Numbers 11:17 • 1 Corinthians 12:31
We carry burdens, heavy and deep A restless spirit, promises to keep The Spirit whispers, "You're not alone" A sacred sharing, seeds divinely sown With gifts abundant, diverse and true For every purpose, for me and for you.
But there's a higher path, a deeper stream More than just power, more than a dream Love is the current, the life-giving flow The operating system, where all gifts grow It's the heart of the Father, the Spirit's design Love, the excellent way, forever divine.
Though I speak in tongues of men and angels bright Or fathom mysteries, shining like a light With faith to move mountains, to conquer all fear If love isn't burning, what do you hear? Just clanging metal, a hollow, empty sound Without true compassion, no solid ground.
The prophecies will vanish, all knowledge fade away The tongues will cease their speaking, at the dawning of that day For perfect understanding, will make these gifts undone But something far more lasting, will forever run It's Christ's own character, shining through and through Humble and patient, in all that we do.
Oh, there's a higher path, a deeper stream More than just power, more than a dream Love is the current, the life-giving flow The operating system, where all gifts grow It's the heart of the Father, the Spirit's design Love, the excellent way, forever divine.
So seek the gifts, with purpose and grace But let His pure love fill every space For only love remains, when all else departs The eternal melody, within our hearts. Forever divine... only love remains.
