Summary: The sermon discusses the importance of spiritual warfare and the need to liberate cities, regions, and nations from the influence of demonic powers. The speaker references the story of Saul's conversion and explains that just as God gave Saul a new destiny and name, God has given the Lion of Judah congregation a prophetic DNA packed name that reflects their calling to be a warrior people. The speaker shares personal experiences of conducting liberation sessions and explains that demons do not want to leave their hosts because they bring relief from their own miserable existence. The speaker also discusses the history of the United States and suggests that God wants to restore the nation to its original purpose of serving Him. Overall, the sermon emphasizes the need for Christians to engage in spiritual warfare and declare Jesus' lordship over cities and nations.
The speaker discusses the importance of crying out to God in times of oppression and spiritual struggle. He uses the example of Moses being called by God to free the Israelites from Egypt as a metaphor for the church's role in liberating people from spiritual bondage. He emphasizes the need for recognition from God and for God's authority to be exercised over the powers of darkness. He also discusses the challenges and obstacles that the church faces in a secular society and how God can use ordinary people to perform extraordinary tasks.
The speaker addresses feelings of inadequacy when it comes to fulfilling God's calling. He uses the example of Moses, who doubted himself and his ability to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. But God assured Moses that He would be with him and that it was He who had called him. The speaker emphasizes the importance of declaring God's will and using spiritual weapons to fight against the powers of darkness that hold people in bondage. He also reminds the congregation that God has a time of provision and blessing for those who do His will. Overall, the message is one of encouragement to trust in God's calling and to take up the spiritual weapons He has given.
I pray that the people receive spiritual weapons of warfare in the name of Jesus to defeat the enemy. I bless this town as a warrior and military town and pray for protection, health, and prosperity for its people. We will go out and do God's will and bring glory to Jesus' name. Amen.
This morning, the chapter that touched us was chapter 9 where Saul is knocked off his horse, he turns to the Lord and God gives him a new destiny, a new name, a new profession. But while we were here worshiping the Lord and declaring the liberation of the captives and declaring the liberation of this city, this region, this nation, and understanding that God has called us, brothers, to be a warrior people. That is why we have the name of the Lion of Judah congregation, because God has a destiny.
That name was given by the Lord to this church. It's not that we decided, oh, how nice it would be to call it the Lion of Judah congregation. No, we called ourselves Central Baptist Church. God gave me that dream of the lion of the tribe of Judah exercising his authority and dominion over demonic powers that settled and exercised their influence over this city and God put it in my heart that just as Saul was called Paul, just as Abram was called Abraham, as Sarai was called Sarah, as Mara was called Naomi, as Jacob was called Israel, that we call the Lion of Judah congregation and in that name there is a name there is a lot, a lot packed, a lot of prophetic DNA, packed in that name .
And one of them is the roaring lion, the lion is the lord of the jungle, the lion is a very powerful, irresistible animal. When it is launched on the prey, no one can resist it. It is fierce, it is not frightened, it does not back down. It has been gifted for hunting, hunting, for warfare and we have been called, and I believe we have been gifted and are now being developed to do the job of being a presence in this city, of warfare, to worship the Lord. in a prophetic and conscious way, knowing that it is not simply declaring poetic and beautiful and melodious things, but declaring and opening and closing with spiritual keys while we sing, while we adore, while we celebrate and declare the Lordship of Christ.
We have to see ourselves operating in the kingdom of darkness and in the kingdom of light as well, opening and closing, tearing down and building, raising walls and tearing down walls, releasing and chaining demonic powers as well. And that is what we are doing this afternoon. Do not think that this is simply something emotional and, as we say, I do not know what word to use, symbolic in the purely superficial sense of the word. No, I don't think that at that moment we were operating and we were weakening.
