Summary: The Ebola virus is a result of human transgression and indifference towards others. Only God can alleviate the evil caused by such plagues. Love can bring down Ebola, and the world could be better with Christ. Psalm 91 provides hope and comfort to those who trust in God's protection and salvation. Let us pray for God's mercy and intervention to end the Ebola epidemic.
The news of the Ebola virus brings me to Psalm 91. Death tragedies. Always death with its message of desolation and sadness. Always the poor, the innocent, paying for "the dishes that others broke." No virus comes out of nowhere, if it is not man who causes it through ignorance or disobedience. An Ebola that ensures the definitive death of human beings created in the image and likeness of God. The poverty of man is almost always associated with the indifference that a few give to their fellow man. As I always clarify, my reflection is theology. It's all about God, it's all about God, even Ebola. Any plague could be avoided, any pandemic would find containment. "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will dwell in the shadow of the Almighty" (Psalm 91.1).
Speculating on the origin of evil does not make sense. We know that it is the heart of man, the transgression of the flesh, worldly passions, the lust for riches. It is better to think about what God can do to alleviate the evil; perhaps think of the doctors who distribute medicine and gospel at the same time. Even death can give us hope because God glory in the weaknesses of the spiritual man and still has mercy for those who believe themselves to be the protagonists of the cures and forget to give Him glory. He can turn evil into good.
We are surrounded by plagues that cause daily deaths. The daily death caused by an overdose of some lethal drug, no longer even occupies space in the headlines of the world press. Thousands of addicts die day after day (more than from Ebola). The suicide rate has not lowered its daily indicators in the last 20 years because of despair and hopelessness (more daily suicides than Ebola victims). Hunger kills more children every day than the lethal ravages that Ebola produces today. They are the plagues that have become customary and of whose deaths almost no one speaks. "I will say to the Lord:" My refuge and my strength, my God, in whom I trust. " (Psalm 91.2).
Ebola does not come from Africa, but from misery. Ebola is in the heart of man. Ah! but how different it would be if the world turned to God. “For He will give orders to His angels about you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they will carry you, so that your foot does not stumble on a stone ”(Psalm 91.10.11). Stumbling of indifference towards others. Science still has no answer for the Ebola cure. Christ yes. There is no vaccine that heals the disease at its roots, love does.
Love can bring down Ebola so it doesn't spread. There is no disease, no virus, or strains that infect human beings and resist God's ideal of transforming the world with Christ. The world could be better, but with Christ. Someone said: if you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. We have the solution! Only U.S. Neither you nor I discover it, but God. It cost a life, an unequaled sacrifice and blood involved for the blessing of God's children. Our song against Ebola comes from the mouth of God: “Because he has put his love in me, then I will deliver him; I will exalt him, because he has known my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in anguish; I will rescue him and honor him; I will satisfy him with long life, and I will show him My salvation. " (Psalms 91.14-16). Let us pray that God will act according to his power and power, forgive once the folly of human man and end this terrible epidemic.
God bless you!

Dwelling in the shadow of the Almighty
91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
He will dwell in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to Jehovah: My hope, and my castle;
My God, in whom I will trust.
3 He will deliver you from the hunter's snare,
From the destructive plague.
4 With his feathers he will cover you,
And under his wings you will be safe;
Shield and buckler is his truth.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
Nor an arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor the plague that destroys at noonday.
7 A thousand will fall by your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it will not come to you.
8 Certainly with your eyes you will see
And you see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my hope,
To the Most High for your room,
10 No harm will befall you,
No plague will touch your home.
11 For he will command his angels over you,
May they keep you in all your ways.
12 They will carry you in their hands,
So that your foot does not stumble on a stone.
13 On the lion and the asp you will tread;
You will trample the lion's cub and the dragon.
14 Because he has put his love on me, I also will deliver him;
I will put him on high, because he has known my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in anguish;
I will deliver him and glorify him.
16 I will satisfy him with long life,
And I will show you my salvation.
