Samuel Acevedo
Summary: The speaker discusses the importance of praise and worship in connecting with God. He notes that the ultimate goal of praise and worship is to facilitate a connection between individuals and God. The speaker also acknowledges that it can be difficult to enter into praise and worship, but encourages individuals to offer the Lord the fruit of their lips, even if it is a sacrifice. The speaker references Hebrews 13:15 and discusses the importance of holiness and sanctification in accessing the presence of the Lord. He emphasizes that God is the source of all good things and that we need Him in our lives.
The Lord created humans and desired to have a relationship with them. He came down to earth and sacrificed himself on the cross to tear the veil of the temple and give humans access to His presence. However, humans must make an intentional effort to leave their busy lives and enter the presence of the Lord. The writer of Hebrews describes a supernatural, spiritual, invisible dimension that is real and can be accessed through the sacrifice of praise. Angels and chariots of fire surround the house of God, and the sacrifice of praise is a way to enter that dimension. It may feel strange at first, but it is a necessary sacrifice.
The speaker encourages the audience to enter into the presence of the Lord and offer their praise and worship. He emphasizes that the Lord listens to prayers and can provide wisdom, peace, goodness, grace, and mercy. The speaker leads the audience in an exercise to offer their own psalm of adoration to the Lord and declare their faith in Him as their provider, healer, protector, and deliverer. The speaker encourages the audience to offer their "lip fruit" to the Lord, even if they don't fully understand or feel it.
I want to invite brother Samuel Acevedo, he has the word of God for us. This morning was a great blessing to the people of God. Let's listen to the word of God now and get in the mood to receive through this way.
Let's pray my brothers. Lord, we thank you for your presence, which has been so palpable, and we thank you, Lord, for this word that is life and effective, and sharper than a two-edged sword.
Now God's spirit blows on her, open our minds, open our hearts and do the work that You long to do, in our lives through her. We plead with you in the name of Jesus.
My brothers, you have noticed how much we have adored and praised the Lord this afternoon, just like this morning we had our praise and adoration for the week.
We had our praise and adoration this morning the same as today and the presence of the Lord was felt.
We fought for it, we have… God has blessed us with a team of worshipers and the Lord used them this morning and if that wasn't enough we experienced praise and worship through the dance and the talents of Sister Dulce and if that wasn't enough we are already instructing the worshipers of the next generation and one of these days we will be used to seeing Leo and Isabel blessing us here, praising and worshiping the Lord together.
Now let's start with a question: Why all the praise? Why so many efforts? Why this machinery that is raised? A whole company that has risen, so much care that is given to it and this, brothers, does not include everything else.
The projection is part of the worship and praise team. The brothers who work the sound to ensure that the sound is perfect, that the microphones all work as they should, that the instruments are all in tune.
All of this is part of a very precise and very sacred exercise, a target that we want to reach, and the answer is this, first of all we want to please God, of course, Amen.
We want to bless God, we do it for Him, but the other answer is just as important. It's for you, it's for you, you.
My brothers, the most important adoration and praise that takes place in this Church or in any Church, in the Church of Jesus Christ, the adoration that is worth the most, without exaggeration and that matters most to the Lord is the adoration that comes out of each individual heart.
The point, brothers, the objective of adoration and praise, what we want to achieve with adoration and praise, the desire of these musicians, the desire of those who raise adoration here, those who dance, those who sing, those who tune, those who work, the desire is that you adore the Lord and that the Spirit that is... the word is "facilitate", the whole team exists to facilitate the sublime exchange between a fearsome holy God, seated in holiness and your Spirit; that it connects, that it dialogues, that your Spirit will open itself to Him and that in this atmosphere we have a keyboard, we have a guitar, we have computers or we have a girl with a tambourine and maracas, as happens in so many houses that offer their spaces for a cell.
The machinery, the importance of the machinery does not compare, the vehicle, the instrument, finally the objective, which is that our lives, our reality, our hearts connect with the heart of God who longs to be before Him.
Well, another question, a short survey here, and I don't want anyone to raise their hands or answer, maybe some Amenes.
