We cannot condemn

Summary: Believers should not despise or judge those who do not share their beliefs. Jesus was understanding and generous with people who lacked faith or had different beliefs. We should be careful not to have a condemning attitude towards those we want to share the Gospel with, and show them how valuable they are to God and to us. Our mission is to introduce them to the Savior and make them feel loved by God. Our relationship with God can satisfy our deepest longings at no cost.

God is no respecter of persons. Believers should not despise those who do not believe, or think that because they do not believe they have less value as human beings. The same happens with those who belong to other religions or belief systems . In our eagerness for other people to know about Christ, sometimes we are not very careful and we use expressions that can offend or confuse, and therefore alienate those we want to reach from Christianity.

Although it is true that Jesus harshly lashed out at the Pharisees - who did believe in precisely the same God - for their fanatical, erroneous, intolerant and often inconsistent behavior, he was nevertheless very understanding and generous with people who lack faith, with different beliefs or with a life not exactly recommended, they approached him or sought him out trying to satisfy some need. The biblical passage is known in which a woman, caught in adultery, was brought before him by those who tried to stone her according to the law of Moses.

"He who is without sin among you," said Jesus, "cast the first stone against her." Thus he disarmed his accusers, who were withdrawing one by one. More surprising was that when the woman was left alone with Jesus, despite knowing her sin perfectly, he told her:

"I don't condemn you." Go away and sin no more.

Let us be careful not to have a condemning attitude towards those we want to hear and understand the message of the Gospel. Showing spiritual superiority or contempt for the beliefs that other people have, —which are very valuable and dear to them—, can be totally negative if we want to reach their hearts with the redemptive message of God's love in Christ.

A woman who was active in an Afro-Cuban religion for a long time, converted to the Gospel. They had preached to him disparagingly of his beliefs and for a long time he rejected the Christian faith. One day he met a married couple who, although they barely preached to him in words, did give him a Bible. Both showed him a care and consideration that disarmed his prejudices about Jesus and the Christians. Being treated in this way by the couple felt that for the first time she was considered a valuable and worthy human being. This fact revolutionized a life jaded with mistreatment, contempt and abandonment. Today she serves the Lord with incredible joy and dedication.

The method of Jesus Christ is infallible. Let us approach those who want to win for Christ, making them feel how valuable they are to God and to ourselves. No matter how sinful a person is, he is so precious to God that he sent his Son to save him. Since we are all redeemed sinners, we cannot condemn anyone, but show understanding and compassion to those who live in slavery to their sins and bad decisions. Our mission is to introduce them to the Savior and make them feel, by sharing the gospel message — especially through our attitudes — how much God loves them. To find God you only have to do one thing: look for him. Unlike human beings, who when we abandon them for something or have stopped doing what others expected a good fight awaits us before normalizing relationships, God simply opens his arms and embraces us. He is merciful and forgiving.

Our relationship with God is capable of delighting our soul, of satisfying our deepest longings. And all that at no cost!

God bless you!
