What does the Holy Spirit do (part 1)?

Summary: In Philippians 1:9, the Apostle Paul asks for the believers' love to abound in knowledge and discernment to approve what is excellent. In John 14:15, Jesus says that those who love Him will keep His commandments, and He will ask the Father to send another helper, the Holy Spirit, to be with them forever. The Holy Spirit is the key to living a life that pleases the Lord and bearing fruits of justice. It is important to activate the power of the Holy Spirit and have a personal encounter with Him. A church filled with the Holy Spirit is like a war tank that conquers and transforms lives.

The Holy Spirit is a crucial component of a victorious Christian life. It instructs believers, teaches them about Jesus Christ, and reminds them of the Gospel. Without the Holy Spirit, believers may feel stagnant or anemic in their faith. Jesus Christ promised to send the Holy Spirit to his disciples, and the Holy Spirit is available to all believers today. To prosper in the things of God, it is important to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives and continuously call on him to work in us. The ministry and anointing of the Holy Spirit enable believers to do the works of God on earth.

In the Gospel according to Saint Luke, John the Baptist announces the coming of the Messiah and links his ministry to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is then baptized and the Holy Spirit descends upon him, filling him with power and sealing him as the Messiah. Before beginning his public ministry, Jesus is led by the Spirit into the desert to confront the devil and show his superiority. The Holy Spirit guides and directs Christians in their lives and ministries, leading them to specific blessings and opportunities. Those who are filled with the Holy Spirit waste less time and energy, make fewer mistakes, and are more economical in their movements. It is important for Christians to constantly seek the anointing of the Holy Spirit in their lives to have power and effectiveness in their ministries.

The speaker talks about the importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian. He uses examples from the Bible, such as Jesus being filled with the Holy Spirit before beginning his ministry, and encourages the audience to seek the anointing of the Holy Spirit in their own lives. He invites people to come forward and pray for the Holy Spirit to fill them with his presence and power. The speaker emphasizes the need for a continual seeking of the Holy Spirit and encourages people to make room in their lives to cultivate a relationship with him.

Imagine the spirit of God entering your life right now. I activate the power of God in your life, in the name of Jesus Christ. Invite the Holy Spirit into your life and expect new experiences. Continuously seek the Lord's presence and renewal. Thank you, Father, for pouring out your anointing on us.

In Philippians chapter 1, verse 9 the word of the Lord says: "...the Apostle Paul calls the believers of the church of Philippi and says: "...And I pray that your love may abound even more and more in science and in all knowledge …”. Look at that, the Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, asks that the love of the brothers in the church of Philippi, the city of Philippi, may abound and grow more and more in science and in all knowledge.

And it is important that we understand that the love that characterizes Christians, the noble values that characterize believers have to be nuanced and strengthened, strengthened with knowledge.

The word science talks about that, knowledge, understanding, theological wisdom of the word of God and what here is translated in Spanish "to all knowledge", in the original Greek it refers to discernment. The ability to go to the bottom of things and discern the true nature of things in the spirit, that is the word used in the original Greek.

And the Apostle Paul says that… why that? For what knowledge? For what science? It says, "....so that you may approve the best....", so that you may approve the best and the word approve in the original Greek also refers to examining something and determining its quality, whether it is good or not. He was referring, for example, to when a doctor in ancient times was examined to see if he really knew what he had to know or he was also referring to testing metals to make sure they were genuine.

So, for you to pass, why? because we have to examine things. We live in times where there is a lot of false doctrine, on television, in the books that are written, unfortunately also in the churches. There are many people who are confused about the word of God. In addition, there are many false teachers in the world today, characteristics of the last times. How many knows that the Lord predicted that it would be so? and it says that in the last days teachers would pile up, that they would give the people what they wanted to hear and the people would not have patience with sound doctrine. And so it is important that we, the children of God, have knowledge of the word so that we can approve what is excellent.

In your life you are going to have the opportunity to make many big decisions and it is better that you have knowledge of the word of God to be able to make clear decisions. I encourage you to participate in that discipleship, I encourage you to take Bible classes, because all of that is part of a solid foundation for the Christian life. How many say amen? They are awake? They're here? Glory to God, amen, that gives me encouragement to keep going.

John, chapter 14, don't think I forgot, I'm still there... I want to talk to you about the doctrine I told you about the Holy Spirit. Now, why am I going to talk about the doctrine of the Holy Spirit today? Because I want to suggest something to you, and that is that in these last Sundays I have been talking about works, salvation by faith and by grace, how The works of the Christian are related to his salvation by grace, the balance that there must be between behavior on the one hand in life and on the other hand the grace of God, that we are not saved by what we do but by the grace of God He assigns salvation to us through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, but God expects us to also live the life that is pleasing to the Lord.

So I want to show that the only way that we can live that pleasant life that God expects, the only way that we can bear fruits of justice as the Bible says and that we can please the Lord with our works is by through the Holy Spirit in our life.

If we do not have the Holy Spirit, brothers, we are fried, we are not going anywhere, we are not going to be able to please the Lord. We are not going to be able to live a life that is approved by the Lord. We need the anointing and operation of the Holy Spirit in our lives. How many say love to that? glory to the Lord.