But brothers, perhaps to how many of you at the moment that you enter the house of Jehovah, perhaps even through the doors and you arrive at your seat and greet two or three brothers, boom! You are already in tune, you already have a direct channel, like today and at a given moment your spirit comes off and is already easily before the presence of the Lord, it is easy for you to reach the presence of the Lord, you feel the presence of the Lord. Lord at the moment you arrived, Amen. Glory to God when it is like this.
Now, and here brothers, nobody guaranteed you, nobody is going to fail here, nobody is going to fail in this survey, there are two correct answers.
Now how many of you struggle, frankly, struggle when you walk in and hear this music and see people singing? And really, if we were honest, you would say "I don't understand it", "I don't get it because people cry, what are they crying about? They sing these words and make noise and raise their hands and whatever and at the moment you see them crying or going to the altar or my God jumping, jumping; Where does that come from? What has entered them? What is up with them? But you don't leave and you are here and that is the detail you want to understand.
You long to understand, you see that it is something special and you wish with all your soul you were one of those crazy people or to hear something that will make you shed tears before the Lord, even if it costs you. "I don't understand, Samuel, but I want to understand and it is difficult for me to enter that environment."
Brothers I have news for you. I have answered “Yes” to each of those questions, to be honest with you. I confess to you brothers there have been days, today Glory to God was one of those days, I arrive and bless the Lord, the presence of the Lord becomes so palpable and one enters his presence, it is as if he were putting on slippers in his house and you are already in the presence of a God who was waiting for you, Glory to God and the warmth of God pours out on you.
But brothers, I have also had days, I have had experiences in which it has been difficult for me to enter praise and the presence of the Lord, I want it but it is as if it were a transparent acrylic wall that obstructs me from entering praise and may I also participate in the praise and may the Lord touch me.
'You, Samuel? You? A Minister, here. Has that happened to you?’ In fact, brothers, I give you a brief testimony. A few weeks ago - on a Wednesday - Pastor Omar came up to me and said, “Sami, will you be in the service here tonight and maybe we can participate together and minister?” And I told him "Yes". I said “Yes”, not to Pastor Omar, I said “Yes” to the Lord, and the Lord gave me the opportunity to be alone with Him for at least a few minutes before that Wednesday service and I confessed this to the Lord, I told him: "Sir, I'm empty, I'm burnt out" for no other reason than because it's Wednesday at two in the afternoon “hop day” in the middle of the week and I was struggling with the banality, the sterility of a long day.
Have you had days like this? E-mail, calls, things you have to write, projects you have to finish, meetings.
"But Samuel, you work here, your office is two floors from here. You will see angels from time to time, right?" “You stumble upon the Shaday. How are you going to have a sterile or banal day?
NEWS: brother, you can work here and Glory to God that we have the privilege of working directly with something that expands the interests of the Kingdom of God. But I tell you, brothers, the Ministers, those who work here day after day "work" discipleship brothers. How many of you shared discipleship? Amen, glory to God.
I have news for you: that miracle, that blessing of discipleship is the result of PowerPoint Presentations, Excel Spreadsheets, call lists, work. Just like the work you do. Brothers, I felt that way and I went before the presence of the Lord and I said to him "Lord fill me, fill my glass and I only heard the Lord say these words, it actually led me to this text: Hebrews Chapter, verse 15.
He only spoke those words to my spirit and he said "Samuel", I felt that the Lord told me "Samuel, give me the fruit of your lips, give me even if it is the fruit of your lips and I will take care of the rest" and directed me to this text.
So let us always offer to God through Him, a sacrifice of praise. Say 'sacrifice', that is, the fruit of lips, say 'fruit of lips' that confess your name and so the Lord told me. The Lord told me “Samuel comes and gives me fruit of the lips. Just arrive, and when you see the words declared: Worthy is the Lord, worthy is the Lord Hallelujah. Say them confess them, raise your hands use your diaphragm "I'll take care of the rest."
Brothers Glory to God. That's how it was, I started like many brothers. That's why I love Wednesday services because if there's a night where praise is sacrificed, it's a Wednesday night. Guaranteed: the Lord arrives and with power.
We have had some very powerful times on Wednesday nights, but it is that people arrive and know what they have arrived at and they have arrived after their long days, days like this and maybe you have days like this. Public school teacher, you who work in a non-profit company or maybe you have a position in a factory, or maybe you drive a truck or you work in construction, after that day… get here and you give the fruit of your lips to the Lord and for the moment you see that those statements pass from your lips and penetrate your mind, penetrate your heart, penetrate your being.
