Summary: The sermon discusses the concept of a promise and how it generates a sense of hope and confidence. The speaker gives examples of promises made in different situations, such as marriage vows, promises to pray for someone, and loan agreements. The greatest gesture of a promise, the speaker says, is seen in the covenant God has made with his people. The sermon looks at biblical examples of God's promise of companionship, such as in Exodus 33 and Joshua 1. The speaker emphasizes that God's promises are beautiful and reassuring, but also notes that they do not guarantee an easy path and that we must strive to be brave. The sermon concludes with the reminder that we have a company promise from God.

The speaker talks about the promise of God's company and protection in the midst of life's difficulties, using Joshua's conquest of 31 kings as an example. They encourage the audience to be brave and not fear, knowing that God is with them wherever they go. They end with a prayer for the church and for a member who is experiencing health issues.

Let me go share something that I was meditating on today and if you remember correctly, when we started the service today, we started by reading that psalm 91 where it talks about having Jesus, how does it say? He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will dwell under whom?

So, we are talking about a sense of protection from God, a sense of company, of presence. And today I would like to talk to you about this topic: A company promise. I want to talk to you about this, a company promise. So if you can do me a big favor, you can say to the person next to you, get ready because God wants to talk to you. There is a word for you today and so I believe it. There is something for you today in my heart, amen, I receive it. I believe so, I believe that God already gave me my portion and I am going to share it with you now.

A company promise. If I were to ask you, my brothers, what is a promise? As a good student, I began to search and found the following answer or definition in the dictionary. The dictionary defines a promise as a solemn offer, I liked that, a solemn offer that is equivalent to an oath to fulfill the duties of a position or function to be performed.

Let me repeat it. An offer that is equivalent to an oath to fulfill well, look at that, to fulfill the duties of a position or function that is going to be performed well. I am, in other words, this indicates a person who undertakes to fulfill or exercise something in favor of or for the welfare of another person.

If I give you several examples of this, when you get married at the altar, what do you do? One makes a promise to be for that person in sadness, in joy, in poverty or in riches, in health, in illness. Those are the vows, those are those promises and one says, look, I'm making an oath with this person that I'm going to keep that promise well, that I'm going to be with you, that I'm going to take care of you, that I'm going to you to protect, I will supply your needs.

Another promise that one can see is, if you have a brother, a sister, a friend who are thick and thin, as I say sometimes, and you find that person in need and you commit to that person , and you say, look, I promise you that I am going to pray for this week every day at 9 in the morning, I am going to put you in prayer. But I am not saying those promises that yes, I am going to pray, but tomorrow I forget that I told that person that I was going to pray. I am talking about those promises where one says, look, I promise you that on such a day, at such an hour, in fact, in such a corner of my house, I will be praying for you. You can be sure of that. And throughout that week the days go by and you are at the time you said, in the place you said, praying for that person. And you keep that promise and that promise brings a blessing to that person.

Another example that perhaps many of us find very good is when you sign a loan at the bank. Sorry I didn't mean to bring that to your memory!! But it is another example, because you are making a promise to pay your house in 15, 20 or 30 years, and if you do not fulfill that, there are consequences. Ok, you can pray for yourselves later to be forgiven.

But, of course, the greatest gesture of a promise, my brothers, is seen in the person of God. It is the covenant God of whom we sing, of whom we pray, of whom we speak. God who is committed to his people. As I was saying a few minutes ago, even when these people often insist on walking with their backs to God, God remains there. God said, no, no, no. I have made a solemn offering. I swore an oath that I am going to fulfill my duties as God, my position as God, and that I will exercise the functions that I have to perform even if you turn your back on me, but I will be there. A company promise.

Look, such a gesture, this is where I see the beauty of a promise, such a gesture will generate in us a sense of hope. Isn't that what makes a promise? If I promise you something, you will hope that you will receive something according to what you have been promised. You will have a sense of hope that will encourage you toward the future and also encourage you concerning your present. Because then your present, that hope nourishes you and day after day you go in the direction of that future, and therefore, we are living with a sense of hope that fills us both in this current time in which we are now, as well as It drives us to keep going.

So that hope, lastly, in the equation, as I would say, that hope gives us a sense of confidence. If there is a person who made a promise that he will fulfill something in my favor, that will give me hope and since I am hopeful, that hope will give me a sense of confidence in that person, that that person will not betray, that person is not going to disappoint me, that I can count on that person. And that is God for us.

