Summary: The spiritual man (or woman) is one who has been born of the Spirit and is a new creation of God. However, there is also the carnal or immature Christian who struggles with establishing their own lordship instead of surrendering to the influence of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is complete and given without limitations by the Spirit, but one must live in Christ and rest in Him to receive it. The Spirit empowers and imparts gifts for the edification of the church and to glorify God. It is possible to become self-controlled, meek, faithful, kind, patient, peaceful, full of joy, and full of love through submission to the Spirit's lordship and abiding in Christ. The flesh, or old nature, has already died on the cross, and if one decides to be spiritual (ruled by the Spirit), their life will change.
The spiritual man (woman) is one who has been born of the Spirit and therefore is a new creation of God, a workmanship of God in Jesus Christ, his Son; says the Word. It would seem counterproductive to express that the Lord blesses the man who has been born in the birth hall of his grace, but there is no contradiction. Precisely because there is another man, a Christian in addition, who having met God, through Christ, struggles with him to establish his own lordship, thus preferring to exercise control over his life and leaving aside the influence of the Spirit in it. According to the Bible (1 Corinthians 3.1-2) this is the carnal or immature Christian.
We often hear expressions like this: I don't have the full fruit of the Spirit; I have faith, but it is hard for me to express love; I try to be kind, but I have no control over my reactions and emotions and I cannot contain myself; I get angry easily and I know that I give a bad testimony. What I can do? Dear brothers and sisters, the Scriptures speak for themselves in this crucial area of life in Christ. For a long time I also thought this way and I came to feel miserable and full of guilt before God. The fruit of the Spirit is one and the Spirit gives it complete when one comes to the feet of Christ and gives him life. What really happens is that the carnal Christian lives in the energy of his egocentricity and his own will and not in the power of the Spirit.
We are aware that we are born again, but we flirt with the old nature and the old self and do not surrender to God those areas of life that have to be restored and that he wants to transform. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law ”(Galatians 5.22-23)
There is an irrefutable truth. One becomes a Christian through the work of the Holy Spirit and although the Spirit lives in all Christians, not all have the power of the Spirit because they do not allow its control and direction. The fruit of the Spirit is one and only one. He offers it without limitations, but there is a conditioning factor: you have to live in Christ and rest in him, remain in him. It is the divine formula for walking in the Spirit and seeking fruit. The only source of energy and power is the Spirit of God; He confirms that we are children of God (Ro 8.14-16), he is God, (1Co 2.11-12), he came to dwell in each one of us (Ro 8.9), to convince humanity of justice and sin (John 16.8 ); He came to guide us to the truth (John 16:13) and to glorify Jesus, the Son of the living God (John 16:14).
The Spirit empowers and imparts gifts for the edification of the church of Christ and to glorify God, not for the Christian to boast of himself. In Christ we see the fruit of the Spirit shine and we long for it complete. It is just about wanting him with all your heart and asking God to reveal to us those areas of life that we have not surrendered to him. It costs work, it costs sacrifice, it costs pain; but it cost an innocent life, it cost a precious gift from the Father and it cost the pain of death on the cross.
What does this all mean? It simply means that we can become self-controlled, meek and faithful, kind and kind, patient and peaceful, full of joy and full of love. The Lord did not give you patience and at the same time made you angry; He did not create you meek and on the other hand he made you bitter about life; He did not put kindness in your heart so that when you come back you will be a loveless person. He gave you everything when you were born again, it is a complete package wrapped in the cellophane of his infinite grace. The Spirit himself will help you develop the fruit as you submit to his lordship and live abiding in Christ.
Do not be discouraged. The Lord knows your heart and when he looks at you, it is as if he is looking at his beloved Son. Grow, mature, live rejoicing in his salvation, his victory; you have the fruit, it is just a problem of establishing the proper relationship with Jesus so that the Spirit reveals to you those areas not surrendered to his lordship and control, and you humbly surrender, definitely, for blessing. It's about Jesus. "For those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires" (Gl 5.24).
The flesh is the old nature, stumbling block even while we are in this world, but it has already died. The Spirit of God in us celebrated the funeral funeral services for the flesh on the cross, he made a resounding funeral to exalt the victory of the Lamb of glory. If you decide to be spiritual (ruled by the Spirit), your life will change. God bless you.
God bless your Word!
