Author
Milagros García Klibansky
Summary: The author observed a sparrow pecking at a wall with strength and tenacity, showing determination to obtain what was important to it. The author then compared this to people who passionately seek God and His word. However, there are times when people may become discouraged and lose sight of their purpose, but the author reassures that God is always there to support and guide us.
While the Pastor was preaching, something caught my attention, through a window I could see a sparrow pecking at a splattered cement wall and my curiosity awoke to see that little animal with strength and tenacity that he pecked, evidently there was something there that he liked, who knows if an unfortunate spider or any other insect, the fact is that he did not think to stop appropriating what was important to him.
The next day, while meeting at my work, I looked through the door that leads to a reception room and again I saw a sparrow, but unlike the other, it was idle, perched on the back of an armchair, showing no interest for nothing and in a place where it was difficult for him to find food.
And you will say -What do we have to do with these birds?
Look at yourself, don't you see yourself? You scrutinize the word of God until you are exhausted, you feel an overflowing passion to shout to others what you have seen and known, you want to seek God day and night, you know that it is important to you and you are so excited to obtain the treasure, that you do not stop searching. Anywhere you preach, you need to speak, tell others what you have and you almost force them to accept what you are showing them, just because you know it is valuable, an incomparable gift with a perspective of eternity.
You peck at the scriptures, in the solitudes, in your sunny or rainy mornings, in your sleepless nights and even in your dreams, just to obtain the most precious food, the Divine Company, through the communion of the spirit. Your spring is gushing and flooding everything in its path.
Look at yourself again, you are yourself, but now you find yourself discouraged, leisure paralyzes you, you believe that God is no longer as close as you felt, you do not feel the irrepressible urge to speak and give the supreme prize,
You are standing on dryness, it seems that the spring has run out. You start to behave in a different way and you don't even realize it, you start to get entangled in businesses that are not your Father's and you can't clearly distinguish where the nourishing food is, you mistake it for junk, your spirit groans and begins to malnourish.
Watch out, you are on the verge of collapse. But there is good news. He has never been so close to you as now, because He knows that you are weak and that you were going to be disoriented and He is simply there, supporting you and moving you away from the cliff. “And in the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for what we should ask as appropriate, we do not know, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unspeakable groans ”. Rom 8.26
He has not changed because he is immutable, he is not double minded like you and he is faithful until death. He made a pact with you and even if you break it, He keeps it at the cost of his blood. You can resign, He will let himself be killed to save you. Do you still think that the comparison does not suit you?
What do you think about "Looking for food on the wall"? We would love to hear from you.
