Summary: The Bible teaches that one day everything will come to an end, but we should not fear it. Instead, we should focus on living a godly life and making a positive impact on those around us. We should not get caught up in the details of the end times, but rather focus on the big picture and be prepared for when that day comes.
Some teachings of the Bible that have often been ridiculed or misinterpreted are those that have to do with the end of the world. It is likely that the insistent and sometimes exaggerated way in which some believers refer to the end times and the excessive emphasis on apocalyptic prophecies has helped to create some rejection of such biblical truths.
Does the Word of God teach that one day everything will end? Many biblical portions present different facets of the end times. Probably the mistake of many is to insist on details and dates and not on the big picture that can only be glimpsed if a general and deep knowledge of the Scriptures is achieved. However, there is a passage that somehow sums it up and also presents a way of living to prepare for these events: “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements burning will be waste, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up ”(2 Peter 3:10). We do not need to go into detail or do an explanatory study of what these events will be like. There have always been different opinions. The truth is that, although we do not know when, the Bible clearly teaches that one day everything will come to an end.
For me, the most essential of the passage quoted in the previous paragraph comes later: “Since all these things are to be thrown away, how should you not walk in a holy and pious way of living, waiting and hastening for the day of God! " (2 Peter 3:11).
We should not fear the end of the world or any of the events that the Bible calls the day of wrath, the day of the Lord, or the day of God. Regardless of how much happens on that day or the magnitude of those events, there is a reality in our lives, on a personal level, that we must face: You and I will not always be on earth! Have you thought about? Each of us has a final day that we cannot predict either.
I do not know if I will be alive the day I come in Christ, but I do know that one day I will leave this world. We are here in passing. The most important thing, then, is to live a godly life because this is not only good for us, but for everyone around us. The day you are gone, what memory will people have of your passage through earth?
Live in such a way that your family and friends can remember you with gratitude, because the world and their own lives were better thanks to your influence and your presence among them.
God bless you!