The Lord has made clear to me that idea that just as we free a person from the power of the devil and liberation often occurs through a fight, a confrontation with the powers. If you have been in a situation of liberation, you see that the demons, when they have a person, begin with great arrogance, great sarcasm many times, great declarations of their power, and many times the demons while you declare the liberation of that person, They say, "I'm not leaving, I'm not leaving. She's mine or he's mine and I don't have to go and I'm not going to go."
And they start out very arrogant and then the person who is carrying out the liberation has the task of declaring to those spirits that they do have to leave and that this person does not belong to them and that they are staying there illegitimately and that the power of the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus draws them out and drives them away and defeats them. And they have to come out of that soul because it doesn't belong to them, but it belongs to Jesus Christ.
Now, that life has to do its part by repenting, acknowledging its sins, closing the doors that were opened to the enemy and then Satan has to flee. But those spirits then one sees many times throughout a liberation session, that they are weakening, and weakening. They are no longer so arrogant, they are simply clinging because they are stubborn and do not want to leave because in some mysterious way the company of a human being, I believe, because those spirits, the Bible says, that God has forced them to dwell in prisons of darkness
They inhabit a dark, cold dimension where the grace of God does not reach and these spirits are in a dungeon, a spiritual dungeon, humid, cold and they know that they are condemned to eternity in a terrible condition. And for some reason I believe that the company of a human being or their staying with a human being somehow brings them relief from their condition. Because God's grace and mercy and life dwell in those human beings, and they inhabit a region where there is none of that.
So when they enter those lives, when they exert their influence, they also bring their evil, they bring their virus, they bring their condition, and they affect those lives. Their nature they impart upon those lifetimes in which they are dwelling.
That is why the demon, for example, of the Gadarene demoniac, or the legion that possessed the Gadarene demoniac, did not want to leave and they begged Jesus Christ not to throw them out of there. When that demon-possessed man who lived in cemeteries and in dark places, because he had spirits that inhabited those regions. When the Lord struggles with them, because the Gadarene text suggests that the Lord struggled with the spirits and ordered them to come out and the time comes when they say, “don't take us out of here. If you are going to get us out, send us even some pigs.”
That is to say, they did not want to be in the air, they did not want to be deprived of some kind of refuge and the Lord, for reasons that we cannot understand, granted their request and allowed them to come out of that being because demons are not like beings. Spatial, in the sense that they do not occupy space, they occupy a supernatural, spiritual region. There could be legions, it was a legion, there are hundreds of soldiers. That man was possessed in a way... then the Lord sent them to another place and then they fell into the pigs, unclean beings and this man was released, and then he was left in his 5 senses.
These spirits seek to illegitimately take possession and perch on cities, on communities, on people, they perch on governments, they direct institutions, they direct cultural movements. The power of darkness is incredible, it is immense, it manifests itself in many different ways. But it has to take a struggle for a life to be released. It is a power struggle because these spirits do not want to give up that territory that they have conquered and that these people have allowed them to conquer. And for them to be banished from that comfortable room is the worst thing. And that is why you have to struggle with them, you have to fight with them.
And the liberation of a city, the liberation of an individual does not happen without first having a confrontation of power. And I have experienced many times that situation of a person possessed by the devil who does not want to….
For a person to be liberated, you have to make force, you have to make war. The Lord Jesus Christ says that, as I said before, to plunder the house of a strong man, and Satan and his demons are a fortress, first you have to bind him and then you can plunder his house.
Satan has entrenched himself over nations, over cities, over individuals, over cultural movements, over institutions of social work, universities. Generally the demons that we encounter and confront are demons of a much lower category. I believe that there are generals and there are demonic princes who rule over cities. They are exalted beings who rule over large movements and large territories. These demons generally we do not find on a person, they are too exalted for that.
Because the kingdom of darkness is an exalted kingdom. It is a demonic, psychopathic, sick kingdom, banished by God from the regions of grace, but it is a kingdom and it occupies an authority, but an evil authority and there are ranks. And there are ranks of demons that occupy very high regions and against those principalities, the church of Jesus Christ has to engage in war and declare Jesus' lordship in faith, declare him in authority, and I believe that when we wage spiritual warfare it is as if we were exercising a liberation at the level of a city, of neighborhoods.
