Summary: The author reflects on the purpose of suffering and how we as humans struggle to understand it. They emphasize that we cannot fully comprehend God's plan and that our faith will inevitably be tested by trials and tribulations. The author reminds us that God suffered in his own flesh and understands our pain, and that one day we will understand everything. They reject the idea that God's mercy is limited and instead believe that God suffers with those who suffer. The author calls on us to trust, submit, and wait for the moment of reunion when we can finally understand.
We have just passed a desert. After 3 painful months of pain and anguish for all, a dear brother went to the presence of the Lord. Understand God's purpose with so much suffering?
We can speculate all we want, this has no explanation for our finite mind, we are not prepared to see his Glory in adversity, we only lament like helpless children without being able to glimpse this Salvation so great that it still accompanies us through pain.
Our faith? trembles at the trials and we ask ourselves: Why? Without having a precise vision of how it was with Him. Who told us that we are exempt from sufferings and pains? Who guaranteed us a life free of trials, which in the end, are human? Who told us that our God did not suffer in his own flesh, to give us the assurance that he would understand everything that happened in our life and in this way forgive us and give us an eternity with Him? Even when we put Him on the cross again and again with our foolishness, He knows that we are weak in the face of temptations and He knows how difficult they are to resist, because He was tempted in all things.
One day we will understand everything, his plan, perfect plan and we will know why he allowed some things, what if we must be sure is that he is by our side and loves us with that love that "exceeds all understanding". Praying is all we have left and waiting that he fulfills his word and purpose, because he is faithful.
In search of reasons, someone said: -God does not share his Glory (referring to the fact that our brother's family were idolaters), his wife and his daughter do not, they are our sisters. They have been a bulwark of faith, an example to follow, they have been tested like Job and they have stood firm in their confidence that God will do the best.
But, I thought, is that my God? Is his mercy limited by a selfish, godless egocentricity? Not! My God is different, My God suffers with those who suffer and his Holy Spirit groans with the agony of his children, my God is capable of taking us to his abode to avoid further suffering or free us from a life without quality that can become a stumbling block for the lives of others. That would be my God!
I think we presumptuously boast at times, presuming that we know the God whose will is always in correspondence with his justice. Let's just trust, submit and wait for the moment of reunion. Then and only then can we understand.