They are no longer even the words that one sees on the screen, they are words that come out of your life and your soul are natural declarations. It is your life, it is singing your own psalm to the Lord and the Lord receives your praise and I realized that all the people around me were doing the same, and the power of the Lord was poured out in a mighty way that Wednesday night.
A people offering the Lord a sacrifice of praise, a people offering the Lord 'fruit of the lips', and do you know why my brothers? And I think that because the Lord advised me this.
Brothers, the most significant victories that you request from the Lord, the opening that you seek from the Lord, will not come to you through heroic deeds.
What you ask from the Lord brothers, the Lord loves you enough that He does not ask you, He does not ask you to cross the sea and build a mission in a distant continent to have access to his presence. The Lord may call you to use you in this way, but in order to access His presence He has made that process as simple as possible.
And those victories that we seek will be through gestures, simple steps of faith, gestures of obedience. Just as tithing is one of those gestures, the Lord tells him "Do you trust me, do you believe my word? Tithe." Bring your tithe to the saddlebag and I will bless you. A simple gesture, a step of faith, a step of obedience, but by doing it you are believing in the Lord and his promises.
And when you obey the Lord, he blesses you the same way, offering the Lord the fruit of your lips, even if you don't feel anything, even if you don't understand it, even if it costs you at first, even though it is literally a sacrifice for you, He asks you for the fruit of your lips, you give him fruit of lips and the Lord answers you and blesses you.
Brothers why? It would be enough if the Lord commanded us to worship him in this way. But the Lord who knows us deigns to explain himself. There's a whole theology behind that, and that theology is encapsulated I believe in these verses that surround them beginning with verse 12.
Hebrews chapter 13 verse 12, declares the Lord: "Therefore also Jesus, to sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered outside the gate, let us therefore go out -verse 13- to him outside the camp bearing his reproach, because we do not have here permanent city if we don't look for the one to come so that we always offer to God -the verse with which we began- through the sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name”.
First brothers, the Lord, declares Jesus to sanctify the people through his own blood "suffered outside the gate, sanctifying the people", the same book of Hebrews. We are going to consider several verses here from the book of Hebrews, of a few, but the book of Hebrews declares in verse 12: "the declaration that we know by heart, that without Holiness, right? No one will see the Lord" and look at this is something urgent for God. Because if there is someone who knows what is important, what is vital which is that you as his creation have access to the presence of the Lord, it is your God.
If there is someone who knows that our life depends on Him, that our well-being depends on Him, just as we need oxygen, food, fresh water, we need the presence of our God. Every good gift every perfect gift falls like snow from its pores on this earth, it is what blesses us.
If we have experienced joy, peace, love, goodness, if we see that in this world it is because God provides it. He is the source, He is the source.
If you have known any kindness on this earth, the root is the throne of God, the Lord tells you "Come closer to the root, you need me" and we can see all the scripture as a long journey of closeness.
The garden itself as a poem in which the Lord creates beings capable of entering into dialogue with Him, capable of loving Him, of understanding Him, of opening their hearts to Him.
He looked for them in the cool of the day and daily he came down from his presence to know, love, bless, visit this being that he had created and when that failed, the Lord continued searching.
The day continued, we reached the exodus, in which the Lord chooses a people, separates a people and tells them "This people will look for me and I will be able to approach them and reveal my Glory to them."
The Lord was so moved to have a People with whom to dialogue, that He wasted no time in coming down from His throne and at the moment in which the Lord crossed the border from the supernatural to the natural, He lit a mountain, there was an earthquake, the The moment He spoke, the people were frightened and told Moses, "Please understand yourself with God." This is more than what we are capable of digesting.
The Lord says “Don't worry. The next time I come here I'll be like one of them. I will have meat, I will speak directly to them, I will dine with them and they with me and nothing, nothing, nothing will prevent them from having access to my presence and I to them”.
And that is why brothers at the moment it says that 'through the blood of Jesus we have access', at the moment in which Jesus expired on the cross of Calvary.