I feel that God is calling us at this time to undertake the liberation of cities, not of an individual but of an entire city. And as in the liberation of an individual, Satan is not going to simply say, oh, okay, they told me to leave, well, I'm leaving with my tail between my legs. No, you have to struggle, you have to wage persistent war. You have to tire them out, you have to exhaust them, you have to file down their energy and strength until they give up.
And that is what he speaks to us here in the book of Exodus, and what I was listening to in my spirit while we were here making that struggle that has to be given for a people to be liberated, to enter their true destiny. This nation, this city, this region was conceived by men and women who wanted to dedicate to God a space where God would be adored and served as God deserves to be adored. Those people came from other nations here in the 17th century, in 1620 the first Puritans came to Plymouth to establish a nation that was a light on a hill.
What happens is that as soon as a people, a man, a woman, declares their affiliation with the Kingdom of God, immediately the powers of the devil begin to make war and try to iron out their commitment. And that is what happened in this nation. Over time this nation has been losing its course and it is not that it was never perfect, we understand this. But I can say, historically, if you look at it and despite all its mistakes and horrors that it has committed, that it was a nation that began with a healthy purpose of serving God. They weren't perfect. Who has been perfect in the history of humanity? They made their mistakes, they oppressed, they exiled Indians and other people and other institutions that were here and towns. But it is that history proceeds in impure ways.
Look at the history of Israel and you will see that they are a sinful people. Mistakes were made, but God had a purpose and God established this nation to be a nation, a light on a mountain. And this nation did a lot of good, the history of humanity has done a lot of good, but now at this time it has lost its course, and the devil has taken possession of it, just as he has taken possession of the nations because humanity has delivered him dominion to Satan.
The dominion that God gave to humanity, humanity has transferred to principalities and powers. And this is the time that I believe that God wants to do a great work and harvest souls and bring many souls to the knowledge of Jesus. God still has a purpose for this city of redemption and healing.
God wants to restore lives. At some point the Lord, at his time he is going to judge. I don't know when that moment will be, but I believe that God is calling us as a people now, to exercise our call so that this captive people, which is this city, this society, I do not know the scope of what God wants to do, I am not going to get lost in that, but I know that God wants to free many lives and God wants to free institutions and God wants to free cities and the people of God have to say, let those nations, let those cities leave so that they serve the Lord. Let those people out to serve the Lord.
And that is the drama of the Exodus, that is the drama of the exodus. God's people were captive in Egypt and God had a purpose. God raised up that people to serve him and worship him and God allowed his people to stay in Egypt for a while and to rise up, says the Bible, a day came, hundreds of years after Joseph died and he brought his family to Egypt , and Egypt served as a place for God's people to grow from about 70 people to a million men and women and children.
And when the moment declared by God arrived, the moment that he had already told Abraham that it would be taken for his people to come out of Egypt, Pharaoh who until then the pharaohs before him had been benevolent with Israel, this last pharaoh puts his it boots on the neck of the people of God and enslaves and oppresses them.
Because? Because God wanted to get him out of Egypt. The people were too comfortable and many times when God wants to take us to our destination, he makes the womb where we are uncomfortable. And I feel that God has told us, look, the time has come for you to be comfortable. And now I want you to enter into a war stance, to make an effort and be brave, I want you to declare my truth. You are at war because I want to do something great, I want to free lives.
So, at that moment God calls Moses. Because? Because the people of God cried out. Look what it says in Exodus 2:23, it says that:
“…It came to pass that after many days the king of Egypt died and the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage and cried out. And their cry went up to God because of their servitude…”
We have to cry out to God. We have to tell him, Lord, look at the oppression that your church is in, look at your dead churches, look at your oppressed churches, look at your churches where the devil prevents your miracles from manifesting. Look at the captive souls. Your church has no power for souls to convert. Your church is asleep. Your church is unable to play the prophetic role to which you have called it. Your church is mired in sin, in mediocrity and spiritual lukewarmness.
