Summary: The Spirit of God departs from Saul and an evil spirit torments him. Saul's servants suggest that they bring someone who can play the harp to calm him, and they suggest David who has good reputation. David comes to the palace and plays for Saul, and the evil spirit within him leaves for a time. David becomes familiar with the environment and observes many things, which is part of the preparation of the Holy Spirit for him to become king. David sees an opportunity to defeat Goliath and neutralizes the daily insult to the Name of the Lord. When the Presence of God is in your life and you take advantage of opportunities, everything is possible.

I want to continue this study of the movement of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers and the important details that we have to take into account as illustrated by the Word of the Lord. We saw that the Spirit of God descended on David and from that moment he came to visit the life of the king of Israel before he was even installed.

But now we see something interesting. In verse 14, in a different section than most Bibles trace, it says: "The Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and was tormented by an evil spirit from the Lord" and so a number of things are pointed out here that start to happen. We see the following: in one part of the stage God activates His blessing and His anointing on the life of David, and it is like a film camera changes the focus and now presents us with the palace of Saul.

We do not know how much time is allowed between one moment and another, but the truth is that now we are given entrance to Saul's palace and we see there that God has begun to prepare the ground for David's ascent to the reign of Saul. Once God has already prepared David, now the circumstances need to be prepared so that that anointing of God that is in him begins to be used correctly.

So God takes His Power from Saul and not only that, but He sends him the Bible says, which is a mystery that we do not have time to explore now, it says that an evil spirit came from God that affected Saul. It was probably some kind of emotional illness, it could have been a serious depression that came to him from time to time, some kind of madness or whatever, the fact is that he says that Saul's soul was tremendously disturbed and he kind of lost his reasoning .

And then his servants suggest that they can bring someone who can play the harp to quiet that evil that is in Saul's life, and without knowing it they are cooperating with the Spirit of God, and they suggest that he bring David who has good reputation.

Incredibly they describe David this way. Someone says: "Then one of the servants answered saying" verse 18, First Samuel 16, "here I have seen a son of Isaiah, from Bethlehem, who knows how to play and is brave and vigorous, and a man of war, prudent in his words and beautiful, and Jehovah is with him. " This servant suggests to Saul: get this man who evidently has the Power of God with him and bring him.

We do not know if a certain amount of time passed, but here David is described as a man of courage and war. Has it been a while and has something happened in David's life that prepared him for a certain level of prominence? We do not know. The fact is that this suggestion from this servant, I believe, inspired by the Holy Spirit, begins to put David on the necessary path to reach the throne. The anointing that is in him begins to move and change the circumstances around him so that God's purposes are fulfilled in David's life.

When David comes to the palace and plays for Saul, and the evil spirit that is within him leaves for a time, and by the way we can say here the importance of worship; David was a worshiper and indeed, where there is worship of the Lord, where there are anointed worshipers who know how to bring down the glory of God, Satan has to flee. The powers of the devil are defeated and put to flight. That is why it is important for us to strengthen the anointing of God through worship, to be in environments where music is adequate to lower the glory of God so that God begins to move.

This is an interesting part that we also saw regarding the prophets that Saul encountered, who had tambourines and harps, who were playing and worshiping the Lord; Wherever the Presence of God is, there is praise, where the praise is, the Presence of God is, and where the praise and the Presence of God are, the demons are neutralized and do not have as much power, or perhaps none, to be able to move.

So this man suggests that they bring David filled with the Holy Spirit, his worship neutralizes the powers of evil that are moving in Saul, but this also puts David in a position to be able to observe many things, to get used to the real environment and to realize how it is governed. I imagine that he was able to observe many things there and all of that was part of the preparation of the Holy Spirit for the one who was to be king.

Interestingly enough, it takes a long time from the moment the anointing of God falls on David and the moment he actually becomes king, some say it could have been ten or more years, fifteen some say, but the fact is that already God's anointing is working in David's life.

What we see after David is taken to the palace is that other wonderful and very well known scene where David watches Goliath, who continually comes before the people and challenges and insults the living God, and David, filled with the Holy Spirit, filled God's fiery, filled with the power and faith of God that is in him through the Presence of the Holy Spirit, is inflamed when he sees this giant mocking the Spirit of God, and we all know the story of David and Goliath, and the great defeat suffered by the Philistines through the intervention of this young man totally filled with the Power of the Holy Spirit.

But it all started with that moment of impartation in which we see, verses ago, in the home of David through the intervention of the prophet Samuel. What happens there is that then, when the anointing of God is in the individual, if the individual is prepared for the opportunities and is observing as we said, possible opportunities to serve the Lord, the Spirit of God will do the part that He is responsible.

When David sees this opportunity regarding the giant and is not afraid, he is not indolent, he is not lazy, he does not give in to cowardice and tries to do something to defeat this giant, and neutralize this daily insult that is receiving the Name of the Lord , the Spirit of God that is in him is activated and the rest is history as we say. Because when the Presence of God is in your life and you take advantage of the opportunities, then everything is possible.

Our part is to observe opportunities, to be strong and courageous, to be diligent and the rest God is more than willing to do it. Important, if the Spirit of God is in you, believe that the Lord is going to be working in your life in many different ways so that the circumstances align in your favor and you reach the destination that the Lord has for your life. May the Lord bless us and until our next program.