Then look at what the Lord Jesus Christ says, chapter 14 of John, verse 15 specifically, the Lord says: “…If you love me, keep what? my commandments”, look at what he is saying there, right? There are people who say: "well, I love the Lord and he loves me" but they live like little devils, because they believe that that's all, well the Lord loves me, he forgave me, he saved me, he set me free, amen, Well, now I can live as I want. That is a devilish mistake.

The Lord says, "He who loves me will keep my commandments." Now, how are we to keep the commandments of the Lord? How are we going to live in a way that is pleasing to the Lord? because it is difficult, it is hard to live as God wants us to live, right? It is not easy, it is a continuous fight against the flesh, against the instincts, against the world, against the devil, against the systems of this world that militate against a life that pleases the Lord.

And we are continually in that struggle that the Apostle Paul describes, right?, that we want to do something and we find that there is another law within us that reveals itself against the law of the spirit. We want to please the Lord and at the moment something comes out and we say: where did that come from? Why is there a power struggle within us?

So how are we going to win that fight? Look at what it says here: "...and I will ask the Father and he will give you another comforter to be with you forever...", in other words, the way that you and I are going to win the battle of the mind, the battle of the body, the battle of emotions, the battle against the powers of the Devil that want to make us stumble is through the work of the Holy Spirit in us, it is the only way.

That's why the Lord says: "I'm going to pray to the Father," you know? Christ is our intercessor, he is seated at the right hand of the Father praying for us so that we may win the victory, "...I will ask the Father and he will give you another comforter...." the word comforter here in Spanish, in Greek original is paracletos. Paracletos was a figure of the Greco-Roman world, he was a person who was in charge, among other things, of encouraging the runners in the athletic races of those times. The consoler, the paracletos, was that individual who encouraged, who told the runners to keep going or who also told the competitors in rowing races not to get tired, keep going until the end, persist in reaching the finish line. It is also thought that the paraclete was possibly a lawyer who stood next to the accused, the person who was defending his cause and defended him and provided arguments to win his legal case.

The idea of the dildo is that, one that encourages, one that comforts, one that helps to reach the goal, one that defends and advises and that is what is inadequately translated in my opinion with the word consoler, the paracletos, the one who stands beside us to help us in the race of faith.

And that is why the Lord Jesus Christ says: “…I am going to beg the Father to send you a helper…”. I like the word helper better to refer to the Holy Spirit, he is the one who helps us in the race of faith, how are you going to reach the goal in your life? It is through the strength and advice that the Holy Spirit gives you. say amen

He says: I'm going to give you a dildo to be with you, only on weekends on Sunday when you're at church? no, "..... forever...", that is, until Christ comes, hallelujah! May he be with you at all times of the Christian life, brother. The Holy Spirit is never going to get tired, the Holy Spirit is never going to say: "Well, I already did what I have to do, I'm going to heaven until the Son comes." No, the Holy Spirit is going to be with the church until Christ comes and will be with you until you reach the finish line.

The Lord Jesus said: "I am with you every day until the end of the world", the Lord has assigned you a comforter. Every believer has the presence of the Holy Spirit, once Jesus Christ enters, the Holy Spirit enters one's life. Say with me: "I am a believer and therefore I have the Holy Spirit."

Now many times what happens is that we have the Holy Spirit but we are not activating it properly, we are not making use of the resources that he has placed in us properly, for example we can say look: An old lady who buys a BMW with 800 horsepower and only uses it to go to church on Sundays at 20 miles per hour, what a waste of gosh, huh. Now if he is going to run, let him run in a place where he obviously does not break the laws, but that car is full of power and is saying: Wow! Push that accelerator even a little so that I can show what I have, right?

And so it happens, we have the Holy Spirit in us, unfortunately there are many believers who only use it at 10 miles per hour and the Holy Spirit is there roaring, wanting you to hit the gas pedal to run at hundreds of miles per hour.

And this is what happens many times, there are believers who have not activated all that reserve of power that the spirit has and therefore you see them tired, dejected, burdened, doubtful, defeated, confused, always thinking that the world has it against them, that nobody loves them, that God forgot them. Because? because they are not using the power of the Holy Spirit that is within them, they have not activated it, they have not removed it from those waters, that is what I believe the Bible refers to with this baptism, of the Holy Spirit.

That second experience of which the word speaks that suggests to us that it is not enough to simply have the Holy Spirit there in potential, but it requires that they come and turn on the switch, and that the light comes on and then do what you have to do, which many times, you know? we have light but we never turn on the switch so that the light gives the power it has.

And it's important, and one of the things that I want to discuss with you is that, the importance of using the power of the Holy Spirit, because many of you are new believers, or maybe you come from a church where you don't there was much talk about the Holy Spirit, I want to tell you brothers, that there is an important experience in the Bible and the great men and women of God throughout the centuries have testified that it is important to go to a second dimension of power, so that we can then live the Christian life as God wants us to live it, to be able to bear those fruits of justice, to be able to behave as God wants us to behave, to be able to grow, to be able to enter more fully into the experience of sanctification and service to the Lord properly.

