Summary: When we feel like God has forgotten us during times of affliction, we should approach Him and establish a close relationship. Doubts and negative thoughts may arise, but we must have faith in Jesus Christ and His promises. When God hides His face, He teaches us wisdom and helps us see with the eyes of the Spirit. We should seek intimacy with God and remember that He is always with us, even when we feel alone. Through this intimacy, we can experience a beautiful revelation with our creator.
The Psalmist David in a moment of affliction poured out his soul before God since he thought that God had forgotten him. This can happen to a child of God at a time when they are going through certain vicissitudes in their daily lives; and this situation can unleash a series of afflictions, anguish and despair to the point of doubting Divine protection and the fidelity of our God.
David, afflicted by adverse circumstances, in just two verses asks the Lord the same question four times. Until when?
When an affliction is prolonged as children of God we have to approach our God with all our being and establish a close relationship with Him. Otherwise, we will immerse ourselves in fears and all kinds of negative questions like these:
Has God forgotten about me?
Is he punishing me?
Is there a hidden sin in my life that God is punishing me for? Etc.
When the thought that God has hidden his face from us assails us, that is the time to appropriate his Word and his promises by faith. I would like to tell you that faith in Jesus Christ is the vehicle in which all his blessings travel for your life. Develop a deep intimacy with Him and walk in the power of His Spirit.
When God hides his face from you, he makes you understand wisdom, so that in this way you can understand what his plans are for your life. So that you feel a burning desire for more of him in your daily life and wish for new experiences in your walk with your creator. When God hides his face from us, he teaches us to see with the eyes of the Spirit; otherwise we would have a superficial knowledge of what happens in the spiritual realm.
Job also felt forgotten about God and declared Who would give me the knowledge where to find God!
I would go to his chair (Job 23: 3)
At the end of his trial Job came out strengthened and with a vast experience of the great greatness of God and the power of his sovereignty and then confesses “I had heard you by hearsay; but now my eyes see you ”(Job 42: 5)
When God hides his face from us that does not mean that he is absent, he never leaves us alone, Jacob when he thought he was alone was moved to make this statement: "Certainly Jehovah is in this place" Gen.28: 16
When God manifests himself to us, situations change, we feel strengthened, blessed and very joyful. When you are going through a conflict situation. When you think that God does not hear your prayers, when you do not feel it, remember that he is very close to you.
Hide from everything that distracts you and move away in absolute intimacy and you will be able to enjoy a beautiful revelation with your creator, and confess as Job did: "By hearsay I had heard you but now my eyes see you"
What do you think about "Hidden or manifest"? We would love to hear from you.
