Summary: The Ministry of Intercession, La Higuera, met in Havana for a special day of prayer, dance, and praise to honor God. An invitation was also extended to Christians, Jews, and Arabs in Cuba to come together to pray for lasting peace and good human coexistence between Israel and Palestine. The unity and unanimity of the church of Christ are essential for God's restoration plans for Zion, and their prayer for this counts.
The Holy Spirit moves in an unspeakable and sovereign way. The advancement of the Kingdom is his only goal, the church of Christ his special dwelling place and his outstretched arm; That is why we should not be surprised if extraordinary things happen when the church is united in the same mind.
God walked through Havana this past weekend bringing fig seeds from his chosen people from various nations. He came with the task of replanting them and sprinkling them again with waters from heaven. The land is fertile and although the new gardeners are not very expert in the trade of taking care of the suckers, they trust that the earth will give its fruit if the seed is taken care of well, because the Fig Tree, when it grows under the supervision of the Eternal God, is a strong tree that resists any storm. The only merit of the new gardeners is that they love the Lord who brought the seeds and they want to honor him. So they are already dressed preparing the farming instruments because the Cuban land is good and they trust their Lord.
La Higuera -Ministry of Intercession-, an instrument of God to make manifest the ministry of unity between Israel and the church, met in Havana by the grace of the Lord and the church of Christ lived a special day of prayer, dances and praises to our Savior. Is there something impossible for God?
But there is more. This same weekend an apparently unusual call has spread through Havana: an invitation for Christians, Jews and Arabs residing in Cuba to come together to pray together for lasting peace and for good human coexistence between Israel and Palestine. September in an emblematic theater (“Bertold Brecht”) in this city and from now on I invite my brothers from León de Judá and La Higuera to intercede in prayer for this meeting. Is there something impossible for God?
The greatest strength of the church of Christ lies in its unity, but it continues to be its greatest weakness. It is not the same to be together than to be unanimous. Being together speaks of being united to achieve common goals, being unanimous is being of the same mind, it is sharing the passion to achieve common goals but based on a common faith. The best illustration is given by Luke: “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all in one accord together” (Acts 2.1).
But that's exactly the problem. The formula is rarely achieved: unanimous together. Many times we are united (together), but not unanimous (in the same mind) and the disbelievers are the first to notice it (they are such good observers!). If our lack of unity harms the gospel of reconciliation that we preach so much, the lack of unanimity makes the church an easy target for the darts of the evil one and distances us from God's eternal desire that we “be one” (John 17) . Paul rightly encouraged the Philippians brothers in the following way: "make my joy complete, being of the same mind, keeping the same love, united in spirit, dedicated to the same purpose" (Phil 2.2). To be unanimous is to be united in the Spirit.
The Fig Tree is the tree that "cries out" for unity and unanimously of the children of the God of Israel and of all nations, because in our condition of believers in his son Jesus, we are also called his people by his sovereign and perfect will. God has not abandoned his people, he still has restoration plans for Zion, but he needs the unity and unanimity of the church of Christ to ignite love and spread it like a benign plague that infects and restores the hardest heart. Your prayer for this, counts!
God bless you!