Look at the experience that a group of men had that is recorded in the book of Acts in chapter 19, the Apostle Paul arrives in the city of Ephesus and there he meets a group of men. Look at what it says here, Acts 19 says that: "...the Apostle Paul came to Ephesus and finding certain disciples he said to them: "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" Look at that, he asks you, did you receive the Holy Spirit when you did they believe? There is a lot of fabric to cut through because, look, there are many people, there are many churches where this doctrine of the Holy Spirit is not preached.

People... they believe, if you ask them: Do you believe in the Holy Spirit? Holy? Yes, we believe in it, etc. But…

There are a lot of ignorant people today, in the church in the United States, thousands and thousands of churches where everything is just a lot of teaching, a lot of programming, a lot of activities, but people are not aware of it. has taught that they need a personal encounter with the Holy Spirit.

And that is why many times these people are devoid of power, they are devoid of anointing. They do not have the capacity to confront the world. Why is there so much culture today that has become more and more separated? Why is the church losing so much ground in the world? I believe that because the church lacks the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Now, true anointing because I believe that there are many people who call themselves Pentecostals and I tell you with all due respect, I believe that they have lost sight of what a true experience with the Holy Spirit is, because this It is not just name and word, it is fact, it is an intimacy, it is an illumination from God, truly about the presence and what the true action of the Holy Spirit is.

Now I tell you, a church where there is the true filling of the Holy Spirit, that is like a war tank, overwhelms everything that gets in its path and conquers and blesses and is used to transform Lives and lives come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the joy of the Lord is evident in that type of congregation.

Now the Apostle Paul asks you, did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? , everything that is needed, the suitcase is full, because he asks him, did you receive when you believed? They had not been taught, look how they respond to the Apostle Paul:

“.... and they told him: 'we have not even heard if there is a Holy Spirit......”

Wow, these are the very beginnings of Christianity remember this. Christianity is just beginning to move. And there was a lot of doctrinal teaching that the church had not yet developed all its doctrine, so there were people who had received the doctrine of Jesus Christ as the savior, the Messiah, but they had not been taught about the role of the third person of the Trinity that it is the Holy Spirit. So these men had good intentions, good faith, they wanted to serve God, but they were dead and dry because they had not been taught about the Holy Spirit.

Then Paul said to them, “Into what then were you baptized? And they said: well, in John's baptism, they had been baptized in water. But remember that Juan told them, I baptize you with water but someone comes who will baptize with what? With fire and with the Holy Spirit, who was that? Jesus Christ.

Paul…John the Baptist had only water baptism, the fire of the Holy Spirit had not yet come down, Pentecost had not yet come and the Messiah had not yet come into full action when John the Baptist was preaching . Then he tells them: "well, we were baptized in water, we believed in Jesus Christ but we were baptized only with the baptism of John" then Paul said: "John baptized with the baptism of repentance telling the people to believe in the one who would come after him" . This is the Jesus, the Christ.

“....So, when they heard this, they were baptized in what? in the name of the Lord Jesus, and when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied...”

Do you see how important it is that the church of Jesus Christ be instructed and Alerted about the ministry and work of the Holy Spirit? Are you sure? I want to ask you, do you understand well the role of the Holy Spirit for a victorious life in the spirit

There are many people who have not been able to enter that vigorous Christian life, they have not been able to enter in that prime of life, and you see them as moving in slow motion and not growing as they should, not thriving as they should. They go to church but something is missing, a nutrient is missing in their experience, there is something that has not dawned on them yet and I suspect that in many cases it is that lack of an intimate, personal relationship with the power of the Holy Spirit. That they are missing a component, and that is why they are a little anemic, that is why they do not take off properly.

I want to encourage you in the name of the Lord. My desire this afternoon is that, to let you know that the doctrine of the Holy Spirit is important, that this third person of the Trinity needs and requires as much attention as the other two: the Father and the Son.

And in much of the church the Holy Spirit is only something that we recognize, which is real, it is true but we do not internalize it for daily living.

I want to encourage you in the name of Jesus brothers, if you want a victorious life, a vital life, a life that receives the nutrients and retains you from the Holy Spirit. If you see that your life is not going to the next level, you have remained stuck, you have remained small, you do not feel that joy, that enthusiasm, that passion, that expectation of God's move in your life, the word does not help you. speak properly, there is depression in your life, there is sadness, there is choking, possibly you need the Holy Spirit to activate within you. Or you need a new dose of the Holy Spirit, you need to go to a secluded place and stay there and say: "Father, I am not going to leave here until I feel that I feel that your presence is with me."

You have to seek God, you have to be filled with the Holy Spirit, it is what breaks the yoke, do you know what it says over there?, the anointing rots the yoke, the anointing of God destroys principalities and the powers in us.

There are many times that people are stagnant, they are petrified, they are hardened, the anointing does not flow and then we have to go into warfare and seek a new and fresh encounter with the spirit of God and like Jacob say: "... I'm not going to let you go until you bless me...". Glory to the Lord.

You know the story of Jacob when he wrestled with the angel all night and told him I'm not going to... he put a wrench in him and put him in, wrapped his legs around him and there the angel let me go, let me go I have to go, I'm not going to leave you until you bless me, Hallelujah. The angel finally had to bless him, left him limping for the rest of his life, but he did bless him.

