my attention that he tells them, the first step that Elijah took with the people of God is something so mighty man who told you, make a decision. Tell your brother, it's time to make a decision.

Do you want to serve God or do you not want to serve God? How many want to serve God, brothers? Do not raise your hand so quickly, because this sometimes implies pain. I remember that my father is still, God bless him, alive, in California, in San Diego, a man who is still… 80 years old and planting churches, we want to retire him and he says, you are going to retire first. Dad, you don't have to preach anymore, you're already very old. Old man, you are going to be old, I am still young. It reminds me of Caleb, one of those strong old men and he came to Sinaloa because it gave him good blood. He still feels like he's 20 years old.

And what happened brothers, is that he always sang a song, almost always when he took the spirit, carrying the cross of Christ, sometimes it is pain, but God has provided us with the path of his love. I grew up listening to dad sing that. And he taught me that sometimes there are struggles and trials but there is God. Sometimes we are happy, in joy, in revival and there is God. God is in the midst of the struggles and trials and he is also in the midst of the victories. If you believe it, give a round of applause to that God who does not leave you or abandon you. This is not religion, this is not ceremony, this is a relationship with God.

He tells her, first step, write it down correctly so that God will answer your prayers with fire, you have to make a decision. We can't play church. Tell your brother, don't play church. And notice number 2, verse 30 tells us something else, the second step. First step, decision, the second step, and I don't know how much time I have left.

Look brothers, the second step was in verse 30, read it with me so you can see that I am not making it up, it is the word of God. In verse 30 something very interesting happened that I think here, after they couldn't do anything, it says:

“…Elías then said to all the people, come closer... ─ and all the people approached him ─… come closer to where?

Second step, for God to respond with fire, we have to get closer to God. How many say amen to this? How many know how one approaches God? How easy to say is more difficult to do?

What happened? He told them, come closer, come closer. And I want to right now because time is running out... I'm going to open the... right now. You feel coming to the altar can pass, because in the end, there are only two more steps and I'm done.

I want to leave this message well marked in your heart. First he made a decision, he told the people, make a decision. Second, he said, look, come closer to me. James 4:8 Bible says draw near to me or draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Do we want God to answer our prayer? We have to get closer to God. There is no short path, not because you are beautiful, handsome and do a lot, if you do not approach God with a sincere heart, and humiliated you are not approaching God.

When the people approached God, he indicated, first they made a decision and then they approached. Ok, make a decision. I believe that not all the people rose up, just a few, because the minority is always, it is always the minority. Tell your brother, he's always in the minority. Let's see, everyone say, it's time to get closer to God. All. Say it again.

I want, brothers, to tell you that God, when the people approached God, was about to do something so great. I want to tell you, they had to decide and they had faith without works, faith without action, it produces nothing. They listened, they made a decision. I want to get closer.

The prophet Elijah said, come closer. God is saying to some of you, come closer. And now the altar is open. This represents the presence of God. If you need to get closer, I invite you. Come and start. Just one more step is missing.

But, something tremendous happened. He told them to make a decision. God bless you brother, God bless you brother. I want to make it very clear, they had to make a decision for God to respond with fire, but they had to get closer. Not all came close. And the next step, my brothers and sisters, draws my attention because here enters a lot of what sometimes gets in the way, they are barriers to the answer to our prayers.

The Bible tells us right there in verse 30 that when he told the people to come near, he said, come near and they did. And he says, but as the Lord's altar was, what? Ruined, the altar was used to offer sacrifices. God bless you, servant, God bless you. God is already calling someone to come closer.

Look, brothers, don't move please, because the spirit is going to do something big today. God bless you, servant.

He told them, the altar was ruined. Not many things had been sacrificed, in three and a half years the town had forgotten to sacrifice. Those who know how to minister at the altar, please come closer, help me brothers. There won't be time to minister anyway, but God collectively is going to do something great.

The Bible says that Elijah took twelve stones, one stone for each tribe of God's people.

Brothers, the number 12, here it goes for the theologians is the number of perfect government, 12 tribes, 12 Apostles, 12 foundations, 12. Say government. Before God responded with fire, he had to fix the altar because it was ruined.

Number 12, fixed it, fixed it. The altar represents your heart. Who is the one who rules your heart? Number 12, the perfect government of God. Have you let God rule your whole life? Or are there still areas where you have the helm, the guide of your life? The number 12 is the perfect number.

In numerology the number 4 is the number of creation, 4. 4 pitchers. Bathe the sacrifice well so that you see that I am not, that I did not do a trick, that this is from God. Because remember the challenge was that the God who responded with fire, that was the God they were going to follow.

Oh, brothers, God is calling someone this afternoon because he wants to answer fire in your life. The fire represents the Holy Spirit. They bathed him 4 times, one, two and three and four. Four pitchers of water.

Well, the 4 pitchers still haven't bathed him, because he told them to bathe him 3 times. Everybody say three. The divine number, of divine perfection, number 3. Everyone say divine perfection. Number 3. 4 jugs of water will bathe the sacrifice three times.

Tremendously, 12 government, 4 the number of creation, 3 the number of divine perfection. bathes him. Verse 36 catches my attention a lot, and I'm going to finish, listen to me, brother, if you came today and you need God to respond with fire to a request, here is the secret.

Says 30, "... at the time of the sacrifice, everyone say at the time of the sacrifice, the prophet Elijah, what did he do? What did? The Bible says, in verse 36 that the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed like this: Lord, God of Abraham, everyone say God of Abraham, of Isaac, of Israel, let everyone know today that you are God in Boston. They did not say it convinced.

That you are God where? Say it again, God where? And that I am your servant, or your servant and I have done all this in obedience to your word. Everyone say obedience to your word. And then I want everyone to shout this word with me, answer me. Answer to me. Stronger. Answer to me. Again. Again. Lord, answer me so that these people recognize that you, Lord, are God.

Now, we have literally said it like that. Now I want us to say it spiritually. Everyone get ready, turn to your brother and say, get ready. God still answers with fire. I want all of us to say this word, answer me, three times. Look, brothers, nothing will happen if you say so. You have to say it with faith, convinced that God is listening to you this morning. Again. Answer to me. Answer to me. Answer me, Lord, answer me.

Now, something very important that the prophet did. And at that moment fire from the Lord fell and burned the holocaust. The firewood, the stones and the soil and even licked the water from the ditch. When all the people saw this, they prostrated themselves and cried out, The Lord is God, the true God.

How many know that the Lord is God, the true God? Give him glory, give him glory, give him glory. Give him glory, give him glory, give him glory. Something needs to happen in your life for God to respond with fire. The fourth, the fifth, the sixth, but the seventh time, the number 7, the perfect number of God, the seventh time says, that he saw a cloud the size of the palm of a hand and the rain began to come, the latter rain that I had not arrived yet.

Brethren, God wants the church to be reforming and restoring. Everyone say reformer and restorer. I want to pray and I want to release this, but I want you, brothers, to get along, that God still answers with fire. God is operating brother Fabio. How many believe it? This message for you who are listening, there is rebellion but today in the name of Jesus I proclaim deliverance over the rebellion in your life. Rebellion to marriages, that the devil wants to separate and destroy, we cancel in the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, we cancel the divorce, the separation.

There you go, something is going to happen in your life, if you made a decision, you approached and invoked the name of God, your life is going to feel that fire of the Holy Spirit.