New England is a graveyard of churches, brethren. New England is governed by laws and principles that are contrary to the good of humanity. And people who do not understand the spiritual principles that govern the world and the universe, and who are spiritual children, clumsy, whom God has given to a reprobate mind, says the Bible, are ruling our cities and our nations. And the church itself has been contaminated with the spirit of Egypt. He likes the pots of meat and the onions and garlic of Egypt too much.
And we have to moan and cry out. If God has put in us a sense of urgency we have to groan and cry out and say, Lord, hear the cry. We are oppressed.
The Bible says that God heard their groaning and remembered. It's not that God forgot, but God kind of brought to memory, in a judicial way, what he had told him. He says he remembered his pact with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He activated the pact that was there as if asleep. It's like the gray of computers that at the moment turns black and you can click on the button and then the program exits.
I was there waiting. It was the moment. And when they groaned, the will of God was activated and you know what? They moaned because it was time to moan. They couldn't groan before God activated their hearts and God set up the proper circumstances for them to groan. They didn't groan at any time. Everything was built exactly as God wanted.
We now is when we have to moan. It is now, at this time, when God is saying to the Lion of Judah congregation, my people, now I want you to moan. There is oppression, there is demonization, things are dark, this is the time to groan. This is the time to cry out to me.
And when you groan, at the moment that I have determined, I will remember the pact that I established with this nation. I will remember the wells that were dug long ago, that are now mowed down by enemies. I will remember to remove that tares that the devil has planted when my children planted wheat and I am going to execute that. I will remember the pacts.
I believe that there are purposes that God has in this time and when we groan, and when we cry out to the Lord as we did this afternoon, the Lord will remember his pact.
And the Bible says in 25 that "... God looked at the children of Israel and God recognized them..."
He looked at them and recognized them. Do you know that's all it takes? Simply that God looks at us and recognizes us as his children, recognizes us as his delegated authority here on earth, I recognize us as the instrument that he has chosen to effect a liberation and to carry out an eternal and holy purpose.
All it takes is for God to look. When I had that dream years ago of the Lion of Judah over the city of Boston, about a cloud of poisonous spiders, I have always said it, what I saw was the head of the Lion of Judah like a plane but I saw its eyes. I was allowed to see his eyes and they were eminently human eyes, wise, compassionate, loving, but also full of authority.
The lion had no legs, it had no tail, it had nothing except a face and two eyes that impressed me. And those two eyes looked over the stage below him. And I understood in my spirit, when I saw those eyes, that when he looked, he exercised authority. He didn't need to move a lot, or shout a lot or do anything, he just looked and I understood in my spirit that when he looked, he was saying “I have authority over his powers. I govern them, I determine their movement, I allow them to move for the time that I determine. But I'm in control of that."
And that is why I extended my hand and my finger, and said three times from below, from where I was, you are the Lord, you are the Lord, you are the Lord. Because what God needs is just to look at a situation. He doesn't need to flinch. He does not have to war against Satan. The Lord is almighty. Satan does not have the power, Satan moves only when God allows him to. And Satan has the scope to operate to the extent that God allows him to. And Satan has dominion for as long as God allows him to. But when God looks with authority he says, it's time for you to go, he has to go. It is time for my people to be activated. It is time for my people to be released, it is time for my people to receive a fresh anointing. It is time for my people to do what I created them for.
When the people of God receive that look from God and are recognized as his representative on earth, then it is time for Pharaoh to let his people go, so that his people fulfill the destiny that God has.
I believe that it is time for us to fulfill the destiny that God has for us. But we have to groan and cry out before God. It says that God looked and recognized them. We have to ask the Lord, Lord, recognize us, extend his scepter towards us and touch us with your legitimacy, and give us the dominion and authority that we have.
