Summary: The Shunammite woman is a great example of focus and determination when it comes to presenting her needs before the Lord. She doesn't want to be distracted by superficial conversations or stop along the way, but instead is focused on reaching the prophet Elisha. This is why it is important for us to be dedicated and persistent in our requests to God, and to create an appropriate environment of silence, prayer, and stillness to concentrate our faculties on our cause. Fasting can also be helpful to remove distractions and focus our minds on the task at hand. We must remove all distractions from our life and focus on one thing only if our service to the Lord is to be useful.

When the Shunammite woman sees her problem that she has lost her son, she goes to her husband, having left her son in the prophet's room, she asks her husband for help to go see the prophet but it does not tell the whole story, and there we could see clearly how important it is that we be surrendered to the Lord so that God can truly speak to us and carry out His purposes in our life because if we are superficial like this husband of the Shunammite as we saw in our last meditation then God is going to omit His great revelations in our life.

Now, we see here that when this woman prepares the donkey on which she is going to go to the prophet, she tells her servant: "Guide and walk, and don't make me stop on the road except when I tell you to; and then immediately he left and he went to Mount Carmel where the prophet of God dwelt. "

Here what I see is, and I want to isolate, is this element of concentration, of focus. This woman is a determined, clear woman, and she knows that she needs all the resources of faith that she can muster to do what she has to do. She doesn't want to be entertained by superfluous conversations, she doesn't want to stop until she gets where she needs to go.

And even later, when the man of God sees her from afar, he sends Gehazi, her servant to greet her, and Gehazi asks some such social questions: how are you, is it going well for you, is it going well for your husband? and look at her response, she said "good". A short answer as simply to fire him and put him aside because she knows that where she has to go is the very person of the prophet Elisha. She does not want to entertain superficial conversations and she knows that Gehazi is not the man she needs, she directly needs the person of Elisha because the magnitude of the miracle requires a great intervention from God that can only come from the prophet.

How important it is brothers that we be dedicated and persistent when we have great requests to present before the Lord. That is why fasting for example is so useful when there are great things that we need God to do in our life.

Many times the virtue of fasting is not so much that we go hungry as the fact that when we stop eating for a while, we remove that distraction from our mind, our body is not investing energy in digesting food in the stomach but has, the resources and the mind are focused on the task that lies ahead, on the request that we have before God.

Then we are freer to pray, to hear from God, to focus on one thing and this results in blessing and help for the mission that we have ahead, that is one of the powers of fasting.

That is why it is so important that when we want God to do something great in our life we seek an appropriate environment, in silence, prayer, stillness so that we can concentrate our faculties on what we are presenting before the Lord, because we have certainly since focus is key.

We talked earlier about the other woman, the widow where she says she cried out to the prophet Elisha and we talked about the importance of the cry, that the cry emphasizes intensity, concentration, passion when we present our cause before the Lord. We speak of Ana who poured out her soul before the Lord.

It is important that when we conceive something that God wants us to do, we bring that request to the red-hot, that we insistently present it before the Lord in great detail, that we insist until that vision becomes a small but dense and powerful projectile that reaches up to the very heart of the Lord.

This woman is an example of passion focused on a well-defined purpose, because the magnitude of her need is so great, and she is an example for us that when we want God to do something, we do not get distracted by vain conversations and other concerns. instead we focus on one thing only. If our service to the Lord is to be useful it has to be focused, we have to remove all distractions from our life.

And this woman over and over again puts aside all distractions: her husband who is a superficial man, the idea of stopping on the way to have side conversations, stopping to talk to Gehazi, she wants to get directly to where the prophet is. . It is very important to cultivate that sense of passion, concentration and dedication in the matters of our spiritual life. God bless you, until our next message.
