Summary: Blaming ourselves or others for what happens to us can lead to a vicious cycle of guilt and mistakes. As believers, we should remember that God is in control and seek to learn from every situation. Job's example shows us to trust in God's comfort, even in the midst of great loss and pain. We should also be the hands of God to others, providing comfort and hope in their times of need. Let us follow the example of Christ and help heal wounds and restore those who are hurting.
Human beings usually blame something or someone for everything that happens to us and the worst of all is that sometimes we blame ourselves, without realizing that this causes us to fall into a vicious circle where the error turns into guilt. and guilt leads us to make new mistakes and thus an ordeal is prolonged that leads to the total destruction of our self-esteem.
Those of us who walk hand in hand with God must have another perspective. In the first place we are convinced that nothing escapes his control and that his will is the one that prevails in our life. If we are convinced of this, then we must seek learning through all situations.
Job was convinced that his life was in God's hands, “Because He is the one who makes the sore and he will bind it up; He wounds and his hands heal ”(Job 5.18) All the useless and foolish words of his friends did not make Job lose focus. How better would it have been if they had conveyed compassion to him through their looks and the warm touch of a hand on his shoulder.
But Job knew that consolation would come, not from human hands, but from God himself. "Then Job got up, and tore his cloak, and shaved his head, and fell on the ground and worshiped." Can you imagine someone worshiping before a news like the one they just gave you?
“And he said: Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked I will return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; be the name of Jehovah blessed. In all this Job did not sin, nor did he attribute any nonsense to God ”. Job 1.20-22. Job surely considered that there was a Divine purpose in this situation and he trusted in the comfort that would come.
However, it did not come immediately, but worse trials came to his life, but Job remained faithful, "because he sustained himself as seeing the Unseen One" (Hebrews 11:27)
For many years I lost my pregnancies, there were 4 losses, the last one came to term, but the child suffocated with the umbilical cord, I have only one son by the mercy of God who was pleased that I enjoyed being a mother.
My husband's daughter-in-law, who I consider my daughter, a Christian, lost her first pregnancy, I was all the time by her side hugging her and singing praises in the midst of her pain that was also mine, but God had prepared me many years ago for this moment and in that pain I was the hands of God, He used me to transmit comfort and hope in the face of his loss. Today she has a beautiful girl whom we love, but she never sinned, she understood that God had something better for her life and she hoped in Him.
The consolation of God comes disguised in many ways, a hand, a hug, a silence, a gift, a help, a simple presence, a shoulder ready to receive a flood of tears. God is there, in every comfort we receive, because every time mercy moves us towards someone who suffers, it is the Holy Spirit who is at work.
Let's not be annoying comforters like those who comforted Job, we better follow the example of Christ. Healing wounds, feeding and returning the sheep restored to the flock is our responsibility.
