Summary: The Holy Spirit is crucial for believers in carrying out the work of evangelization and fulfilling the Great Commission. The movement of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is closely related to the manifestation of God's power to unbelievers, which can lead to their conversion. In Acts 1, Jesus commands the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the baptism of the Holy Spirit before carrying out their mission. The Holy Spirit is a powerful resource for believers to succeed in their work and have a close relationship with God. The success of the Christian life depends on total immersion in the Power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit has been left above all to strengthen and train believers in the work of evangelization, in the work of reconquering the world that the Lord has left them, in the fulfillment of the Great Commission to go throughout the world and preach the Gospel.
There is a close relationship between the movement of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the fact that the Church is carrying out the work of Evangelism because for that the signs and manifestations are given, it is for the unbelievers, when they see the Power and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers have to say: well, no one can do these things if God is not with them as Nicodemus told Jesus, and then they are moved to believe.
And we saw then that we have to have that appetite, that desire for the Holy Spirit to move in our lives so that the world can see that Christ is indeed with us.
Another key passage concerning the Ministry and the life of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers who are carrying out the Great Commission, is found in the Book of Acts and we are already entering almost the very center of the territory of the Holy Spirit. . In this passage from Acts chapter 1, that risen Christ about to ascend to heaven before His Second Coming, leaves you additional instructions; It is one of those very important scenes for believers who believe in the Ministry of the Holy Spirit as something that is current for our time, this passage is key to that.
And we see here that the Lord is giving them final instructions, chapter 1 verse 4, Acts, and the apostle Luke, author of the Book of Acts says here: "And being together" the disciples "commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but that they awaited the promise of the Father, which "the Lord said to them:" you heard from Me, and then the Lord adds: "because John certainly baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit in not many days."
In other words, the Lord said to them: Do not leave Jerusalem yet, the center, the very heart of the Church at that time, right? Do not venture into the Great Commission without first receiving this gift from God, this enabling element of the movement and gifts of the Holy Spirit in your lives. It is interesting that here the Lord draws that distinction that John the Baptist had drawn before between his ministry and the Ministry of the Messiah, it was this matter that John only baptized with water but the Lord would baptize in the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Let me read that passage to you because this is interesting. In verse 16 of Luke chapter 3 it says: "John answered saying to all: I indeed baptize you with water, but one more mighty than I is coming, whose shoe strap I am not worthy to untie, He will baptize you in Holy Spirit and fire. His fan is in His Hand and will cleanse His age, and gather the wheat in His barn, and burn the chaff in a fire that will never go out. " What an impressive picture of the Ministry of Jesus that John the Baptist gives us.
John says: well I specialize in baptizing people with water, but one much more powerful than me is coming and that description that he gives of that terrible minister who is the Messiah, His fan is in His Hand, He will clean, He will gather the wheat In His barn, He will burn the straw with fire, it is not Jesus that little humble that we see walking in the pages of the Gospel but a terrible, strong, powerful Spirit, as John, the beloved disciple saw it, later in the Book of Revelation, a be terrible that this is the true Jesus that we will see coming in the last times and manifesting himself in all His Glory.
So it is interesting that the Lord here says the same right? John has already fulfilled a task, he was supposed to announce My Coming, to baptize people with water for repentance, but now, when I go up, I am going to send one who is the Holy Spirit who is going to baptize them with the Power of God , with fire, and in this case the fire is just like the signal, right? From that dynamic, powerful, invasive, burning, penetrating aspect of the Holy Spirit, fire is characterized by all these things.
Then the Lord says to them: Don't go, why brothers? Because if we want to do the Work of God in our lives, if we want to evangelize effectively, if we want powerful churches that are doing the true Work of God in our times, we are going to need that Presence, that move of the Holy Spirit. Many churches rush to do the Work of God but many times they do it as with one hand tied behind their back because they do not have that essential resource that is the Power of the Holy Spirit. Then the Lord says to them: Wait until you are baptized.
After this moment the disciples ask him a question: Lord, are you going to restore Israel in this time, his kingdom, his power on Earth? and the Lord Jesus says to them: Look, don't worry about those things. "It is not up to you" Acts chapter 1 verse 7, "It is not up to you to know the times or the seasons that the Father put in His sole power, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria and to the ends of the earth. "
The Lord Jesus Christ says to them: Look, don't worry about these dark and subtle and exotic theological questions. What you are interested in is having the basic tools that you need to carry out the Work that I have entrusted to you; leave to Papa up there in the sky the divine calendar and when this is going to come, and when the other thing is going to come. Do not worry excessively about those things, worry about doing the work of Evangelism in the world and making sure that you have the Power of the Holy Spirit so that then, as a result of that Presence in your lives, you can be effective witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea, in Samaria and throughout the Earth. But only when you receive that Power, then dare to go forward.
Before ascending, the Lord wanted to leave the disciples clear evidence, clear help, a powerful resource for the work they had to do. The Lord never sends us to do something if he does not train us first and assure us of success. And the success of the Christian life lies in a close relationship with the Holy Spirit; incidentally, so close that it is a relationship of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives and of total immersion in the Power of that Spirit of God.
My brothers may the Lord bless you, I say goodbye to you in the Name of Jesus and I declare on your life the most abundant blessings of precisely that powerful Spirit of God. Until our next meditation.
