Summary: Before knowing Christ, our souls are lost in darkness, searching for something to illuminate our path. But when we find His light, we see our scars and wounds clearly, and He becomes the balm that heals us. We must cling to His light and take care of it, so that we can be a light to the world. Let's make the Lord's words come true and be the light of the world.

In Cuba, so-called 'blackouts' are very common, which are nothing more than the lack of electricity. When they happen at night without prior notice we stay in the most absolute darkness, we grope for a box of matches and sometimes when we light we have a tremendous scare because we have another member of the family next to us who was in the same search and we do not feel it arrive.

When we do not know Christ, our soul is lost in darkness, groping for something to illuminate the path for us. In this search we stumble, fall, hurt, faint and cry in fear of not being able to see beyond what is humanly possible.

When its light illuminates our hearts and minds, we feel a deep fear because we begin to see clearly the scars of the wounds that remained from our walk in darkness, almost none of them are superficial, most of them are deep and ugly and we would like to take the time ago and erase all the past, but that is not possible, we just have to go ahead and start walking in the light that He offers us.

As we advance on this new path, holding his hand, which we squeeze hard because we do not want to lose ourselves again, we realize that the scars are disappearing and we get a new skin. He is the balm that heals our wounds, his light does not hurt our eyes, now they are more open than ever and we can see clearly.

It is the same light that guided Israel through the desert. We have learned to appreciate it and we cling to it because we know that the shadows lie in wait for us, but those subject to it, will not be able to reach us.

His admirable light will always guide us, the flame of the fire that burns in our hearts will never be extinguished and if it ever diminishes, it will never be for Him, it will always be us who will let it go out.

Let's take care of the light of the world that one day we receive, let's ensure that the oil never runs out and let's clean the mirror that spreads it, which is our heart.

Let's make the Lord's words come true in Matthew 5.14: "You are the light of the world: how can a city set on a hill be hidden?"