Mind you – interesting – the Lord didn't even wait until the time of the resurrection. At the moment that the Lord shed his last drop of blood, the word declares that the next thing that happens that the Lord does not waste time 'is to tear the veil of the temple', as if to say boom! 'Come in, I've been waiting for you for a long time' 'Come on in. I've missed you'.
He opened the sanctuary because now, brother, sprinkled with the blood of the lamb you have access to the throne of God. And that simply and simply is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Brother, whoever you are, go through what you have been through, thought what you have thought, done what you have done.
Brothers, the blood of Christ has the power to sanctify you at that moment, at that instant and you have free access to the throne of God. At the invitation of the High Priest who intercedes for you.
As the word declares in Hebrews chapter 4 "Let us approach now since we have a High Priest, who understands us, who sympathizes with us, who has been tempted in every way but without sin" Let us approach the throne of grace in confidence and there, brothers Receive the grace that you have sought, the mercy that you have sought, the opportune help that you have sought from the Lord.
The reason why you are here the answer is in the presence of the Lord. He waits for you.
'Well, Samuel, if that's the way it is, why is it so difficult? If the Lord opened the Sanctuary and if we have access and the veil has been torn, why is it still hard for me to enter the presence of the Lord? What's wrong?'
The Lord has done ninety-nine percent of the work, brother, but if there is something that touches us, the Lord instructs us, He says: "Let us go out to Him, outside the camp bearing His reproach." Let's stop there.
Let's go out to Him. We have to go out to Him now. Brethren, the veil of the temple has been torn but I like what A.W. wrote. Tosser once: "The veil of the temple has been torn but a veil has remained in our hearts." A veil has remained that the Lord has to tear through his spirit and I believe that this is represented in the camp.
The writer of Hebrews is very specific and says that 'Jesus suffered outside the city gates', did you notice? and it also says "Let's go outside the camp" now this has several meanings. Firstly the literal, our Lord, we know that he was crucified.
Calvary is located outside the walls of ancient Jerusalem.
Literally outside the gate of the city, but any Hebrew and that is addressed to the Hebrews, any Hebrew who reads this text automatically when he reads this 'camp image and let's go out of the camp', immediately they think of another camp and another was and they think at that moment in the Exodus.
In which the twelve tribes were in a camp marching through the desert led by Moses and Joshua and the Glory of the Shakiná of the Lord was on the outskirts of the camp.
But inside the camp -if we had a video of a camp today- apart from the fact that the manna dropped once a day -that's weird- or that a pipe came out of a rock and they drank from a rock that's also weird, but apart from that, brothers, seeing that camp is the same as seeing a camp in Canadian National Park: tents, fires lit, people preparing fried manna or strained manna or ground manna, this week what is the menu? manga of mana 'Manna, what's up tonight mommy? Manna. Is there nothing else? No.'
This is the third time that I preach this and it is the only one that I could resist until now, there is nothing more.
And there were meetings, there were conferences, there were troubles, there was a line with their pitchers to receive water from the rock. There was activity, there were people working.
In other words this for me, brothers, represents our busyness, this represents our busy lives this represents the banality of life, the snow that falls on your life day after day, dulling your ability to hear the voice of the Lord and digest the Lord and his voice and understand his presence. You're too busy, how are you going to enter the presence of the Lord with the bustle that you live and all the distractions that you live?
And if there was one who lived a busy life, it was Moses! Poor Moses. Moisés was so busy that his father-in-law had to tell him 'Moses, you have to look for people here, you have to, you can't carry all this, delegate authority, look for helpers around you.'
Because poor Moses, from the time he got up until he went to bed, was one problem after another, one conflict after another, when did he have the time to enter the presence of the Lord?
But from time to time Moses would hear a voice that said to him “Moses, Moses” and he knew it was the voice that came out of that pillar of fire. That if one lifted his face from his struggles and his work, one would see that presence in the distance, close, mind you.
The presence of the Lord is so close many times and we do not discern it by our bustle.
When he heard that voice he got up and left the camp, leaving his business and making an effort to enter the presence of the Lord.
Brothers, that is what the Lord asks of you to "leave the camp". Brothers, the Lord has fought for you to have access to his presence, Calvary is for that very reason, so that you have access to his presence. But, brother, you're going to have to fight, try to live your life as a Christian.