Because sometimes, you know, when you ask for God's anointing, be careful because there are things that have to go too and you're going to have to leave certain things behind. When the Holy Spirit enters your life you don't know what he's going to do, because he flows where he wants, but you know, what he does is going to be good, hallelujah! And it's going to leave a sediment of blessing there.

If you want to have a truly powerful life, pleasing to the Lord, you need the anointing and ministry of the Holy Spirit moving within you. That is why the Lord Jesus Christ, going back to the text of John 14, tells him: "I am going to ask for a comforter so that I may be with you always" and what is that comforter?, verse 17, "...the spirit of truth to which the The world cannot receive, because it does not see him or know him, but you know him, because he dwells with you and will be in you." I like that idea of Jesus, that the Holy Spirit is that spirit of truth.

Notice that the spirit of truth puts you in that perspective, why? because the Holy Spirit... look, many times we associate the Holy Spirit only with fire, with a whirlwind, with an earthquake, with great actions, stormy rain, but many times in reality, the essence of the Holy Spirit is the truth, he is the instructor of church.

The word says that he will teach us all things about Jesus Christ. On many occasions the ministry of the Holy Spirit is identified with the truth. Do you remember the story of Elijah when God made him walk through the desert for forty days and forty nights? and Elijah has a vision and sees an earthquake that breaks everything around him, breaks and Elijah says: wow this definitely has to be God, but God was not in the earthquake. And then, a fire that devastates everything, and consumes everything, and Elijah says: well, God is fire so the spirit of God definitely has to be here, and what happened? he wasn't there either. And then a very strong wind came that tore apart the trees and moved everything and Elias said: well, God definitely has to be here, and you know? God was not there either. And then there was a quiet whistling, a soft, still breeze that just moved the leaves a little bit, and there was the spirit of God.

Because many times brothers, we are used to this idea that the Holy Spirit is like a storm that destroys everything and we fall in love with it, but many times the Holy Spirit is simply the spirit of truth, who comes to instruct the believer, teaches us what God wants for his life, which teaches him how he should live and what things he has to let go of in order to enter into a greater anointing of God, in a greater relationship with God, than it speaks to you about the true nature of the Christian life and the spirit of Jesus Christ, it is a spirit of truth.

God sends the Holy Spirit to instruct us and to teach us how to live. The world does not understand that spirit of truth.

Let's go to verse 25 and 26 from there of John 14, the Lord Jesus Christ says there: “…I told you these things while I was with you, plus the comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and will remind you of everything that I have told you…”.

When you have the move of the Holy Spirit in your life, what you hear in church, what you read in your personal meditations, the word that you eat when you are in your meditations, the experiences that you have, all this the Holy Spirit takes it and when you least expect it, he reminds you.

If you cannot remember the truths of the Gospel, ask the Holy Spirit to activate in you to remind you of the teachings of the Holy Spirit, to give you intelligence, to give you wisdom about all the things that God wants you to do. remember “…He will remind you of all that I have told you…” that is precious.

Look further on in chapter 16, verse 4 onwards, it says in verse 7… let's go a little further: “…I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away, because if you don't away, the comforter would not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you."

The disciples were sad because the Lord Jesus Christ was leaving them, but he said: You know what? Look, it's better that I go, and in a sense, you know what? now we are better than the same disciples at that time, do you know why? Because Jesus Christ only in his human manifestation could be in one place at a time and he could only instruct one group of people at a time. But when he went up and God sent the Holy Spirit, what happens? That now the Holy Spirit can be in every believer. He is here, on North Hampton street and he is in China and Mongolia right now also instructing Christians there, he is in Latin America, he is in Asia, he is in Africa, he is in Europe, he is in Australia, everywhere instructing, because now God He sent it to every believer.

Before, when Jesus was limited by time and space, he could not instruct everyone, so it is convenient for us; and when he comes says verse 8, he will convince the world of sin, justice and judgment.

You know that if you have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ because the Holy Spirit convinced you that you needed to believe in the Lord. No one can believe in Jesus Christ unless the Father brings him. The Holy Ghost don't bring it to him.

Then there are many things, look at verse 13 of John 16: “…but when the spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak on his own, but will speak all what he hears will let you know the things that are to come, he will glorify me because he will take what is mine and make it known to you…”

I hope you are recording this idea of the Holy Spirit as an instructing spirit that teaches the believer, that instructs the believer, that always guides us towards all the truth. And that is why it is important that we understand, if we want to prosper in the things of God we need the ministry and the anointing of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

I want to encourage you my brothers, in the name of Jesus Christ, to fall in love with the Holy Spirit, so that no one leaves here this afternoon without clearly understanding the Holy Spirit. We must invite him into our lives, in our prayers we always have to include a prayer for the spirit to move within us, we must call him, invite him continuously so that he works in our lives.

If you are going through a time of struggle, if there are temptations that you cannot overcome, if there are depressions, if there are ties in your life, look into a diet of Holy Spirit, and focus on the spirit of God and ask the Holy Spirit to break the chains and enter you into a new dimension of power.

