Summary: The author observes a stray dog that looks sad and dejected until his master arrives and caresses him, causing the dog to come alive with joy. The author compares this to how we can feel lost and downcast until we experience the love and caress of our Lord, who knows us and loves us unconditionally. The author encourages the reader to wait on God and praise Him, who is our salvation and God.
A few days ago, while waiting for the bus, I began to observe a stray dog that remains almost always in that place. He walked from one side to the other, he looked, as we say in Cuba, "burned out." This is synonymous with sick, sad, abandoned, in short, it was the image of desolation. A while passed and suddenly his attitude changed completely, he raised his ears, raised his head and his tail began to move vigorously, I was astonished, since I could not find the cause of this, but it did not take long for the mystery to be revealed to me because advancing towards him, a man stroked his head and patted him on the back. The animal that previously showed a deplorable state, now seemed full of vigor leaping and barking with joy. His master had arrived!
How many of us are familiar with this story?
How many of us lived "hush" on the streets of life?
How did you feel when your master, the Lord of your life caressed you?
When did they call you by your name and tell you that you were the "apple of their eyes"?
Isn't it true that you bloomed again?
"I am the good shepherd; and I know my sheep, and mine know me… ”(John 10:14) How I leap for joy when my master caresses me! If I had a tail, I would move it too. I do not bark, but praise gushes from my lips and my chest opens because so much love does not fit in it.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me…” (Jn 10.27) His sublime voice that speaks to my soul, the only voice that listens to my heart.
“And I give them eternal life; and they will never perish, nor will anyone snatch them out of my hand ”(Jn 10-29) and those words fall like refreshing drops on me and my being is hydrated with their living water. No one! He is absolute, no matter how much I move away, even there he will hold his hand and bring me back, he will bandage the wounds that he brings with me and he will restore me, it is the promise of who is "Faithful and True"
And it is that even though I am, He lays down his life for me, because he wants to put it, not because nobody forces him to do it, because he loves me and that is why I can love, because I am so loved that I can share that love, It is abundant, there is plenty for everyone.
Do you feel his love? Undoubted, sure, permanent, immutable, indestructible, as true as your breath, as soft as the spring breeze, as strong and firm as his life. "I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it back" (John 10.18) Real as his sacrifice.
Then say: Why are you downcast, my soul, and are you troubled within me?
Wait on God; because I still have to praise him, my salvation and my God. (Psalm 42.5)
What do you think about "Recognizing His voice"? We would love to hear from you.
