My god is healing

Summary: Recognizing ourselves as spiritually sick is the first step towards healing. Medicines can help, but only if we decide to take them. Similarly, spiritual healing requires us to acknowledge our sinful state and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Material wealth cannot compare to the joy of God's presence in our lives. It is okay to feel sad, but we offend God if we try to heal ourselves instead of seeking Him. When we are in distress, God is always by our side, waiting for us to turn to Him.

The first step to be able to heal a disease is to recognize yourself as a sick person. Only then will we find someone trained to tell us what to do. Medicines have been created for this, but if we don't take them, they won't have any effect. We can have an arsenal of drugs, that if we do not decide to take them, it is as if we have nothing.

In contrast to this, I know people who take a number of medications indiscriminately, without a prescription, just because they read, told or assumed that they are good for health and take care of their body to the point of worshiping it.

With spiritual healing the same thing happens, if we do not recognize that we are sinners, we will not be able to heal the spirit; No one who thinks they are spiritually healthy would seek healing, but when we realize that our spirit is faint from sin, then we go to the Divine Physician's consultation in search of a definitive solution to our suffering.

Healing the spirit is much more important than healing the body. What good is it to a man to have a healthy body when his soul is in a state of decomposition?

When our spirit is sick, all the vanities of the world fail to diminish the sadness that we feel in the heart, man can have the world, which if he does not have God, he has nothing. The joy that the conviction of his presence in our life gives is not comparable to the material wealth that this world can offer.

No medicine created by man can heal our spirit, our medicine is different and we cannot grasp it with our hands but with our heart, our doctor is the Holy Spirit of God working in our life.

Being sad is not a sin, as some want to show. If we follow the path of Jesus we can see him crying at the tomb of a friend and in Gethsemane confessing to his disciples that his soul was sad "Until death" (Mat 26.38, Mar 14.34). Such was his sadness that an angel had to come to console him.

Of course we feel sad, we are not masochists! We do not offend God when we feel pain, we offend Him when in the midst of the pain we are not able to seek Him and we try to fight unsuccessfully with our own strength to heal the wounds, ignoring that He is the only balm that heals and does not leave a scar.

When the world sees us in distress, the first thing they ask is where is their God? They cannot understand that He is always by our side because they see us distracted searching our own solutions, unable to feel His presence, because we have strayed from the path, while He, immutable, remains with His hands extended to, with just a touch, give us health.
