Imagine two majestic mountains, separated by a vast valley, yet clearly part of the same range. Genesis and Matthew are much like this in Scripture. Though separated by centuries and distinct historical contexts – one shaping a nascent nation with tangible laws and lineages, the other proclaiming a universal message in a diverse world – they are inextricably linked. They tell one story : the story of God moving from the shadow of the Law to the radiant substance of Grace.
This beautiful continuity isn't just an academic observation; it's a testament to God's unwavering faithfulness. The God who initiated His covenant with Abraham, promising a lineage and a land, is the very same God who brought those promises to glorious fulfillment in Jesus Christ. We don't strive to get grace; we strive from grace. We don't obey to become His child; we obey because we are His beloved child. What freedom this brings!
