The writer receives a message the next day that emphasizes Jesus' example of serving as a servant and giving everything. They feel joy to see that the Holy Spirit is inspiring others to prioritize service.

At Christmas time we always think about what to give to our loved ones. Yet it is ironic how many of us forget to set aside a gift for Christ when in reality he is the reason we celebrate Christmas. In the December 11 Sermon I explore the significance of Christ's incarnation as the greatest gift God ever gave us. Jesus came to serve in our midst and gave us his whole life in service. In light of your gift, I felt in my heart exhorting our congregation to celebrate a different Christmas this year; that together we would commit ourselves to give our best service to Jesus through lives transformed and willing to serve inside and outside the church. I encouraged our congregation to become a serving church.

The next day I received the following sentences:

Jesus:

- He came to a manger and not to a throne

- He lived as a servant and not as a king

- He chose a cross and not a kingdom

- He gave everything and not a part

As soon as I read these words, I was filled with joy to see that the Holy Spirit is putting the same feeling in different people regarding service. It is time for us to follow our teacher's example and live a life of service to others.