Look at something in a biblical example. Go with me to Exodus, Chapter 33. I am going to give different Biblical examples but I think they are very key, which can shed a lot of light on what we are talking about. Exodus, Chapter 33, I am going to read from verse 12 onwards, a promise of company, look how Moses is talking to God in this event where Moses is, as if to say, groping with God, look, you have brought us here and You are taking us now to the promised land, but before we enter the promised land, I want to make sure that you are going with us. Well, look, how this conversation takes place:

“….Moses said to the Lord, verse 12, look, you told me, take this people out and you have not told me who you are going to send with me. However, you say, I have known you by name and you have also found grace in my eyes. Now then, if I have found grace in your eyes, I beg you to show me now your way so that I may know you and find grace in your eyes and see that these people are your people..."

I don't know, but these words are something, like something ironic, it's like, okay, Moses is saying, I know I've found grace, but I'm going to ask you to give me grace. It's like, ok, either you do your hair or you do curlers, which do you want to do? Do you have it or do you not? But if we understand the context of this passage correctly, what Moses is saying is that from the moment you called me to bring the people out of Egypt up to here, you have shown me, as if to say, a portion of your grace, but now From this moment on I need to see something new, more or less that is what Moses is wanting to let God know. did you understand?

So look at how God responds, verse 14:

"... My presence will go with you and I will give you rest..."

Then, Moses told him: "... If your presence does not go with me, do not take me out of here..."

In other words, I want to be very sure. So, if your presence is not with me, I'm not going there.

"... And in what will it be known here that I have found grace in your eyes, I and people, but that you walk with us and that I and your people are separated from all the peoples that are on the face of the earth..."

If I paraphrase that verse there, what Moses is wanting to let God know is that, look, the only way we can know that your presence goes with us, is that wherever we go, the people, the towns where we are, they realize that you are with us, that we don't have to say, God is with us, but the mere one of us enter some place, and people understand like, wow! Those people have tremendous bodyguard with them. Why is it going to be noticed? So, that's what Moses is wanting to ask God for. And then, look, God is so good-natured, no, not good-natured, so good, God says to Moses:

"…Did you know? I will also do what you have said because you have found grace in my eyes and I have known you by name…”

So God is confirming this promise to Moses. In the beginning, when he called him, look at the encounter that Moses had with God in the bush, at that moment when God called him, and told him, "Go, get my people out, present yourself to Pharaoh and get them out of there." And Moses begins to say, oh, who am I, if I'm a gago, I don't know how to speak, send Aaron. What was it that God told him? He told her, "I'm going to be with you," he made that promise. I'm going to be with you. He made her a company promise and he kept it. He demonstrated it with signs, with wonders, the gaguera left him because Aaron did not have to speak for him but he did.

So, God demonstrated that promise of companionship to Moses. And now here at this point in life he is reaffirming it, telling him, look, Daddy, you've found grace with me, you're cool, there's a good vibe between you and me, but if you want more, look, I'll tell you, My presence is going to go with you. I am reaffirming my promise that I am going to be with you. And you know how the story continues.

There was that promise, and that promise then moved to this other character that fascinates me and I love it, and it's not because it's my middle name, but I'm talking about Josué. When we see the story of Josué, look at Josué, chapter 1, I told you a secret, in case you didn't know, my name is Omar Josué. Look how God says to Joshua, When Moses dies, Joshua, chapter 1 God says to Joshua:

“…My servant Moses is dead. Now therefore, arise and cross this Jordan, you and all this people to the land that I give to the children of Israel. I have given you, as I had told Moses, every place where the sole of your foot may tread, from the desert of Lebanon to the great river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites to the great sea, where the sun sets. , it will be your territory…”

So here this verse fascinates me, receive it as if it were God speaking to you. Look how he says:

“…No one will be able to face you in all the days of your life, as I was with Moses, I will be with you…”

I will be with you. Look here he affirms it even more, he tells him:

“…I will not leave you nor forsake you…”

The promise is renewed once more. A company promise. I'm going to be with you. Hey look at this. Let me make a parenthesis here.