Anointed and mature Christians have to live in a very, very powerful relationship with the Holy Spirit because that is what enables you to do the works of God here on earth.

Jesus Christ, his ministry and his person, were completely linked to the work of the Holy Spirit, which allowed Christ to please the Father and do the work of the Father here on earth when in his human form he was his intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit and I want to prove it to you if you give me a chance.

Let's go for example, look I'm going to do a quick tour in the book of Luke, Gospel according to Saint Luke, let's go for example to chapter 3 of the Gospel according to Saint Luke, chapter 3, in verse 16 we see John the Baptist announcing the coming of the Messiah and John says:

“.....John answered saying to everyone, I truly baptize you in water....”, remember the disciples in Ephesus that they were told, we were baptized in the baptism of John, which was with water, and John says here: “.....I baptize you in water but one comes, referring to Jesus Christ, more powerful than I, of whom I am not worthy to untie the strap of his shoes and that he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire....”

Notice that the ministry of Jesus from the beginning is linked to that powerful move of God's spirit. Only Christ can baptize a Christian and turn him from a lukewarm and sleepy Christian to a Christian full of fire, full of enthusiasm and full of passion for the work of the Lord.

So look at that, even before he appears on the public stage, John was already saying, his mission and his ministry is intrinsically linked to the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Now later, the Lord Jesus Christ arrives on the stage in verse 21 and now the Lord, in obedience, goes to John to be baptized. And look at what happens here, it says that:

“.....it happened that when all the people were baptized Jesus was also baptized, crying the sky opened and what happened? The Holy Spirit descended upon him in a bodily form, like a dove, and a voice came from heaven saying: "You are my beloved son, in you I am pleased...". Glory to the Lord, how beautiful.

Look, this moment of ministerial consecration for Jesus and what happens in his human form he also needs that full visitation, that consecration, that anointing of the Holy Spirit. Because if you look, throughout the Old Testament the prophets, kings and priests always had to be anointed before beginning their ministry and they were anointed with oil as a sign of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon them, God's approval, the anointing of God, the training of God, the administration of the gifts that they needed to carry out their delicate task of being a king, being a priest, or being a prophet.

So, before entering into his public ministry, the Lord also submits to that powerful ritual of the spirit and the dove that has assumed the form of the Holy Spirit ascends, or rather descends upon him and full and the Father registers his pleasure in the Son. What's happening? The Son is sealed, the son is publicly affirmed as the Messiah. The word Christ is this... comes from the Greek Crisen which means to baptize, in fact in English "to christen" is to baptize a person, so Christ is the anointed of God who in Hebrew is Messiah, it is the same thing, "meshia ” means anointed. So the Lord, the ministry of Jesus is linked to that idea of anointing, the anointing of God that is on him. God's anointed.

And brother, do not expect that you can develop your ministry, do not expect that you will be able to have a powerful life if you do not have that experience, that seal, that approval, that intimacy with the Holy Spirit. You are going to be like one of the disciples of Ephesus, well-intentioned, you are going to go to heaven probably, but you are going to be limping all your life on earth because you have not had access to that pipe where the power of God is called the Holy Spirit. Don't let that happen in your life. Ask the Lord each day: Lord fill me with your spirit, baptize me with your spirit, animate your fire within me.

There is an image, before continuing that I am going to do here in parentheses to illustrate what it is to have the Holy Spirit but many times not have it actively.

Do you remember the pool, I think it's the Siloam pool, if I'm not mistaken, or is it…Betesta? Sorry, the Betesta shelf. The Bible says that there was a pond and it doesn't seem like it was a legend, but that it was reality, because the Bible does not distinguish between whether it was a legend or not, but rather says it as something real, that in that pond once every certain number of years or whatever, an angel would stir the water, move it, and when people saw the water move they would throw themselves into it and be healed. The first one to fall into the water was healed and that is why around that pool there were many sick and paralyzed and all that, because look, the water was there but it needed to be removed for the anointing to become active.

And that is what happens many times, every Christian has the Holy Spirit but in many Christians the Holy Spirit is like a placid lake, a lake that is crystal clear and is like a mirror, there is water, it is everything that a lake requires, but there is no movement because it is totally calm. Now, when a wind blows over it, the lake moves and jumps. What did Christ say?: "He who believes in me, rivers of living water will flow from his interior", they are not placid lakes, they are rivers of living water that Christ wants to flow within you. It is the move of God, it is the activity of God within you.

And many Christians are like calm and peaceful lakes with the Holy Spirit but God wants us to beat him, to move him, to activate him so that he can move within us and then the effectiveness that God can come he wants there to be in our lives.

Then the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus, now look at chapter 4 “…Jesus filled with the Holy Spirit came back from the Jordan, the Holy Spirit falls on him, fills him and now he can begin his earthly ministry”. He has God's anointing on him.

Do you remember what the Lord Jesus Christ said to the disciples in Jerusalem before he ascended? remember? He told them, look at what he says: "...you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth...". You will receive power when? When the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and then you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Samaria, and in all the earth.

The anointing of the spirit is needed, the Lord subjected to that progression, first the filling of the spirit, the baptism of the spirit and then the ministry, serving the Lord.

