Summary: Losing loved ones, especially children, is incredibly difficult and painful. It is natural to want to pray for their souls and salvation, even after physical death. We must learn to live with our burdens and rely on God for comfort. Sometimes, physical death may be necessary to save a soul. The spiritual death of our children is just as painful, and we must pray for them and appeal to divine mercy. Persevering in prayer does not make the pain disappear, but God comforts us in our tribulations. His grace is sufficient for us in our weakness.
If there is something that has always been difficult for me to deal with, it is the loss of loved ones and even worse if it is children. I have a son, the very idea of losing him causes indescribable pain, that is why I can feel the pain of those who are going through the test and I know that the only consolation can be found in our Lord.
Some time ago a mother asked me if even after death she could intercede for the forgiveness of her sins and her salvation. There are so many things that I do not know! It would be presumptuous of me to have told you that after physical death there was no comfort, but God is so merciful! We will never have the magnitude of his love for us, I only answered him: -if your heart tells you to pray for the soul of your son, do it, if that gives you comfort, do it, no matter what someone may tell you, God only knows to what extent he listens to a mother's plea.
I know that the pain felt is very strong and the despair and helplessness of not being able to do anything about it, but we have to learn to live with our heavy burdens and the only one we can rest it on is in Him.
God tells us in 1 Cor 5.5 "such is delivered to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord Jesus"
So what does God tell us? Is it that sometimes it is better to destroy the body so that our soul is not lost? I want to think that it is better this way, that God allows the body to be lost so that the soul is saved. We will only know the truth when God calls us to his eternal home.
I once read the testimony of a father who lost his Christian son in Colombia, assassinated. He said, “We have eight children. They are all alive: one is in heaven, and seven here on Earth "
Physical death is very painful, but for Christian parents the spiritual death of our children is just as or more painful. In the streets, even in our homes, there are corpses that walk and work, far from God and the forgiveness he offers.
When we see our children walking on the “Road of Death” (Jeremiah 21.8, James 5.20), we suffer deeply and the only thing left for us then is to pray for them, appeal to divine mercy and beg God to do the work of the Holy Spirit In their lifes.
But the faith committed and persevered in prayer does not make the pain disappear completely, waiting in God's time for the growth of their spirits is exhausting for our soul and only Grace can sustain us because we realize how fragile we are and how little control. we have about ourselves and those we love.
God knows this and comforts us in our tribulations. (2 Corinthians 1.4) He knows what it is to see a child die, he knows about sufferings, that is why God does not judge us for our suffering, in his immense mercy he tells us: “My grace is sufficient for you; because my power is made perfect in weakness "