So, God calls Moses, and Moses was being prepared. 80 years ago God had preserved the life of Moses to serve him. Ironically, God raised Moses in the very bowels of the devil, of Pharaoh, to squeeze that in his face. He put Pharaoh to educate Moses. Moses grew up as the adopted son of Pharaoh's daughter, and was trained. And the skills that Moses acquired in Egypt, God was going to use to free his people. God prepared Moses.
We are, you know what? We are in the very bowels of the devil here in this place at 68 Northampton Street. This is a place, here is a magical and magnetic place. I'm not a new age, but here in this area, this area is a magnetic place. That is why there has been so much evil here, so much drugs, so much alcoholism, there are so many wandering people. Southend and Roxbury is one of the most concentrated areas of social need and social services.
Here is the largest asylum in all of New England. Yes sir, here it is, Solomon Carter Fuller Center. Until recently here was one of the liquor stores, I think the largest in this entire region, right there, Blanchards. The Lord removed it, thank God, and set up a pharmacy.
Here is the first homeless and abused women's shelter, and it's called Rosie's Place, they're in our backyard. Here's one of the biggest centers, and I think it's the first, if not definitely the first, biggest homeless shelter in all of Pine Street Inn. That is a huge, multimillion-dollar institution for drug addicts, alcoholics, the homeless and homeless, it is here, in our backyard. Here is the hospital on our corner, Boston Medical Center, which used to be Boston City Hospital, once a sinister and notorious place.
If you were injured or had to have surgery, you didn't want to go to Boston City Hospital. Now, it has become one of the best places for trauma and other things in all of New England, Boston Medical Center. But it is here, an immense center of need.
We moved to a place where we had Dog's Café, a seedy bar, controlled, I think, by the mafia, right in front of us. God removed it, thank God, put a parking lot. Let's pray that what comes there is a blessing and not oppression and struggle for the people of God.
This area over here, and I say this with respect and if you don't sit down, forgive me, but this area has also become the center of the gay community for all of New England. It's the most powerful place, maybe the other one is over there, Province Town. But this place here, Southend, is the stronghold of homosexuality. And it is a powerful principality. I love homosexuals, I believe that God has purposes for them. We are no better than them, I see them with compassion, love, mercy, and I wish this church would be filled with homosexuals seeking liberation and healing from God. And we would receive them, honored to have them, you know? And I bless you in the name of Jesus.
But I ask that the Lord break their chains and set them free, and I ask that the Lord give us the ability and the power to break their chains if they want release. May we not just offer them cheap theology and religion, but rather tell them, Christ makes you well. Christ sets you free and may God give us the power to do so.
But this is a place, this area is a place of evil and where darkness rules a lot, a lot, a lot, and there are many rulers in this city who are sold on everything that has to do with liberalism. This is an area of rationalism, of arrogance against God, of people with great intellectual professions, people who are very sure of themselves, people who look with distaste at the people who believe in the living God and in Jesus who is Lord of Lords and King. of Kings. Many people in this zone and in these areas that are contaminated with the virus of reason and intellectualism and self-sufficiency, and arrogance against God and believing that humanity, humanism is the maximum value of humanity.
We are in Egypt, in other words, and where we are at the center, like Moses, God has put us here to dispossess the Egyptians. God has put us here to be a liberating people, and you know what? People like us have been chosen, Hispanics, blacks, many of us people who do not have great education or great money, but God always likes to use the poor of the earth, the slaves, because he used Moses, who was from a slave race and the Hebrew people who were an enslaved race, and used them to defeat Pharaoh.
And God wants to use us. He is not going to use the liberal churches that have sold themselves to a Gospel that is not a rationalistic Gospel, and that have compromised the truth of God. And he's not using rich people or using a distinguished congregation.
As the Apostle Paul says, there are not many of you, neither very distinguished nor very rich, nor very recognized, because God has used the poor and weak of the earth to shame the wise and the great. And it is not because we are better than anyone, simply because we are perhaps the worst, and the smallest.