I am warning you, brother, if you want to take the Lord seriously and grow in his ways, you will have to make an intentional and intentional effort... to enter the presence of the Lord.
How many of you were in the disciple class today? Ok if you didn't learn about appointments with God, you are going to learn about that. And appointments with God are just that, brother, first thing in the morning before your first decision, before your first conversation, "LEAVE CAMP!"
Take your first coffee with the Lord, record what is to happen with your day, fill yourself with Him, leave the camp. He is waiting for you, and brothers during the day, hasn't it happened to you at times, hasn't you heard the voice of the Lord at times just as Moses heard it? Hasn't that happened to you? You may be at your computer at work, or perhaps you are driving your truck, or perhaps you are in the middle of a meeting, a conference, you may even be teaching your class - but at the moment it may not be an audible voice. - It may be that you even confuse it with emotion and one of the things that I ask of the Lord at this moment is that the Lord increase your capacity, increase the volume of your hearts so that you can discern the voice of the Lord.
When He calls you during the day, and you can confuse it with nostalgia, you can confuse it with a feeling of crying mixed with joy or something like that; but it is the Lord calling you.
Brothers, the Pastor shared last week, we can pray and pray continuously and that is what this word declares.
Let us offer at every moment we always continue to present to the Lord "fruit of the lips".
Brother, if you can't get away at that moment, even if you can't do it audibly, respond to the Lord with something in some way. Aknowledge him!, Answer him!
You can if you are driving your truck, say "Lord I feel your voice, I feel your presence and I take this moment to thank you, who you are, thank you for accompanying me, for reminding me that I am not alone Lord." "Father, this classroom, these children, these faces, what a privilege Father! Anoint me, anoint me! Use me, teacher." It may be under construction: "Lord, each nail, each piece of zinc or wood that I put in its place, I remember of You, You are the carpenter par excellence. I follow in your footsteps, take this as adoration, as praise to your master name."
Acknowledge him! Get out of camp! You know why? Because you are, we are eternal beings, believe it or not. Your life is more than what you see: your computer, your blackberry, your house, your car, your job, your bank account.
You represent much more than that to God.
It says here: 'Because we do not have a permanent city here, but we are looking for the one to come'.
And hasn't it happened to you sometimes my brothers - and maybe you don't even consider yourself a Christian, but you are here, because something you say, that something is wrong in the world around you?
There's like a blemish that you can't detect and it's got to be better than this! There has to be a God, because there's no way it could be any other way and you know what? That city exists, that place is real.
There is a supernatural, spiritual, invisible dimension, but it is real. It is real and the word relates it in verse two, in chapter twelve, verse 22; in the previous chapter.
In verse 18 the writer of Hebrews writes that: "If there was glory when the Lord descended on Mount Oreb and lit it under his anointing."
But that doesn't compare to the glory we experience on a typical Sunday at "Lion of Judah." Because a typical Sunday in León de Judá, this is the reality.
When you enter through those courts in the name of Jesus or any place that preaches the Gospel under the anointing of the Lord, the atmosphere is this, but you have approached Mount Zion, the city of the living God. Jerusalem the heavenly, to the company of many thousands of angels.
Brothers, at least I believe that the Lord is writing here literally, that the angels make an appearance. But He, if He stayed with angels, we reach the congregation of the firstborn, which are written in heaven.
Brothers, VĂctor Cardona has never given up his membership here; he is here. Anastasia continues to worship the Lord. They are inscribed here and it goes further, here it says "We have come to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of the just made perfect, to Jesus. To Jesus the mediator of the new covenant and to the sprinkled blood that speaks better than Abel's ”.
Brothers, you will not see it, perhaps you will not feel it, we do not have the ability to feel it, but here are angels at this moment and chariots of fire surrounding this place, sent by the Lord to minister to us.
Sent for that purpose.
Brothers, this is miraculous!
Those Angels that the Lord sends are ministered, they are ministered BY YOU and by the praise that comes from your lips and they long for the Lord today, I hope a worshiper arrives at the house of Jehovah! and that is you.
Brothers, and there is war too -I don't want to focus too much on that- but the other side of the coin is what I don't want to see here.