When you want to serve the Lord, you are going to be expending a lot of energy. People are going to be absorbing your energy, you are going to go to war against the devil, your flesh is going to manifest itself with more power than ever, there are going to be setbacks in your life. The enemy is going to make war against you because God is using you and he only knows how to kill, steal and destroy, he is going to want to destroy the life inside of you before it manifests itself and you better have a great reserve of power in your life.

That it is the anointing of the Holy Spirit and that that anointing is always flowing, we have to go back again and again and again and fill ourselves again with the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

If the son of God had to do it, how much more do we? Otherwise we will be weak and sad. Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returns from the Jordan and look at something else here, it says then ".......he was led by the spirit into the desert.....", who takes him into the desert? the spirit.

Now why did he have to go to the desert? Because before he continued his ministry there was something else that had to happen in his life, he had to confront the devil himself and he had to show himself who truly had the power, there had to be a meeting of powers there. Two gunmen met there in the desert, Satan and Jesus Christ, and you know which one ran away. Satan was completely defeated and it was necessary for there to be that confrontation so that it became clear who had the superiority and that then the Lord could undertake his ministry with the seal of superiority over the demons as well. Christ defeated the devil, he defeated disease, he defeated death, he defeated temptation, he defeated his flesh, everything the devil threw at him, he homered off the field. And he had to defeat the devil, that was important for him to have on his resume before continuing with his public ministry.

And who directs you to that key experience? the Holy Spirit. How important it is that in your life you have the direction, the illumination, the specific advice of the Holy Spirit daily. We would avoid a lot of trouble, a lot of problems if we could depend on the specific wisdom of the spirit for our lives. How many times have we found ourselves in a situation and we don't know what to do? It will be better for us to go to the Holy Spirit and say: "Lord, spirit of God, I need a message, I need a word, I need a way and only you have it, enlighten me." The Lord Jesus Christ has not said that he will guide you into all truth, he will teach us all things. That is the main function, he directs us at specific moments.

The Christian who has the Holy Spirit stumbles many times with God's purpose in his life. I can tell you brothers, and I have said it on many occasions in different contexts, the most beautiful things of my ministry, which have brought more blessings to my life and to my church, I cannot take credit for them, God has placed them in front of me. I can't say anything good... how did this building come about? a dream that God gave me of the Lion of Judah looking over a city infested with demons and from there the name of our church is born and this place is born and as you know it has a lion outside on the street that was there before we bought this place.

The call to come to Boston, that is from the Holy Spirit, the call to serve the Lord, so many other things, I... it's not like it occurred to me theologically, ah it would be good to do this … No!!! The Holy Spirit has brought it to my mind and all I have done is react to it. Many of the great blessings in my life and in the life of this church have come because the Holy Spirit has specifically led us to those things, not because one has searched for them, thought of them or invented them, the Holy Spirit has done it. .

And when a life, when a ministry is enlightened by the Holy Spirit, one wastes less time, you know? He wastes less energy, makes fewer mistakes, runs into fewer blind alleys, is more economical in his movements because the Holy Spirit is guiding you from one thing to another, he tells you: look, go this way and then something else comes. One day you have a meeting, a conversation with someone, look at an example:

How did we get to this building? I was looking fifteen years ago or something like that, in another place that we were interested in over there in Jamaica Plain, that place was closed and the same day they told me that that place was no longer for sale, that it had been withdrawn from the market All depressed, I decide to go eat at El Oriental to see if a meal cheers me up a bit, in a restaurant that is Cuban here in Jamaica Plain and I go there to this restaurant, right? at noon and when I enter the restaurant, RaĂşl Tejera, pastor, and Eduardo Meiner, pastor, are also sitting there, eating some chops and rice with some I don't remember what it was.

They were sitting there when I enter the restaurant, I see them, greet them and approach them, and they tell me: but sit with us and what came to the meal I hear them talking to them about that they came from visiting a building that was for sale here in the city of Boston and they said: "hey, that would be a tremendous church", and a pastor named David Marrero told me that we have talked about the pastor... how many know David Marrero? ? David Marrero says he was interested in that building but the money I don't know, I don't know how much, I don't get to deal with the person and I'm listening to them talk about this building and I say: wow, I'm here right now because it's They closed the doors of a building and they are talking about a building that could be a church? And I asked them: where is that building? They told me in such a place, and I told them: do you dare to take me now after lunch? They brought me in and here we are fourteen years later.

And when before arriving here God had already put through the dream that I had of changing the name of our church, which was called the Central Baptist Church to the León de Judá congregation, because of the dream that I have had with the Lion of Judah. And when we got here to this building I've told you before and I on my third visit to the building, when I looked out there that we had made a preliminary deal with the owner, I see that lion that's embossed on the front door. They had changed the facade of the building but they had left the lion there, so that it would be known that this was the place where we had to arrive.

The Holy Spirit guides us brothers, he led Jesus Christ into the desert, he led him to be tempted by Satan so he could defeat him and he guided Paul when they tried to preach the gospel in an area and the Holy Spirit forbade them to preach it there. Then they went to another place and they also blocked the way until finally they had a dream of a man from Macedonia who told them: “come to Macedonia and help us”, and there they went and there the church of Philippi was born. Because the Holy Spirit directs and guides.

