Summary: God is admirable in the way He puts together the puzzles of our lives and gives them meaning and purpose. He fights for us and prepares the way for us to meet Him. Society has become depersonalized and has lost the meaning of life, encouraging people to live without purpose and ignore God's authority. However, when we have the Lord in our lives, we become transcendent and admirable. Jesus taught with authority because He had all authority in heaven and on earth. He is admirable because He humbled Himself and died on the cross to save us from sin. We should choose to admire Christ and teach our children to do the same. Let us be amazed and moved by the simple things in life and remember that the admirable Emmanuel is already born in our hearts.

Don't you wonder at God every day? Don't you admire the ways in which He is putting together the puzzles of your life, giving it meaning and purpose? When we submit ourselves to the Lord entirely, we see his admirable becoming, his imprint on our retracement through the years and the present time ; how He was preparing the way for our meeting with Him. Imagine the Lord fighting for you pulling you with his cords of love despite your rebellions and sins. He is amazing, so admirable as a counselor.

Today's society has become depersonalized. Paraphrasing Prof. J. Stoll, it would be said that the loss of the meaning of life in a world without purpose, encourages the natural man to live his own experience with his back to the eternal values of faith, questioning his own existence and taking out (unaware) God of his transcendence, ignoring his full authority.

Man is truly transcendent when he has the Lord in his life and here, in my opinion, lies what makes him admirable. The crowds marveled at Christ because he taught with authority (Lk 4:32). What kind of authority? How far did such authority reach? Jesus said of himself: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." (Mt 28.18). The apostle John heard a voice from heaven saying "Now has come the salvation, the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ (the Messiah) ..." (Rev 12.10)

That is why it is named Admirable, it is not an adjective, but a proper noun. He is the supreme authority and Lord of all that exists. It is admirable because being strong he became weak, being God he humbled himself to the utmost (Phil 2.8), being King he was born in a manger and to save us, he died on a cross. I cannot understand that such an admirable being, with all the authority given by God, died such a cruel death in our place. You know why? Because sin had deprived us of His glory and He could not conceive it. For this it is admirable, because we only have to give it a chance for it to come into our life; to believe in Him, albeit with a pinch of faith, to have eternal life (Jn 3.16), to be heirs of God and joint heirs with Him and to have part in his glory in eternity. (Ro 8.17).

Who do you admire these days? What world values do you use to show and instruct your children - siblings, parents, grandchildren, nephews, friends - at home, at work, even at church? Let's choose Christ; God transferred us to the Kingdom of his beloved son (Col 1.13), and called us out of darkness to his marvelous light (2 Pe 2.9). That light was Christ and will be until the end of time. Do you admire your boss? Your possessions and wealth? Your pastor? Very good, but you better put your eyes on Christ.

Another Christmas, another challenge. Do not stop admiring the Lord but also be amazed! before the table with a crust of bread that is served without a tablecloth; admire the Lord, but be moved! For the mother who leaves her loins in the daily battle to feed her children, she admires the Lord, but take turns! before the disconcerting forum of indifferent human beings in front of the innocent gaze of a child who does not know that his sadness comes from his lean and famished stomach. Was not the admirable Emmanuel already born in our hearts?

God bless you!
