Summary: As Christians, our joy should come from the fact that God has delivered us from the power of darkness and Satan. Without Christ, we are under the authority of Satan, but when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, His loving Lordship neutralizes the lordship of the devil in our lives. This gives us hope for progress, blessing, and holiness because Christ governs our life, not Satan. Our lives have been transferred from the realm of darkness to the Realm of Light.

Our joy must come as a result of God having delivered us from the power of darkness. Here a very important element of the Christian life is introduced and it is this matter that when we are in Christ, God has freed us from the power of Satan and that this must be one of the greatest reasons why we live lives of joy, of celebration and gratitude.

Sometimes we do not understand this dimension of the Christian life. When man is without God, when man or woman is without Jesus Christ by law they are under the power, under the authority of Satan. Nations and communities that do not take refuge under the name, under the blood of Jesus are by law then subject to the influence, control, and government of the powers of darkness. That is clear throughout all of Scripture.

That is why Christ speaks of the world being under the rule of Satan and of the prince of this world who is Satan. When Christ comes into the world it is to destroy the works of the devil. That is why the apostle John says in one of his letters that: for this the Son of God was revealed, to undo the works of the devil.

So one of the things that the Lord does when he comes into the world is to take power away from the devil and that we will see later in the Epistle to the Colossians. The Kingdom of Heaven advances and manifests itself here on Earth to destroy and neutralize the power and government of the devil. And what Christ does at the level of nations and what He wants to do at the level of all creation (which the Bible says groans for the day of his liberation precisely from the power of evil), He does also in our own lives.

When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior, when we invite Him to be immediate sovereign, automatically what that does is it neutralizes the lordship of the devil in our lives and establishes the benevolent and loving Lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives.

So what Paul is saying here is that we should live lives of joy, of gratitude, of good works, of good behavior, of patience in trials, and with one another in part because we now understand that God through Jesus Christ helps us. freed from the power of the devil. Now our life then has hope of progress, of blessing, of holiness because it is no longer the devil who governs our life but Christ Jesus. We have to understand that.

If you are a son of God, if you are a daughter of God, the one who has the first and the last word, I would also say the word in the middle of your life is also God, Jesus Christ not Satan. In our next meditation we will continue to meditate on this profound principle that our life has been transferred from the realm of darkness to the Realm of Light. Stay tuned and I know this is going to be a great blessing for your spiritual growth. I say goodbye to you Pastor Roberto Miranda, God bless you.