The word says that one day the apostles and prophets were in prayer to the Lord and they were ministering to the Lord and the Holy Spirit came and spoke and said to them: “separate Paul and Barnabas for me for the work that I have for them destined". There we saw them arise, commission them, and begin the greatest ministry the church has ever known, the ministry of the Apostle Paul.

Because the spirit directs brothers, when a person lets himself be directed and loves the Holy Spirit and prays to the Holy Spirit and lives seeking the anointing of the Holy Spirit and pays the price of the anointing of God, the Holy Spirit directs his life. There is blessing, there is growth. The Holy Spirit encourages him, directs him, guides him, advises him, that's what he did with Christ Jesus.

In this case he was led by the spirit into the desert to be tempted and to defeat Satan. Look further on in chapter 4, in verse 1… well, we already saw that, the spirit of the desert… then we go to verse 14, after being tempted in the desert and defeating the devil, in verse 14 he says: “. ....Jesus returned in what? In the power of the spirit to Galilee, and his fame spread throughout all the surrounding land and he taught in their synagogues and was glorified by all...”

Why? Because he had the filling of the Holy Spirit in his life. Why did his fame spread? Because there were miracles, signs, wonders, anointed teaching and preaching, a new and fresh message and not the puny and weak message of the Pharisees. It was a message that people spoke of power, of hope, of salvation from a God who loved them and who had a plan for their lives, and that's why people flocked to him, because he had the filling of the Holy Spirit within him. .

And so if you want to speak to people with authority about God and Christ, you need the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit inside a mouse turns it into a giant, into a lion that no one can resist. No matter how weak you are, no matter how ignorant you are, if you ask the Lord to anoint you and you pay the price, there is blessing in your life, there is growth, there is God's anointing.

I have seen that in some brothers up there who pray every Sunday between the two services and this little group of brothers is up there in one of the rooms on the third floor, and I see there brothers who actually They are humble people but I have seen their growth through the months and how God has been anointing them. I have seen them in the way they pray, I have seen them in their passion for God, I have seen them in the changes in their personality, I have observed through... they are not little angels, I imagine they have their mistakes and their defects but they are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Without a doubt and I benefit many times from going there with them and praying before the second service and I have seen that there is a difference in how I feel, because the anointing of God is in that place, because you have to pay a price, God transforms lives, God transforms the person when he gives himself to seek the anointing of the spirit of God.

Christ represents that, and I'm going to finish but I'm going to leave you with just that part because I'm going to continue next Sunday talking about the work of the Holy Spirit and why it's important and why I've I have chosen this section of my doctrinal presentations to discuss the doctrine of the Holy Spirit.

A couple more quotes and with that I promise I'm done, then we see that he returned in the power of the spirit to Galilee, then look what happens in verse 16: he arrives in Nazareth, his original city where he had grown up and on the Sabbath he arrives at the synagogue and preaches his first publicly known sermon, which is recorded in the Bible at least, it is his official sermon, it is like his inauguration sermon for his ministry. And the Lord arrives, they invite him to preach and he opens the book of Isaiah, he chooses as his mission statement, it is his vision statement. What is his ministry about? Whose is he? And how has God called you to serve him? and look at what he chooses, he says

“....he opened the prophet of Isaiah and having opened the book he found the place where it was written, that is, he looked for the place where it was written “the spirit of the Lord is upon me....", that was what he wanted to emphasize before anything else that the Holy Spirit of God was upon him.

And that spirit says"......has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, sight to the blind, to set free to the oppressed of the devil and preach the acceptable year of the Lord...”

How was Jesus Christ going to do all those incredible things if he didn't have the anointing, the spirit of God upon him? And that was what he meant.

Brothers, if you want to do the great works of God in your life, if you want to live a life of power and effectiveness and perpetual growth, you need the Holy Spirit to be upon you, you need to ask the Lord, may the banner of the Holy Spirit be constantly waving over your life.

And finally right there, well if this is really the final part, we can look for many more passages but what I want to intimate and teach you is that idea that even the ministry of Jesus, one would think, why Did Jesus Christ need the filling of the Holy Spirit if he is God? Well, he was in the form of a man and that form of man imposed certain limitations on him that he himself had imposed and accepted, so he had to follow the same pattern that every human being has to follow who wants to please God, serve the Lord effectively. . He had to have upon himself the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Don't you want to live that life of power? How many would like to have that vision, that life of power?

I want to invite the praise brothers to stop by for a little while. You need the anointing of the Holy Spirit, I want you to stand up for a moment now and if your life does not reflect that continuity brother, if your life does not reflect that gradual but continuous growth, if in your life there is rather a zigzag, a it goes up and down, a beginning but not an end, an interrupted path of growth, I want to encourage you in the name of Jesus this afternoon to invite the Holy Spirit to take possession of you, to fill himself, to fill you more well, with his person and his presence. I want you to leave here this afternoon with severe concern, if you will, that the Holy Spirit is moving within you. I do not want to encourage you in the name of the Lord to be intimate with the spirit of God because we want a Pentecostal church, amen. Not Pentecostal in the denominational sense of the word but in the biblical sense of the word.