What many times persecutes us when we enter the house of the Lord and at the moment that those beings those spirits see Jesus who is here in the form of the Holy Spirit because He has declared that 'he would not leave us or forsake us', they see your authority, they see the blood of the lamb on you, and they run!
That happens in the house of God, that is what adoration and praise and above all brother, that is your home. This is our home. The Lord has called us to dwell in that dimension, that is where, you belong there, you were created to enter there.
'So Samuel tell me how, how do you do that, how do you enter that dimension that seems so foreign, so strange and so other?' And we have done a whole cycle, we have finished where we started, we entered that dimension through the fruit of lips. We enter that dimension through the sacrifice of praise.
'Well Samuel, that's not my tradition, I'm not used to that and frankly I don't feel anything when I do that.' Brother, you know what? That's why they call it a sacrifice of praise. You will feel strange the first time you get up in the morning to be alone with the Lord.
Do it! Do it for 30 days, tell me if his life is the same. You will feel strange, brothers for that, these people are facilitators, this is not a show, this is not a stage. And they flow, it's automatic. You hear when they say - brothers worship the Lord, raise your hands. Brothers, as Gonzalo said this morning, cast your letters before the Lord.
Brothers, the adoration and praise of what you are doing, these simple gestures- "fruit of the lips" and perhaps brothers, and I tell you, I can confess to you brother, perhaps you don't feel anything. Maybe the first time you raise your hands to the Lord, you don't cry, you don't shudder, you don't speak in tongues, nothing like that.
But one way or another, you have come into the presence of the Lord and the Lord will deal with you, and it may be that the four hours you have invested in the house of the Lord will save you twelve hours thinking about a problem.
And the Lord illuminates you at one point, a source of wisdom comes from an answer that came out, you don't even know how that happened, but it was here as a result of you giving to the Lord, offering him that gesture as simple as that of children,' a fruit of lips' and the Lord answers you.
Brothers, I don't even have the time and it even gives me, -I don't know how I would tell you- all the times I have seen the Lord answer prayers.
Ten years at the academic resource center.
Brothers, I can testify to you that the main resource of Academic Resources is a God who listens to prayers. The only one that I can explain to myself, is the only real resource that I have is 'fruit of the lips'.
'Fruit of lips'.
Provision, wisdom, peace, goodness, grace, mercy, everything is surrounded. It is the table that He offers in front of his presence, it is the table that is opened to you. If you would only come closer, if you would only make the gesture and come closer to the table! He waits for you, He invites you, He longs to have you close, if you offer him a sacrifice. Let's stand up.
Brothers, we are going to do an exercise on this.
Brethren, what do you need from the presence of the Lord? Why are you here? You heard the message, you participated in praise, but I ask, brothers, in the name of Jesus that no one leave here a spectator. But here this afternoon - this was my prayer this morning and continues to be my prayer at this moment - people who They have experienced what it is like to enter the presence of the Lord.
May the Lord today, may you penetrate the veil today. Let's do that, raise your hands to the Lord, a gesture, I don't know if this is new to you. Brothers, forget about me because this is not about me, and forget about these people, these musicians, this talent. It's not about them. We are facilitators.
Our work ends the moment the Spirit of a living God touches your spirit. The moment He ministers to you with unspeakable groans. At the moment that you lose the idea of who is around you and you are in the presence of a living God.
Father we adore you, we offer you adoration.
Brothers, I am going to make it easier for you, but you give him your own psalm and there give Glory to the Lord. Father, You are good, Your mercy is bottomless. Your mercy has no limits, Your grace is enormous. You are my provider. You are Father -although I still await the miracle- I declare, I confess with my lips that You are my provider.
Although I have not yet seen the miracle, I confess with my lips that You are my healer. Although I have not yet seen the miracle, I confess with my lips that You are my protector. Although I am still waiting for Your intervention, I declare my freedom. You are my deliverer! You are He who receives me.
You are Lord He who is seated on the throne and to You I direct my praise and adoration.
Offer it up, bless your God. Bless your God. Bless your God. Bless your God, Amen.
Now offer him 'lip fruit'. Declare this statement before the Lord, even if you don't feel it, even if you don't understand it, say these words to the Lord. Amen.