Look what a beautiful thing. As God fishes us, so to speak. God gives us these beautiful and beautiful promises, I will be with you. I am not going to leave you. I'm not going to abandon you. My presence will be with you. I'm going to go with you. But he does not tell us the problems that we are going to find along the way. I think that for something obvious he told Joshua on 3 occasions, strive and be brave, verse 6. What does verse 7 tell him?

“…Just push yourself and be very brave. And then in verse 9 what does he say? See that I command you to strive and be brave, do not fear or dismay because Jehovah your God will be with you wherever you go..."

A company promise. Today you are going to leave here with that phrase engraved in your head. You have a company promise. And I am going to tell you how you can prove that you have a company promise. But look, to finish my parenthesis. Do you know why I tell you that God knows how to fish us out and trick us? Coax us, no, no, no. Sorry, how to catch us, captivate us, fall in love, that's what I meant. He presents us with all these promises that are so beautiful, so beautiful.

Hey, look, wherever you put your foot, that's going to be yours. Do you want a car? Go and step on it, it will be yours. Do you want a house? Go, step on it, it will be yours. It's a joke that I heard: do you want a wife, a husband? Step on it, step on it, claim it in the name of the Lord. If they give you a song, well, you know... but complain, that, that is, they are beautiful and beautiful promises that the Lord gives us. One sees all the glimpses of those promises that the Lord is giving us, that he is telling us, that he is mentioning to us and one, wow!

Imagine Abraham when he says, look at the sky, look at the stars, do you see all that? This is how your offspring will be. I imagine Abraham there, the drools like this coming out. Wow! But he didn't tell her all the problems he was going to encounter along the way.

Look, a very interesting detail from the story of Joshua. Do you know how many kings Joshua had to conquer in his time? Josué, chapter 11, look at this, verse 24, here it gives you the summary because if I start saying it to everyone I'm going to make them dizzy. But Joshua in total was able to defeat 31 kings, 31 kings. That means that for each king, we are talking about a different nation or country. So, not only did he defeat that king, but with that king he also defeated the entire army that was on that king's side. 31, altogether.

In other words, it is like saying, 31 problems he had to face in his life and perhaps if you start to do the math, you will tell me, ah, well, I am better than Josué because I have 67 or some of you will have 80 and something, don't throw it at me so much at 500,000, please. That is the nature of the Hispanic, of the Latino, it is hyperbolic. God has to deal in that area with us. No, boy, a fight broke out there and there were about a thousand people involved, and there were only 3, I saw it all.

But look at this, my brothers, this is a detail that I think is very important. Do you know why? Because with the promise of the Lord, obviously he is not saying that you are going to have an absence of problems and circumstances that you have to face. But what this is meaning is that with each one of those 31 kings that Joshua had to face, there was the presence of God with him. Because? Because there was a promise of companionship, there was a promise of protection. There was a promise that although David said this, some time later, because I'm sure who knows if Joshua himself had thought, the one who lives in whose shadow? Will dwell under whom? That's why I ask you, because I forget. I want you to refresh it.

Even in the midst of adversities, problems, or difficulties, the promise is manifested in the fact that the company of God goes with each one of us throughout all these circumstances. God does not walk away. God stays with us. God uses these circumstances to mold us, to treat us, to make us more in accordance with the image that he wants us to have, the format of the head, of thought that he wants us to have, and God uses, my brothers, all the things to keep us there. But that further confirms the mere fact that he has a promise about your life, and it is the mere fact, that he wants to spend time with you.

How can I confirm this? What does Jesus say in Matthew, chapter 28? Can someone remind me. What does the great commission say? Because I forgot. Tell me, they are going well, they are going well... Jesus says, therefore go and do... where? All nations, and what is there to do? Baptize them in the name of the Son of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the things that I have commanded,

See how the promise of the company of God is confirmed again. What does he say next? And behold, I am with you every day until the end of the world.

Listen, I don't know about you, but when I think about it, and I look back, I say to myself, wow, Lord, you were with all these people throughout history and that promise of your company has not failed. It has not ceased, it has not ended, because in the words of Jesus, those words where he was telling the disciples, go all over the world, preach the Gospel, baptize them, teach them all the things that I have taught you. , and with that same teaching comes that point where Jesus himself is saying, and I am with you until the end of the world, every day until the end of the world.

