Summary: The narrator sees a mare being mistreated and abused, and feels a deep pain in their chest. They are reminded of the suffering of Jesus on the cross, carrying the weight of human sin and enduring cruel punishment with humility and resignation. The narrator reflects on our continued indifference and cruelty towards Jesus, despite his forgiveness and love for us. The pain of the mare becomes insignificant in comparison to Jesus' pain and sacrifice.
I saw her in the distance pulling the cart, her tired walk, her head lowered, her unsure gait, she carried all the weight of the world on her. As he approached I noticed that his ribs could be counted, the bones of his hip and spine looked like they were going to break the skin. I felt an incredible pain in my chest and tears came out when I saw the sore, huge, bleeding, which had caused the rope with which they pulled her.
They flogged her and she humbly served those who mistreated her, accepting punishment with resignation.
"For God's sake! Don't abuse her anymore." That mare is going to die!
They didn't even look, they continued on their way, whipping him. He stopped a few meters away. I saw her trembling legs, she was exhausted, I looked away and when I looked again she was gone.
I thought of the torture of Calvary, The King carrying his burden, heavy as human evil, our sin on his shoulders crushing him, the pain of his wounds and his humble resignation and submission to the Father.
Our indifference, the cruelty of re-crucifying Him every time we fall and He extending His wounded hands to support us.
And the pain in my chest becomes insignificant before his pain ...
And my tears are nothing before their cry: - "Father forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing!" (Luke 23:34)
And we continue to cast lots to mock his sacrifice.
And He forgiving us, because He is the one who knows us best and loving us with that love that we cannot even imagine, because it is divine.
What do you think about "The sacrifice"? We would love to hear from you.
