The prophet Zacharias announced with joy the arrival of the King who is righteous, savior, and humble. Our desires and prayers should be to contemplate Jesus exalted as King of kings and Lord of lords. We should remain vigilant against the vain and deceptive philosophy that follows human traditions. Our God is KING and LORD, and his glory is our purpose. Let us live in the grace and truth that is Christ and overthrow those foolish kings of affliction, doubt, insecurity, anger, and unforgiveness. Long live our King and Happy New Year!
One of the many reasons why they call us crazy is because we go around proclaiming that we have a King. Yes, we have a King! And we adore him! Although the world no longer pays much attention to monarchies, our monarch is and will always be worthy of all praise and devotion . He is the ineffable gift. Do you know what ineffable means? The ineffable is what cannot be expressed in human words. As simple as that. The greatness of our King, his goodness, mercy, justice and grace are inexpressible, they cannot be explained in words because the love of God is not subject to strange keys or codes. By observing the creation we would have enough. Only a King who believes, saves and loves can be worthy of obedience and gratitude.
The world has put crowns on people who have no head. He has enthroned men and women of flesh and blood by placing in them his hopes, their future, their survival, their children and families. Some have remained on the throne for longer than necessary, others have "disregarded" in the attempt. They are the ones who, for lack of virtue, allowed iniquity to castrate their souls. They are the ones who cannot see the sun when it rises, not because they do not have eyes, but because the light of the world, who is the King of glory, is indifferent to them. Therefore, their reigns,… inevitably… will pass.
Since the times when the Israelites asked for kings to be ruled ignoring the absolute monarchy of the eternal King, countless castles have crumbled with kings of the same lineage and similar fragility. Until today. If you don't believe it, look around you.
The prophet Zacharias announced with joy the arrival of the King: Rejoice very much, daughter of Zion! Shout for joy, daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king is coming to you, righteous, savior and humble. He comes riding on a donkey, on a colt, a young donkey (Zechariah 9.9).
Commenting on Psalm 72, Ch. Spurgeon said: “The climax of our desires, the summit of our prayers - and it will always be - is to contemplate Jesus exalted as King of kings and Lord of lords ... He is the central figure , the focus of all glory ”. Thanks Spurgeon for this reminder.
And so we come to another year by the grace of God. Culture and philosophies will continue to be filled with Babylonian statues and homages to the kings and queens of folly at the height of the most impious face of postmodernity. And so it will be until the world engenders a new fetish-icon-idol that surpasses it. And Paul warns us to remain vigilant: "Beware that no one captivates you with the vain and deceptive philosophy that follows human traditions, which is in accordance with the principles of this world and not in accordance with Christ." (Col 2.8)
We have the only King! Sovereign and humble, powerful and eternal, majestic and sensitive. His Cross is the refuge and the compass at all times. His love, our strength. His crown, the redeemed of this humanity. His music, our joy. The concert that he offers each day bears the notes of hope, with "bass" for those who do not know him, "sustained" for the faithful and "sharp" for those who once knew him, believed themselves to be kings and lost themselves in their lives. own castles of banality. He awaits the return of the latter and there will be a party in heaven again.
Our God is KING and LORD. His glory is our purpose, to glorify him in this life. While we are passing through this world, the best thing is to come to Him, follow Him, believe Him, talk about Him. May our lips be filled with praise for the King in this new year. Let us overthrow "those foolish kings" and executioners of his grace (the affliction, the doubt, the insecurity, the anger, the unforgiveness). Let us live in the grace and truth that is Christ. Long live our King!
Happy New Year! God bless you!
