Summary: The story of the widow and Elisha in 2 Kings 4:1-7 shows how God can perform miracles in our lives, but also how we need to take action and participate in the process. The widow's diligence in collecting vessels and pouring oil led to God's miraculous multiplication of the oil, but when there were no more vessels, the miracle stopped. Elisha instructed her to sell the oil and pay her creditors, and she was able to live comfortably on the remaining income. God wants us to take action and confidently approach Him for help in our difficulties.

The widow was pouring oil and in a miraculous way God was multiplying it while the jars were empty. But when all the vessels were full this woman said to a son of hers: bring me still other vessels, and he said: there are no more vessels, then the oil stopped.

While this woman was busy I imagine that these guys were happy to bring her all the pots they had gotten and this woman was just looking at the next empty pot and pouring in the oil, and she had no chance to observe the surroundings and see everything that was going on. , and she was enthusiastic about pouring and pouring oil, and when all the pots were already full and she said: good follow me bringing pots, and unfortunately there were no more pots left, and then one of the sons said to her: no mom, there are no more more vessels.

That word: there are no more vessels closed the miraculous intervention of God. Again, the power of the human realm, of the human word, of the human dimension. It is not that this oil continued to spill but that the human word, the circumstance that there were no more vessels to fill, closed the power and the move of God in this case, right?

She says that she came again and told Elisha what had happened, and Elisha's words at the end are very beautiful and very instructive, he said: go and sell the oil, and pay your creditors, and you and your children live of what remains. Nice this ending because again: one would like these miracles of God to be more elegant, cheaper, more explosive. But now this woman after all the effort she had put in had to take the oil and sell it in the market, and get a price for it.

Again: as part of God's process many times we are going to have to, even when God has performed the miracle and has given the Word of faith, then there are still things that we have to do, that happens in the ministry, it happens in different life aspects. I have learned so much about how much God is pleased to participate with me and work with me, and the important thing is that I be a well-polished, well-worked instrument, well-prepared so that God can use His Power and channel it through me.

The better prepared I am, the more broken, the more treated by God, the more polished, the more sanctified, the more intellectually capable I am, the better God will be able to use me because God has a dimension that likes to work through what we we bring you, the resources that we bring you at your disposal. The more we give to the Lord, the more the Lord can use us.

This woman then had to, I imagine, find people to buy her oil, set a price, negotiate with different people who were going to buy it from her, and collect money to pay off creditors, which was her original reason why she came. before the prophet Elisha.

Interestingly, her vision was initially very limited, it was to solve her pressing crisis of the moment and prevent her children from being taken as slaves to pay her husband's debt. But notice that God blesses her even beyond what she thought and Elisha tells her: "And you and your children live on what is left." In other words: there was enough oil not only to pay off the creditors but also so that this woman could get enough money to have as a pension for the rest of her life and to be able to live on those income from the oil that she had to sell.

How wonderful is the Lord. It reminds me of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes that says that there were twelve baskets full of loaves and fishes left over. When God gives, when God responds, He does so sometimes in much more abundant ways than we dared to think.

This woman through her diligent intervention of taking the initiative, coming before God, using her husband's credentials, obeying the prophet's instructions, God blessed her with a wonderful anointing. Her children were released and she was able to live comfortably with the result of that oil that she sold for the rest of her life.

God wants to use His Power in our favor, God does not want us to cower and die, God does not want us to get depressed because difficulties and pressures come to our lives but He wants us to take action and confidently approach before the Throne of Grace to receive the timely help that He promises.

May God bless us and make us such powerful and exemplary people as this wonderful widow of Scripture. God bless you and I say goodbye to you with blessing for your lives and for your ministries, in the Name of Jesus, amen and amen.