I believe that every Christian should be Pentecostal in the sense that we do not move without the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The word says: “it is not with an army or with swords, but with what? But with my holy spirit says the Lord. The works of the Christian life are executed in the power of the Holy Spirit.

So I want right now brothers, that you start asking the Lord to do a special work in your life, start crying out to the Lord and what's more, if you want to come forward here let's pray and with that we are already fired. I want to invite you to come here, we are going to say a prayer to activate the movement of the Holy Spirit in your life, so that the Lord fills you, so that you leave here tonight nourished and strengthened with the power of the Holy Spirit. And that if there is something in your life that needs to stay in this place right now and not return with you to the house, let it stay because the anointing of God is going to rot the yoke this afternoon in the name of Jesus.

Come forward, come forward, come here, and we are going to ask the Lord now to touch us and visit us with his holy power.

The Bible says this is for those who are far away and for those who are near. You don't have to be a spiritual genius and I especially invite those who are new to the faith to come forward this afternoon. Those who still may not have had that experience yet.

If you just want a fresh renewal of spirit this afternoon. If you want to tell the Lord: Father, I am already tired of going up and down, of beginning and not finishing, of trying and not being able to, and I want you to do something terminal in my life, something final, definitive.

This afternoon I am going to ask that the Lord activate his power in your life, believe in faith, believe in faith because this is by faith, this is not by works, this is not because I am the great thing, this is what God has promised in his word. That if we ask, he will give. That if we invite him, he will enter.

The word says: if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him or her and he or she with me. And I want you to focus right now on one thing in your mind, put all other thoughts aside and just ask the Holy Spirit to refresh you.

If you have lost vision and have lost your spirit, you have lost joy, enthusiasm and you need the Lord to beat the waters again, move them and make the water jump again... perhaps you have suffered a trauma lately, a disappointment, an illness, a fright or whatever and you have frozen the oil of the spirit in your life, at this moment I am going to ask that the Lord refresh your life, refresh your mind, that the Lord refresh your emotions, and do something new in you. And he's going to do it because he promises it in the name of Jesus. And when you leave here, I want you to commit yourself to the Lord to seek more and more of the Holy Spirit every day.

Oh, I beg you in the name of Jesus to set aside places in your house to seek God, and if there is a park near your house that is quiet, where you can go and from time to time when you are going to go to that place and you are going to sit in a place alone or alone and you are going to ask the Lord to refresh you when you are tired and when you are in need of a new anointing and that we become lovers of the Holy Spirit .

What I want to tell you is that the Father is happy, the Son is happy, but the Holy Spirit also wants to be intimate with you. He is interested that you talk to him and that you call him and that you invite him and that you cultivate his action in you. Because he is as important as the Father, as the Son; the Holy Spirit.

So Father, now in the name of Jesus begin to pray with me, invite the spirit, say with me these words:

Spirit of God, Holy Spirit, I acknowledge that you are God Himself, that you are the third person of the Trinity and I now invite you to move within me, to baptize me with your fire, to fill me with your presence, to pour out your oil on my life. Anoint me, activate within me, pour out your double portion, use me for your glory, enlighten my understanding, guide me through life, flood me with your power, activate your presence within me. I receive you, fill me, anoint me, and baptize me with the fire of God. I recognize that you are the energy of God personified and that you have great things to do in my life, I receive you and invite you to fill me every day of my life in the name of Jesus, glory to the Lord, amen, amen.

Keep there crying out and receiving, visualize the fire of God entering your life, visualize a fresh visitation from the Lord,

I want to you visualize in your mind that the spirit of God enter your life right now, the fire of God, the energy of God coming into your life.

Create it in the name of Jesus, believe it and call on the Lord, call on the Lord right now to enlighten you, to break the ties of your mind, to remove any obstacle that is there, any trap that the devil has put in your life to make you stumble in your path right now. Receive the anointing of God, receive the anointing of God, I activate the power of God.

I activate the power of God in your life, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Father, we want a church filled with the Holy Spirit receive it, receive it now, invite the Holy Spirit into your life, and I assure you in the name of the Lord that in the next few days if not right now, your you are going to experience new things in your life, keep this moment fresh in your mind at all times and remember that the Lord is asking you to dwell there in his presence and let yourself be guided by him and let him flood you, let him visit again and again and when you are at work or on the street and you feel a little worn out or sad or tired or indifferent to the things of God, say I am going to go back to the waters again, and I am going to ask the Holy Spirit to fill me up again, I am going to fast for noon or a day, I am going to go to a secluded place and I am going to spend three or four hours there with the Lord asking him to visit me again and refresh me.

That has to be done continuously through the years, brothers. That must never end.

Thank you Father in the name of Jesus receive now, receive the anointing of God, receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, receive the power of God in your life, pour out Lord on your people, holy and fresh anointing. Renew the anointing of God in my brothers and sisters Lord and thank you for the work you are doing, work of renewal, thank you Father thank you, thank you Lord we adore you, we bless you Lord.
