Summary: The story of the Shunammite woman, who prepared a room for the prophet Elisha to stay in, teaches us about the importance of being diligent in advancing the Kingdom of God. When we invest our life, money, and talents in the Kingdom, the Holy Spirit will want to bless and prosper us. The best way to assure a blessed and prosperous life is by being generous with the Kingdom of God. Elisha offers to help the Shunammite woman, but she declines, showing her disinterested heart and passion for the Kingdom of God. God is always looking for ways to bless those who are diligent toward His Kingdom.

One day the prophet Elisha decides to stay in this room that this woman had so lovingly and delicately prepared, to facilitate the prophet's ministry. Then he says that one day Eliseo comes along the way, he stays, he sleeps in the room that this woman had prepared for him.

And then the story continues that, after sleeping there, Elisha calls his servant Gehazi says in verse 12: "Then he said to his servant Gehazi: Call this Shunammite. And when he called her she came before him and he said then to Gehazi: Tell her: here you have been caring for us with all this care, what do you want me to do for you? Do you need me to speak for you to the king or the general of the army? And she replied: I live in the midst of me town."

Fascinating this detail of the story because, Elisha is grateful for this woman. She has been so solicitous to help him, she has done so many things for him and for his ministry, and then we see that Eliseo feels gratitude towards this woman and uses his servant to give a message to this woman, call her and ask her: look at you You have been so generous to us, what can I do for you?

Here is a very important lesson and it is that, when we strive and are diligent in advancing the interests of the Kingdom of God, when we invest our life, our money, our talents in the Kingdom of the Lord, the Holy Spirit will always want to bless us. , prosper us, reward us, God is never indebted to anyone.

God is always looking for ways to reward those who are diligent toward His Kingdom. The best way for one to assure himself of a blessed life, a prosperous life, a life protected by divine protection is by being generous with the Kingdom of God. The Bible says that he who reaps generously will reap generously, and whoever sows sparingly will also reap from God.

Salvation is free through the blood of Jesus and through accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior, but great advances in the Kingdom of God, great discoveries in the spiritual life come as a result of being generous and diligent. to the things of the Lord. God does not reward and bless the petty and clinging person but those who are generous with His Kingdom and who invest in it.

And when that person manifests God will always want to bless them. I see here the Holy Spirit through Elisha saying: This woman loves My Kingdom, she has wanted to bless my things, now I want to do something for her. Then we see that Elisha asks this woman through the prophet: what can I do for you?

Very interesting that Elisha underestimates this woman. There are a couple of occasions in this passage where the Shunammite even corrects Elisha and like she has more spiritual discernment even than God's own prophet and here we have a case, where Elisha thinks that: maybe I can help this woman by giving a reference to the king or general of the army because they were powerful people and well, maybe I can help her financially or in any need that she has, any connection that she needs, a favor for her business or something like that with a person of influence , and Elisha was a very powerful man because, when the Church of Christ moves in the power of the Holy Spirit even the civil authorities bow before the authority of the Church.

So Elisha had contact with the king, he had contact with the army general and could help this woman, and he thinks that this is what this woman is going to be interested in, some kind of personal, material favor.

But notice how the character of this woman is portrayed again, her integrity, her spiritual height, because she tells him in a sense when she says: "I live among my people" this woman is saying to the prophet: thank you, but do you know what? ? I live well, I am sufficient, I do not need you to contact me with any of these people of authority. This woman was never looking for any favors.

How good it is when we serve the Lord even because serving the Lord is good, because He has already done so much for us through His Son Jesus Christ, because we owe him our very life, and we serve Him out of love, not bread and bread. fish that He can give us.

How good it is to have a disinterested heart instead of trying to manipulate God in the way that: if I give him this He will give me the other and if I do this He will bless me in this way. What we are called to do is serve God, bless the things of the Lord and then let Him do what He wants in our life knowing that somehow the blessing will come, but that this is not the main thing in our life but a selfless desire to bless the Kingdom of the Lord.

And that is why this woman stands out so much for her selfless character and her passion for the Kingdom of God. In our next passage we are going to see something very interesting also about how Elisha finally manages to bless this woman, which also tells us a lot about how God is also always restless looking to bless us in our own life. God bless you and until our next message.