But we are here in the very jaws and the very bowels of Pharaoh. And I believe that God is raising up a people here in this place, and is preparing us to do great things and set us free. And that is why God called Moses and God, in verse 7 of chapter 3 says:
“…Then Jehovah said, “I have well seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry because of their exactors, for I have known their anguish and I have descended to deliver them out of the hands of the Egyptians and to bring them out of that land to a good and broad land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the places of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Pherese, the Hivit, and the Jebusite. So come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh… - says verse 10 - … to bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt….”
Moisés's reaction, I'm going to tuck this in as soon as I can. Moses' reaction is what we may feel.
“…Who am I, said Moses, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt…”
Maybe you feel, I feel disqualified, certainly I don't feel like such an exalted mission falls to us. And perhaps you feel, what can I do in my neighborhood, in my family, in my city so that God uses me?
Look, God wants to use you and all that is required is that you believe in the Lord and that you consecrate your life to him, and that you walk before the Lord, and that you abandon yourself to God's plans, and that you believe that God has called you for a great purpose and that you take God's call seriously, that you stop playing evangelical and become a warrior of God and that you cry out to the Lord, and get up a little earlier and consecrate from time to time From time to time, a few hours, one morning to fast and pray, and seek the face of God and tell him, Lord, what do you want me to do in the economy of your kingdom? How do you want to use me? What do you want me to do to advance your purposes? Use me Enlighten me, empower me, give me your power. I am ambitious to do something for you, Lord, and I am willing to pay the price.
Do not feel inadequate, the task is great, but look how the Lord answers Moses, when he says who am I? Says,
“…Therefore, come now and I will send you to Pharaoh so that you may bring the children of Israel out of Egypt… –then he says further on -… and he answered, Go, because I will be with you and this will be a sign that I I have sent you. When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will serve God on this mountain…”
There is a lot of cloth to cut. I don't think God is going to make things easy for us. Ultimately we will know that we are in the perfect will of God when we see his power manifested, when we see what God has called us to do actualized. And one day, I know, that we are going to stand over this congregation and we are going to see the glory that God will have manifested, the miracles that he will have done, the signs that he will have sent down, the lives, the thousands of lives healed and saved for Christ, portents and prodigies that he will have done. And we will say, great things Jehovah has done with us. And we will understand that this was not a game. This was not a chimera, this was not a quixotic dream, but rather a true call from God.
I continually struggle with the feeling that God has called me, he has called us to something great and I continually doubt, I assure you brothers, and I say, Lord, believe me, while I was in there, during the second service, while I listened to the adoration at the beginning, I said, Lord, if this is not from you, this expectation that I have that you are going to do great things, take it away from me. I ask the Lord more times to take away this sense of expectation that God is going to do something great, to keep it for me because I doubt, doubt, doubt.
I feel that what God has told me is so great and so heavy, that I say, that is a chimera. Many times while I wait and wait I say, Lord, and I say Lord, I am very happy to pastor my church locally, if that is all you have for me, take away the rest. I don't want to live because that distorts my way of acting and hoping. It distorts my life. If it's not what you said, remove it. I am comfortable just being a local pastor and not aiming too big.
But I believe that when God calls us, that is the answer, one doubts. Gideon says, “…how do you call me, a strong and courageous man. I am the smallest of my tribe and my tribe is the smallest of all Israel…”
One always doubts, Moses doubted and there is a string of rejections of God's will. Who I am? God says, look, I am with you and when you see my glory manifested, then you will know that it was I who was speaking to you.
And one has to launch in faith, one has to move in faith. I assure you, brothers, that many times half of the things that I say, I myself do not believe. While I am saying something inside me is saying, and if it is not true, if you make a fool of yourself, if you declare things that are not going to be fulfilled?
