I have a student that I will call Dina. He is very intelligent, he likes to work and he delights in math classes trying different strategies to solve problems, he is 10 years old. But she has some serious flaws in her character : she is aggressive, she does not know how to resolve conflicts by dialogue but by mistreating and did not understand the importance of respecting authorities ("Let everyone submit to the authorities ..." Romans 13: 1 ). It may not seem like something new to you in childhood, because she is not the only student with these problems; However, after 9 months of guiding her in these areas, she still reveals herself to accept responsibility for her actions.

Last week she came with her older sister to my class, with a nicely written note to allow her to change her recess schedule so she could practice for a talent show. Unfortunately the day before his behavior had been extremely inappropriate and he had missed recess. When I read the note I looked into her eyes and asked her if she thought she deserved that privilege; she thought and remembered the day before and said "no". So I said, "Well maybe you need another chance, if your behavior improves, we may be able to make arrangements, but you can't go today." Notice the disappointment but she also acknowledged her mistake once again. I thought this lesson would help and encourage you in the need to develop the self-control that we have talked about hundreds of times during the year.

Unfortunately during recess she had another fight with another girl and almost hit her if it weren't for the intervention of her classmates. The truth was I got angry, and I mentioned her request, which she had forgotten and told her that her bad decision was not going to allow her to share with her friends at the talent show. I reminded him how many times we have talked about the importance of exercising self control and using the strategies that we have talked about so much. She was moved and wept. It seems to me that for the first time he understood the meaning of the consequence of our actions and making the wrong decisions.

I always meditate on the conflicts and problems of my students, seeking divine enlightenment. Then I remembered how many opportunities the Lord has given me, I still do not deserve salvation and being saved and knowing his will I fail him and forgive me again, until finally I understand after erring many times. His mercy is infinite and he has never given me what I deserve, on the contrary, he offers me his love, his forgiveness and always receives me. Now, the important thing is that I learn the teachings of his Word, because although he forgives me I have to suffer the consequences of my bad decisions (“because the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.” Romans 6: 2. 3)

Tomorrow I will allow you to go to your rehearsal, without further explanation or exhortation but in faith that all the conversations we have had will come true in your life, but above all that you learn the meaning of grace and mercy.

Heavenly Father I ask you for people who will read this story, and are struggling with weaknesses of character or perhaps sins that they have not been able to put down. In the name of Jesus I declare understanding of your principles and the importance of obeying your Word and your commands. Thank you that it is by your grace ("But by the grace of God I am what I am" 1Corinthians 15:10) and by your love that I can recognize my weaknesses and claim the help of your Spirit to walk in integrity before you. I unleash self-control, strength to fight against everything that opposes communion with you. I thank you infinite for your love, your grace and mercy and help us to be more like you by extending grace to those around us, especially our families. In the glorious name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus.
