Summary: In 2 Kings 7, we see the story of four lepers who stumbled upon a great harvest of food in a deserted Syrian camp. They initially kept it to themselves but then realized that they needed to share the good news with their people who were starving in Samaria. This story teaches us that God wants to bless His people with abundance and prosperity, but we must not keep the blessings to ourselves. We are called to share the good news of the Gospel with others and be bold in our evangelism. If we do this, God will bless us, but if we keep silent, we will face negative consequences. In this time of God's mighty move, we must be with Him, flow with His purposes, and carry out His will in history.
We see here a tremendous harvest that these men - who are flowing in God's revelation - enjoy. When one moves in the power of God and is doing the Will of the Lord there is great blessing, there is great harvest for us.
God wants a time of refreshment for the Church of Jesus Christ; a time of abundance, a time of spiritual provision, a time of prosperity even and that is what is coming at this time for the children of God. These are times of great, great enjoyment of divine provision both on a material and spiritual level.
And these men have their moment, notice that their lives were radically changed. God allowed these men to keep these things and their life was changed. I imagine they were able to live comfortably despite their leprosy but they were able to live richly for the rest of their lives because they were the first to reap those firstfruits of God's blessing.
But then something interesting arises and it is that after they eat and are satisfied, they treasure His blessings in verse 9 he says: "Then they said to each other: We are not doing well. Today is a good news day and we are silent and yes we wait until dawn our wickedness will catch up with us. Come on now, let's go in and give the new "news" at the King's house. "
At the moment, as these men reconsider, they say: wait. We are here eating, drinking, enjoying this wealth and there on the other side our people in Samaria are starving in extreme poverty, we are not doing well. We have to share the news of what has happened here and share with them this abundance that has arisen unexpectedly.
And I believe that here we also see an image of something very important and that is that we are called at this time to announce that in Christ Jesus there is hope, in Christ Jesus there is power to solve the needs of individuals and also the needs of cities and the nations. And it is not the time to silence the truths of the Gospel. It is the time to be bold and cry out from the rooftops that God loves humanity and that He has great purposes for the nations at this time and that He wants to reconcile with humanity and that He does not want to destroy but wants to bless and give life.
This is the message that we have to be announcing at this time. God will bless the Church when the Church begins to do the work of Evangelism and realizes that the greatest call is the one we have to announce the good news of the Gospel. This is the time to be declaring the good news of God and believing that by doing so we will have a great harvest of souls.
We have to do as Peter said when the Lord said to him: Cast the nets to fish and Peter told him: the conditions do not seem the best for fishing but in Your Word I will cast the net and having done it, he collected a great multitude of fish. If we launch ourselves to preach the Gospel in this time of God's mighty move, if we do not keep silent as the lepers did initially and instead share the good news that God wants to bless humanity when they repent and seek God for us. it's going to bless us too.
If we don't, we will pay the price, which will be very negative. Let us also remember the story of Esther Mordecai's uncle when he told Esther: if you shut up, don't think you are going to escape the consequences of what comes to your Jewish brothers, but if you speak, who knows if God has raised you up for a while like this. As with the case of Queen Esther we are in a time where God is moving in a powerful way in the nations.
The devil wants to kill, steal and destroy but the Church of Christ has been set up at this time to announce salvation and to move with power, with authority, with courage and carry out the purposes of God in history. If we do this, God will bless us, if we don't, judgment will come on the Church as well.
As I say in these times of great move of God there are two positions: the one who is with God will be blessed, the one who does not flow with God and resists the declarations and purposes of God God will depart from him and judgment will come on his life. Let us not be found like the lepers initially treasuring the Word ourselves and keeping it in our temples for our own purpose, but let us also launch ourselves to announce to humanity that God has a call for them also of blessing and healing. If we do, God the blessing will be upon us. God bless you.