But at this time I have to declare them by faith, by mouth out and God will do his work in my heart. Because I believe that we have to declare the things that God has told us, we cannot remain silent. He is the one who knows what he is doing. This is the time to shout and say the things that God has, even if our flesh doesn't believe it, even if we look tiny, but God says, I'm going to be with you. And the sign that I am going to give you is that when you see what you felt in your heart that I was going to do, accomplished, then you will know that it was not you but me who put it in your spirit and in your heart. .
Moses asks a question, “…if they ask me what is his name that he sent me, who will I answer that he sends me? And God answered Moses, I am who I am..."
We have to announce to the powers of the devil, to humanity out there, the one who sends us is the one who I am who I am. He is God, Jehovah of hosts, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Almighty, the All-Knowing, the One who is all-love, all-righteous, all-truth, all-holiness, all-authority. That is the one who sends us.
And we have to introduce people to a living God, a sovereign God, a God who owns everything. And we have to tell them, this is the one who sent me, this is the Lord who sent me.
And the last thing, in verse 19, chapter 3, God says to Moses, even in verse 9 he says:
"... Tell Pharaoh therefore we will now go three days' journey through the desert to offer sacrifice to the Lord our God...."
There are many people out there that God wants to worship him. Many people that God wants to declare his lordship, there are many people that God wants to turn into worshipers, healers, preachers, restorers, counselors, evangelists. They are out there and God wants them to worship him and we have to tell Pharaoh, let those people go to worship and serve the Lord. Let them go from their chains so they can worship.
Here's the punch line, here's the end. God tells Moses:
"... More I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go except by a strong hand..."
You see? God knew that Pharaoh was not going to leave those people who represented money, manpower, who facilitated many of the economic things in Egypt. Like here in the United States, this nation did not want to let the slaves go because they represented terrible economic interests. And if this nation freed hundreds of thousands of slaves, it would no longer have labor for its farms and its kitchens and to till its land and to wash its clothes. And it was like an addict getting detoxed immediately, they were too addicted and that's why this nation, ever since they declared independence, they knew what was coming.
In the 18th century they knew that at some point, what they were declaring was a contradiction of those blacks that they had enslaved. They said that all men have been created equal by God, to pursue well-being and blessing. And as they wrote that, they knew there were a lot of men and women, they didn't want to acknowledge their humanity. But they knew that sooner or later they were going to have to deal with that curse and that injustice. And since they did not want to release those poor people from the earth of their own free will, God pulled them out with a strong hand. A million Americans died in the civil war. The most horrific war that had been waged up to then.
This nation had to pay every illegitimate penny and they are still paying with interest for everything they have done to Native Americans, and Black people and all the oppression they have done. Because God still charges his people for their sins. They had to let those people go, they had to let them go.
But the devil doesn't let go of his captives, you know, except by a strong hand. Whose strong hand? Of God. God's justice, God's word, God's truth, God's love and compassion. But the devil is a being… he is the strong man, he does not let go unless a power stronger than him comes and forces him to loosen his grip on the chains he has on humanity. The devil won't let go of Boston, he won't let go of Roxbury, he won't let go of Southend, he won't let go of youth, he won't let go of hospitals, he won't let go of Harvard University or Boston University or Boston College It's not going to let go of Southend, it's not going to let go of the centers of government or finance unless it's taken away from it, unless it's tied up first, unless a people of God...
And how does the people of God tie? With his mouth on the authority that God has given him. He tells Satan, let God's people go because it is necessary for those people to worship him. And God allows a struggle to take place. God doesn't let go. This church is in a struggle to enter into its destiny and into its calling, to enter into what God has for us. And you have to struggle with the forces of darkness to get them to let this city out and that's why you and I have to testify.
I am speaking in a prophetic sense and what I am saying scares me, because it is a commitment that we have. We have to let the powers of darkness know, inform them, they have to let go of the souls that God has destined, to come out to worship him.
