Free to Forgive

Genesis 50:17 • Ephesians 4:32

Sometimes my heart forgets the path, A quiet whisper I fail to heed. I let the bitter drops amass, A thorny root, a painful seed. The pride ascends, a judge I stand, "I cannot grant what you demand." And shadows lengthen in my soul, As bitterness begins to take its toll.

Oh, to forgive, as I've been shown, By grace divine, from Heaven's throne. When Christ erased my every stain, He broke the power, healed the pain. Be kind and tenderhearted, let it cease, Find solace, comfort, inner peace. Release the burden, set it free, As God in Christ has forgiven me.

The restless nights, the anxious mind, The heavy weight I still embrace. I walk estranged from what I find, A vacant smile upon my face. How can I cling to yesterday, When Calvary paved a different way? He bore my sin, He took my shame, And whispered freedom in His name.

Search deep within, beloved soul, Cast out the rust, make your heart whole. He gave the power, He made the plea, To cleanse the wrongs done unto thee. A sweet offering, a sacred art, To heal the wounds within your heart. It honors Him, who set you free, A rainbow symbol, for all to see.

Yes, as God in Christ, forgave me. Let peace flow, let your heart be free. A love so true, for Him to see. Forgive... and be free.