Listen to me, my brother, what is the purpose with me sharing this word with you tonight? When you leave here, leave with a sense of hope, leave with a sense of confidence knowing that the Lord is with you, don't let it sound like a cliché. Yeah, ya, old time story, God is with me. If you think so, hmm, I wonder, if God is really there. Well, yes God is there, but we are ignoring him.

But that promise, my brothers, goes with us wherever we go. Whatever happens when you leave this door, and obviously may God cover you, may God protect you, may he lull you to sleep in his living room and may he protect you well, but whatever happens, when we leave here and We arrive at our house, our work, we meet our friends, colleagues, friends of yesteryear that when we look at them they give us a nervous tic like, oh, this person. Look, come what may, you have a promise that God is with you, that God is giving you company, that God is directing you, that God opens doors and closes doors, that God has committed to you. to fulfill a series of functions that are on your part to bless your life.

And in the same way we have to live in the light of that word, my brothers and sisters. If God, as Paul says in Romans, if God is for us, who can be against us? In the midst of these adversities, see if problems will come into our lives and they will try to confuse us, they will try to cajole us, there I can use that word, for us to lose focus on what God truly wants to do in our life, but look, even in the midst of that, God puts his hand. God covers, protects, takes out, puts, he does his thing so that we can see and understand that he is there with us.

So, my brothers, as Joshua is told, I command you to strive and be brave. When you go out through that door or through this one, whatever door you go out of, make an effort, be brave. May the cold not freeze your thoughts, nor freeze your spirit. Whatever situation you are going to face when you walk out those doors, give it a name, fill in the blank, whatever the situation, strive, be brave, do not fear, do not faint. Because? Because God is with you wherever you go.

When you go to work, say it, God is with me. When you go to bed, the Lord is with me. Someone comes up with a piece of gossip, see if you do this, that, the other, God is with me, neutralize that thought. God gives you that ability. God does not make his children soft puppets who cannot do anything, but God gives you the power and authority so that you can carry out all those things, all the things that he wants you to do.

So let's stand up, my brothers, and let's go with this word of encouragement, of hope, of confidence. In fact, let's read Psalm 91 again, please.

Do you have psalm 91 there with me? Let's all read it together. This is going to be our prayer.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Will I say to Jehovah, my hope and my castle, my God in whom will I trust? He will free you from the hunter's bond, from the destructive plague, with his feathers he will cover you and under his wings you will be safe. Shield and buckler is his truth. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that walks in the darkness, nor the mortality that destroys at noonday; a thousand and ten thousand will fall at your side, but they will not come to you.

Surely with your eyes you will look and see the reward of the wicked because you have put the Lord, who is my hope, the Most High, for your habitation. Evil will not come upon you nor plague will touch your dwelling, for his angels will command near you, to guard you in all your ways. they will carry you in their hands so that your foot does not strike a stone, you will tread on the lion and the asp, you will trample the lion cub and the dragon, because he has placed his love in me, I will also deliver him, I will set him on high, because you have known my name. He will call upon me and I will answer him. With him I will be in anguish, I will free him and glorify him, I will satisfy him with long life and I will show him my salvation.

Dear God, we recognize that these are words that you give to your people, you give to your sons and daughters. They are promises from you, from your company in the midst of our lives. And, Lord, I declare these words, my God, we have declared them together, we have confessed them over our lives, knowing, Lord, that our safety is in you. So once again I declare this town blessed, protected by you, Lord, and together with one voice, we also raise a cry for a brother of this church, Lord, for my brother David Muñoz.

Father, you know their health situation, my God, how this family is experiencing different situations and adversities at this time. Father, I beg you that these words that have been preached, Lord, is more, I send them right now on the life of David and Lord, I declare that he can feel your company now more than ever, Lord. I declare that no plague will come upon his life, Lord, and that you are the one who heals him, that you are the one who frees him, my God. Right now his life, Lord, is in your hands and we ask that you lift him up, that you heal his being completely and that this serve as a testimony to his entire family that you are with them, that you are in the midst of them, that you give them your company, and that you are the one who protects them.

Father, we declare his life blessed by you. And likewise, Lord, I bless this people, my God. I declare that it is you directing them that when they leave here, that they can leave with the certainty, the hope, the confidence that the promise of your company goes with them wherever they go. We thank you Lord Jesus, we love you and we bless you in Jesus name. Amen and amen. Thank you Lord Jesus. Thanks God.