The Lord says, “…I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all the wonders that I will do in it and then it will let you go. And I will give this people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians, so that when you go out you will not go empty-handed, but each woman will ask her neighbor and her guest for silver jewelry, gold jewelry, and clothing, which you will put on your sons and your daughters and you will spoil Egypt…”
You know what? God has a time of provision, of blessing for this church, for us. The Hebrews came out with great treasure, great possessions. And do you know how it was? God hypnotized them and the Hebrew neighbor went to her Egyptian neighbor and told her, I want gold, I want the silver that you have there in your house, give me some jewelry, give me some precious metallic things. And the Egyptian, as if in a trance, told her, okay, I'm going to give it to you. And he delivered.
The war was a spiritual war. Armies generally loot their enemies after killing them and being killed. But in this case it was grace that prevailed. God gave grace. God hypnotized. Everything they stole from the Hebrews by enslaving them, Egypt had to give them willingly. And when they left Egypt they left blessed, they left prosperous, they left with a good deposit to start their new life.
And so, I believe, that God has spoils for us, brothers. If we do God's will, God has a blessing for us, but first we have to fight. Pharaoh is not going to let his victims out unless it is with a strong hand. First there has to be a drama, first there has to be plagues, first there has to be war, first there has to be confrontation, first there has to be outcry, first there has to be a declaration of God's will, and at the end of that confrontation comes the blessing, the spoils come, the free souls come, and the people of God are released to go and adore the Lord as God wants them to adore him.
Let's stand up. And that is the word of God for this congregation, for you and for me. It is the time of maturity. It is the time of adulthood. It's time to stop playing dolls. It's time to put your wrists aside and pick up a sword, pick up a mallet, pick up a hammer, pick up a cannon, pick up a dagger in the spirit and start using those weapons.
The word says that the weapons of our militia are not carnal, but powerful in God for the destruction of strongholds. Take a weapon in your hand right now, raise your hand and there you have a weapon. Believe it in the name of Jesus. I have a gun right now. I have a gun, I look like my brother Sanabria, I have a gun, that's a private joke. I have a gun in my hand right now, pick it up that gun. That weapon God puts in your hand. You have a weapon there, my brother, my sister, some have even two weapons. This sister has both hands raised.
You have a gun in your hand. The Lord puts a weapon, a word, the Lord puts a weapon. Put a sword, put a mallet, put a shield, put a projectile, put a spear in your hand, people of God, I deliver it into your hand. I deliver spiritual weapons, weapons of light, weapons of love, weapons of compassion, weapons of mercy, weapons of freedom, weapons of prosperity, weapons of spiritual lucidity so that people may be liberated.
I put in the name of Jesus in your hands weapons of spiritual warfare. Heart of a warrior, identity of a soldier, confidence of a prince, attitude of royalty, heart of a priest, people, so that you enter the territory of the devil and tell the demons, let it go, let it go, let it go because the Lord says, let him go to go and worship the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
And we say to the city of Boston, Boston you are free and we say to Satan and his powers, let this city go, let this nation go. Let go of the youth, let go of the institutions so that they are free and so that they see the truth and understand who is the true one and what is the true and only way in Jesus name.
Receive your weapons, people. I receive my weapon at this moment in the name of Jesus. I receive my stones and my sling in the name of Jesus to throw them against the very forehead of the giant, in the name of Christ. Receive your weapons, people of God. We bless you, Lord. We commission this town as a warrior town, we commission it as a military town and I bless its mouth, its mind, its heart, its body.
And, Father, we cover this community with the blood of the lamb, because Satan is vengeful and cynical. Satan, you have no part or lot with this town. You have no power to hurt in it, you have no power to havoc or confuse or divide. I declare health and protection over this town, their homes, their families, their health, their children, their finances in the name of Jesus.
And we will go out and worship the Lord out of Egypt and do His will and despoil Egypt to the glory of Jesus' name. Thank you, Lord, thank you, Jesus. Receive your weapons, people, receive your commission, people.
