Summary: The Shunammite woman asks her husband for resources to visit the prophet after her son's death. Her husband only sees the prophet as a ritualistic occasion and cannot conceive that she may want to visit him for any other reason. The woman does not tell her husband about her son's death as she needs to focus on her mission and does not want distractions. This teaches us the importance of sharing our visions and dreams with people who can support and enrich our vision, not with those who will discourage us. We need to be determined and focused on our mission to experience the powerful moves of God.
After the death of her son, the Shunammite woman goes to her husband and asks for resources to go visit the prophet, she tells him to provide one of the servants and a donkey to run to where the man of God is. she has devised a plan. She knows she has to go and talk to the prophet because the same God who gave her son is powerful to give it back to her too.
However, here there is an interesting dialogue that reveals something about the psychology of both the Shunammite woman and her husband, because when she tells him: look, I want to go see the prophet, he says: "Why are you going to see him today? It is neither a new moon nor a Sabbath. "
This man cannot conceive that the Shunammite can go to the prophet simply for any reason other than ritual. It's like people who only go to church on Sundays and it doesn't occur to them to go on a night of prayer or who can get involved in a Bible study that leads them to go on another day of the week. The ritualistic person only sticks to the bare minimum that he has not included God in all other dimensions of life.
This also reveals, as we have said before, by actions and words the character of a character is revealed, something of this man, he is rather like many typical men, a person who is conformist with things of the spirit. She, the woman, is the one who is living the drama of her relationship with God and the spiritual adventure. As he is on the sidelines, he is not aware of the incredible story that is unfolding at this moment and that is why he kind of asks him casually: but why are you going to visit this man if there is no such ritual occasion, no festival that will lead you to go to worship, so where is the prophet officiating?
Interestingly, the Shunammite does not tell her husband why she wants to go see the prophet, she does not tell him that her son has died. And there we are told something and it is that, I believe that if this woman had told this man that his son was dead, possibly he would have despaired, would have interfered with his plan, would have made his life more difficult and at this moment she needed resources, she needed to go directly to the prophet without having to stop. She was focused on a mission and knew that time was important, that she needed pure and clear in what she had to do and did not need distractions of any kind.
Another spiritual lesson. Many times when we are in situations of great urgency and great emergency we cannot afford to share the vision of the spirit that we have with superficial people who do not understand the level of faith that we are exercising at that moment.
It is important that if you are going to share the dreams and visions that God has given you, you do so with people who can strengthen you, support you, support you and even enrich your vision, not with people who are going to tell you: "oh that's one thing. how crazy you dare to think that, God does not work that way, you are being a fan ", no. We have to save the great visions and the great adventures to share with people who can truly understand what we are doing and can be a resource for us.
That is why I believe that when the Lord was going to do this miracle in the Gospels regarding the daughter of Jairus, you will remember, He only entered a couple of His disciples into the room because the other people were laughing at Him when He told them: No, she is not dead, she simply sleeps because He knew He was going to raise her, they laughed at Him because that is how superficial people are, they do not understand the most powerful move of God.
So the Lord reserved that miracle only for two of His chosen disciples who could believe, who had the maturity to see what He was going to do, who were not going to rob Him of concentration or clarity in the miracle He wanted to perform.
This woman is silent, she does not say anything to her husband for the moment because she knows that she needs to go very quickly to where the prophet is, and there we have a lesson. If we are superficial with God, the great adventures, the great revelations, the great manifestations of the Power of God will pass over our heads and we will be left out of them.
This woman is a determined woman and all her action is limited to a mission, and we will see in our next meditation how important this aspect of this woman's personality is. God bless you and until our next message.
