Summary: The author met Yadira, a physically disabled girl, and shared the Gospel with her. She accepted Jesus and her life was transformed. The author encourages readers to share the Gospel with those around them and not be afraid to be a missionary for God. God can use anyone to reach the lost, but it requires obedience and courage.
When I looked into Yadira's eyes, I remembered the prayer we had raised to God before leaving for the harvest: "Father, prepare the hearts of those who are to be saved this morning." Yadira is a beautiful creature of God. We met her as we passed her humble home with a handful of evangelistic tracts in our hands and a burning desire in our hearts. She could not run like all children during her childhood because a terrible disease twisted her the bones of her feet and left her physically disabled. But his eyes were intact as in his childhood; big, black, bright like a pair of stars just made by God.
He received the treaty in his hands and smiled inviting us to enter his humble home dragging his left leg with difficulty. A heart receptive to the Gospel can only be the work of God's grace. Again I remembered the morning prayer of supplication to reach lost souls: "Lord, Lord, lead us with your Spirit where there is need."
The instant Yadira agreed to give her young life to Christ, her eyes filled with tears with emotion and she clutched the tract in her hands as if she feared that someone would take it from her. Broken spirit that breaks free from the prisons of a life without Jesus. "But now, having been freed from sin and made servants of God, they have sanctification as their fruit, and as a result eternal life" (Ro 6.22). His crooked feet couldn't keep him from sitting up, and his limp seemed to disappear for a moment. My mission partner, F.B., prayed in the Spirit with gratitude for Yadira's (new) life.
God performs this miracle every day, but He cannot do it alone. It needs from you. There are many Yadiras around you, sitting on the threshold of salvation waiting for someone to approach them with the Good News of Jesus Christ to cross the line that separates them from eternal damnation. Most have not lived like Yadira with their almost useless feet, but in a state of total spiritual death, which includes not only feet, but soul and heart.
If you don't, Jesus says that the stones will preach to the lost: But He replied: "I tell you that if they are silent, the stones will cry out." (Lk 19:40). The Christian life falls short of God's expectations if it does not propose to proclaim His Gospel of light and hope. Living according to the Gospel means always being alert to the missionary voice of God. Either the stones or you. God prefers it to be you. The Book of Life still has many unnamed leaves.
I know that in your mind Yadira has become a person of flesh and blood for whom you have prayed for a long time. Be obedient and fear not. Help God build his spiritual house for eternity: Then David said to his son Solomon: “Be strong, be courageous, and do the work; do not fear or be discouraged, because the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you, until all the work of serving the house of the Lord is finished. (1 Chronicles 28.20).
God bless you!
